When they pulled this thing out of the mountains, The idea seemed to be to fix it up enough to give Ed something to cruise around in and do some wheeling. Robby's over here building a concours level 10 show car. Can't wait to see Ed's reaction.

@@cath2035 I'm no body guy, but all those peaks and valleys on many of the surfaces of the nugget looks very labor intensive compared to smooth open panels of some classics. Would be interesting to know the labor spent per square foot.

ahhh, Spring City. You guys are killing me. My grandpa's childhood home was there, and I remember going down to Spring City several times every summer with him to paint, take care of weeds, maintenance and stuff. The old school, which is now a very nice facility, was vacant and full of pigeons back then, but it had this awesome spiral slide fire escape on the side, and we'd either sneak into the school, or climb up the slide, and slide back down. Damn, that thing was hot in the summer. I miss those days... thanks for the little glimpse!

I have a friend who had a full body off restoration by a famous shop in Virginia on a rare 1966 Jaguar sedan like the Queen mother had..The shop would call every time they needed more money and he really was never allowed to ask when the job would be done.. The project took 2 years and hundreds of thousands of dollars.. That said, your work rivals his car and you are a true Artisan.. As a former owner of a High end cabinet shop, I applaud you for teaching your guys the skills to be a true craftsman.. I think I will cry if Ed puts Canadian pin stripes on the nugget..

This is precisely why I never do bodywork. I don't have anywhere near the patience for it. Seems like you have to go over everything like 4x outside of bigger repairs and such. That is a ton of work!! Glad we have people like you that are so good at it!

this is an insane amount of hard work and attention to detail. I seriously didn't expect anyone to go so above and beyond restoring the Golden Nugget. Even the tiniest imperfection that nobody will ever see yall would still take the time to fix even if it took half a day. Seriously the hard work is insane. I have a '03 Crown Vic with the famous peeling paint.... hit it with 80 grit to get to metal, rattle canned it with Rustoleum white primer in the wind on a dirt driveway. Three years later, it still looks good. Flat, not glossy, but hey, it only cost $50 and an afternoon. lol. WAY better than the peeling mess when I got it!

Watch out! Here comes some free advice. I learned this from a 1960's era body man, the best I've ever known. When blocking a panel with compound curves, sand in small circles as you move the block around the curves. It works great and also helps break up the monotony.
