In a perfect world you can do that, but you know if you work at sysco, those labels are gonna be all over the place, you can't always stack your hand truck with labels out

I worked for Sysco in Fremont CA and I only lasted a month. I had to dolly everything no pallet jack or lift gate. Hard work and really under paid. Respect to all food service workers.

The fact that they don't give drivers help says a lot about the company. Working in the warehouse is just as bad if not worse. It's too much work and everything that goes along with it. The timing system they have is what burns people out. I firmly believe if it were a regular 8-hour job with overtime if you chose to stay for overtime you would work about just as hard on your own without knowing you are on a time clock. The fact that they don't change anything and constantly hiring people is proof that they don't care. They know that they will always be somebody out there needing a job really bad. The only way for things to change is for people to go on strike and literally don't cave in until things are changed. They know they can hold out longer than the average person can and they can always go and find a temp worker and pay them double until people have to come back to work because they need the money

I bump docks and only do drop and hook. I think I'd drop dead if I had to do what you do all day so you have my respect. Be careful though because people who do this type of work for too long end up with back problems later in life.

No reason todo this longer than a year. 3 years max. It's considered tractor trailer experience. 3 years of t/t experience opens up about 85% of t/t jobs. And that's a conservative estimate.

When I was at sysco Atlanta it was the hardest delivery jobs I ever had. The was the way they picked the orders in the warehouse. You'll have to unstack a whole pallet to get to one box on the bottom. I really don't miss it. Went to McLane foods after and there system was so good. Stop 1 on top stop 2 next level and so on. Easy. I didn't mind doing 1400 pieces a night over there.

Can’t do it long term. If you go on trucker forums or talk to older drivers, a lot of them that did food service long term have back, knees, or shoulder problems. Many had to get multiple surgeries. Food service is more of a get rich quick scheme. Do it for 6-12 months and dip out.

Agreed. I have heard of drivers that worked there and yet don’t have back problems, and this is likely the reason why. Someone also said that routine stretching and keeping your muscles limber also goes a long way.
