Pack dev here. I'm surprised this made it into a video after how much suffering EQ was in by the end of the streams. This probably is unbelievable, but Explorer's Eve really isn't meant to be so exceedingly hard. It's intended to be interesting and fun. Seeing someone else stream this for the first time made me realize how overtuned it is. If anyone wants to play this pack right now, do it on Easy or Normal for a less enraging experience. I'm currently working on an update to fix some of the issues in this pack, including problems other than the difficulty. I don't know when it'll be ready, but beta testers have told me that it's much more fun already. Thank you, Eqlipse, for giving this pack a chance anyway. Maybe once it gets a few more updates, you could revisit it and have a more enjoyable experience.

​@@funtimefreddyplushie Fair point, but I failed to consider the expectations that other packs set. In Explorer's Eve, Hard really is very challenging, to the point where even maximum enchanted gear isn't enough to guarantee success. But in most packs, it feels like Hard is needed to make it interesting. This difference can be confusing, as shown by EQ, who clearly wasn't prepared to die so much. I think it'd be best to tone down things like damage and add more custom challenges for people who really want more. That way, it aligns better with a new player's expectations.

21:00 The likely reason that the wither storm can't follow you to the nether specifically is because the nether is, uniquely, a giant box. The nether has a roof, which means that if the wither storm tried to spawn there, it would get stuck in unbreakable bedrock and either suffocate or get trapped.

You may be happy to hear that 1.5.3, the next update, is focused on reducing the excessive difficulty. Many common Twilight Forest mobs (those wolves especially) deal less damage, Wither Storm chases are shorter, Echo Shards are much more plentiful, Bundles are more common, Xaero's World Map is officially added, the Command Block battle is going to be drastically toned down, and a lot more things that aren't worth listing in a comment. This will allow players to hopefully reach the actual true final battle of the pack without being drained of willpower. It's not out yet, but I'm working on it when I can.

The cold parachutes only ever work once. You need the golden parachutes, which have 30 durability

1:16:40 I will give the command block sword a pass on it's damage, since it's not meant to be a weapon, technichally. Every command block tool does 25% of the command block's health, and the sword itself is made to just be "the item that can damage the block", especially since you have to make it inside the wither storm, you'd have no time to enchant it.

54:00 I've personally always found the phantom labyrinth to be a very fun place in the Forest, typically because if you've got a looting sword, you can find one of those dead ends with a helmet crab spawner, and just farm knightmetal for an hour to get infinite diamond-equivalent.

EQ, I saw your first stream of attempting this mod. I'm impressed you actually went through with it... I know how furious it made you at some points. I'm really proud of you for finishing it! I don't always want to see perfect games with pretty packaged endings... we all can find those all over youtube, but it's a lot of fun to see the tiny details and that not everything is easy and creators can struggle too. I actually would love to see more videos like this one! I'm not sure you can find another modpack with as much challenge and difficulty, but if anyone can do it, it would be you! GG.

I'm glad you played this as it was an interesting experience with a rather literal take of the whole 'you had me in the first half' situation, I'm hoping to see another video on this in the future when it's further updated and fixed, as is, it feels heavily like it's intended for multiple players and even then, would be absurdly difficult, which is a shame considering what a unique and honestly terrifying concept this one has. Props on getting as far as you did and saving us the pain and suffering of playing this in its current state, I'm sure the honest feedback is good for the devs and considering the comments I've seen, it looks like they're already taking notes from your video which is awesome. Alas, keep up the good work and looking forward to whatever you may have in store next. (Side note: A fun series I enjoy is the Craft to Exile series, hella fun Diablo inspired group of modpacks with a new one out recently that looks fun too)

daaamn this was a cool video showcasing a great modpack, i tried explorer's eve a bit ago but i dont think i quite understood how it worked so definitely gonna give it another go soon... once it's been updated to be playable, ofc though, i should mention that, unless the withered symbiont fight had some features not shown in the video, the withered symbiont was about the same as it is in the base witherstorm mod, down to the fireballs and mob spam, the only custom stuff was the tainted dust and new spawning/death events (and maybe the music? hard to tell from what little we heard) edit: perhaps the withered symbiont is cranked up a bit, it's actual abilities are normal but they might be cranked up to 11

Project Overpowered by SimplyBlizz was a fun modpack where I fell in love at first and it’s just under 15k downloads. It takes a fun approach to both skyblock and supposedly OP mods like ProjectE Another fun mod that you’d probably enjoy would be Dimension Drift by 8z0o. Like this modpack it would give a similar rush of thrill feeling. I guarantee. As it also starts you off in TF

If I wanted to fight the wither storm in netherite I would play vanilla with only the wither storm mod. A decoy that lasts 10+ minutes can be used to slow the wither storm long enough for you to fight bosses. The fact that the twilight forest has a final boss is absurdly amazing, so many people have been waiting for such a thing. I would restore the linearity of the biomes but not having them be lethal walls is extremely nice, and as for the bosses? The dev has that covered perfectly. The fact that the nether is the only safe place is hilarious and if it wasn’t it would be beyond unplayable. The nether is dangerous and the terrain is filled with holes leading to death so a constant chasing threat is a no go. I’m curious about the end as an elytra seems useful in the blue skies/aether dimension. Speaking of I wish there was more interaction there. And finally, as he was showing of the explorer’s gear I thought there was going to be a full set but I suppose not. What I don’t like about games that try to up the difficulty to max is that at some point they stop increasing difficulty and just start playing the “MORE!!” Meme… you do realize the most satisfying part of a challenge is the ending right?

You should attempt "Evolution reset", it is the single most unfair modded experience I have ever had. It is a brutal modpack where cheats are banned. No way around. Creative was disabled so no testing. Recipes are brutal and food management is a special spot of hell

Ard the parry mod. Shields have a cooldown but if you parry your shield will skip the cooldown the enemy takes more knockback and a bit of damage

creating a difficult Minecraft mod pack is such a challenge, even if you are exceptional at balancing there is always going to be people who will fall off of both sides, either it's to easy, or to hard. i think it's even harder in Minecraft because tbh minecrafts combat isn't exactly what i would call great, it works, and it can be fun at times, but it's honestly not what makes the game good. I think when mod packs push everything to the brink, cracks inevitably emerge. I, as an example, was not a fan of RLcraft due to it confusing unfairness with difficulty. it sucks to because theres obviously a lot of good to it, so i understand where EQ is coming from. i think what really sucks, is if a mod pack was just bad we could be like "damn that sucked" and move on. but when something like this shows so much promise but becomes ultimatly dissapointing due to too many flaws, it gets to you... hope the pack gets better, thanks for the great vid

The reason for the Wither Storm not being able to follow you in the Nether is because of Story Mode's canon Wither Storm breaking the portal. So basically, the mod dev knew of Story Mode's canon but allowed the portal to not break I guess.

Instead of a modpack you can try hypixel skyblock, one of the minigames in the hypixel server. I dont recommend doing a 100 days vid on it because it is HUGE.

Try adding the one who watches, the wendigo, cave dweller, from the fog , man from the fog, starved stalker, corpse stalker and the midnight lurker with some of these mods if possible too then say how difficult and unfair it is, from my gameplay if you don’t know how to play the mod or don’t know what they are about or add then you will die every 3 minutes
