I got super lucky and was able to get this guy first try, same weapon as you! I had a great shield that could eat his hits, with soft cap endurance, made a huge difference!

Honestly, even after playing the newer Souls games, which are far faster(Bloodborne for example), you'd think that even a boss like Artorias would feel right at home, but after going through all of DS1 up to this point with slower bosses makes someone like this seem fast. Also, I'd recommend that you fast roll for the rest of the DLC
