5:51 Long fun-ish fact: Dipsters are only hard to recreate if you’re on mobile. The Steam version has graced us with the presence of midi files for each island. Granted, almost every monster is just a single long note for how long they play, but the one - technically seven exceptions to that rule are the Dipsters. While they are split into fourteen different samples (two for each Dipster), you just need to copy each one to a single sample, maybe make a few adjustments, and you’re done. TLDR: The Steam version basically does the recreating for you.

I swear, every monster with chords, fast-paced percussion/drum patterns, arpeggios, and/or even glissandos are the HARDEST monsters to recreate for covers, or for your case: element swaps. >X/ When I was initially making my GarageBand cover of Mythical Island last year when it was released, I had to delay its release because of how complicated Sporerow, and G’Joob were, and not only that, I’ve also struggled with the song’s time signature, debating if it’s in 4/4, or 3/6 solely *BECAUSE* of G’Joob’s note patterns. Congle, and ESPECIALLY Woolabee were also a NIGHTMARE every time that I’ve tried to work on Fire Oasis. Every time that I’ve attempted to work on Woolabee, its pattern either sounds off when I tried to play the song to its original speed, the notes are off by 1/16th of a beat, or it’s just straight up AWFUL in every aspect of it that I tried fixing. Some monsters are easier to work with when slowing down their sounds, but KZbin’s god-awful audio compression for the slowest speeds BUTCHERS the sound, and makes it sound like you’re crushing up several hundred bags of chips. And the thing is…this was NEVER the case years ago before KZbin updated, and made videos go silent when slowing down the playback speed, then updated again to add 0.25x speed as a playback speed setting. I envy composers for doing these things without fail in CONCERTS in front of hundreds of THOUSANDS of people.

I use BandLab for my MSM covers, and sometimes if it’s really fast and complicated (like Stogg on Faerie Island) I usually screen record the monster’s tracks and slow them down, doing only a few notes at a time and using my fingers to count how many times it’s in a measure, and rewind/replay it multiple times. Sometimes it’s so tough that I just use the ingame audio, or when BandLab doesn’t have the right or most accurate sound or instrument. Like when I did Faerie Island, I used an accordion for Pladdie before the app updated and released the bagpipe instrument, then I changed Pladdie to the bagpipe, and upgraded the cover with the new Fire Expansion monsters, then did a re-release.

7:37 lol from my experience dwumrhol is pretty easy to imitate, the ones I struggle with are Astropod and Bona-Petite. From Fire Haven since is the most recent one I recreated, I think Wubbox is the hardest one, but I could say Noggin is close, I mean it's not a hard island to make a cover of lol. And I feel you about Rhysmuth, it's easy to get confused with it. Though I didn't cover Vhenshun as idk where to find any sounds similar to its.
