Love the car and mods. I have a 2015 F80. struggling to see if I want to do the crank hub fix and I have read a lot of posts about it randomly slipping even without any extra boost or the 2pin hub fix may even cause more damage. Sounds like you have access to some incredible engineers on modding your car. really wonder if its necessary. Do you recommend and did you do it? which brand? 2 pin verse 4pin? Thank you very much.

I have a 2019 f82 stage 2 and yes you should do it 100 percent. Spend the $3,000 to avoid a potential $20,000 bill. Anyone who owns the s55 engine should do it before they plan on any mods. As far as 2 pin or 4 pin, get either one and you’ll be good.

@ Bryan H, the 2 pin fix was a 1st gen design. The new solutions are 4 pin or using a splined approach. That failure in the 2 pin, if you look carefully, was the result of incorrect installation. So get a good shop to do your crank hub solution. FYI, the GTS runs the same engine but with water injection to cool the engine, AND it has no crank hub fix so that tells you that BMW is confident enough up to this HP point.

@ Yufeng Luo Awesome build, what a great example of what you can do to a GTS. I have a ZCP version which already has decent power, but I was thinking of a mildish tune to improve linearity. I don’t think I need to go crazy as I think the stock power is already pretty good for track work and too much power is just silly on the street for this car. Have you considered any other tunes? (Carbahn, Alpine, Ecutech, Dinan etc?)

Good video and good ideas. The former race driver is spot on about being careful with replacing stock parts with some other stuff and about reverting to some OEM stuff. So, I'm giving it a huge like. However, trying to make some kind of GT4 out of a regular car is a very bad idea in the first place. These cars simply have nothing in common except for the external looks. Oh, I'm actually wrong here. I meant GT3. GT4 class is very close to civil cars.

Those NANKANG AR-1 are as noisy as hell and not so fun if it starts to rains... On my way home from the track the other day I had to slow down to 55 and it was still scary. I'm definitely going for the new Cup 2 with reinforced sidewalls next time.

Actually, an M4 GT4 accelerates faster than a stock M4 GTS. The GTS is not faster in a straight line. The GT4 has 500hp, and is more than 230kg lighter than the GTS, while also having better brakes, wheels, etc. So it also handles much better, takes corners much faster, and stops much quicker. The default power of the GT4 is 500hp, but that you may choose to reduce it for certain race categories. The car comes with three keys which enable the different power modes. The GT4 is much more powerful than the GTS, while also being more nimble and driveable. This is why the GTS laps the Spa circuit in around 1m45s, whereas the GT4 laps it in 1m37 seconds.

Everything is fine minus those hideous gills on the fenders. Maybe if the car was originally specced white it would be less obvious, but the matte GTS paint and the cutout flare makes it too much attention to that specific part and looks out of place. Not even official GT4 M4 cars have them since they probably use better brakes that withstand heat for longer.
