Yes, coat the exhaust. As pretty as the burnt bronze would be, I think it should be black to match the nugget exhaust (and everything else). As someone else mentioned, it would also be cool to reupholster the seat in a darker leather to match the wood on the trailer.

Yeah, chrome is the right answer on this one. You need something to match the chrome on the front end. Black is the color you use when you want to hide details. No need to hide the details on this bad boy.

Seems to me the trailer needs a small toolbox / large ammo can mounted on it to hold some bits and bobs and fuel for the rokon. ALSO, if you re-upholster the rokon seat in a deep brown leather, it could match the running boards on the trailer.

I agree! With one exception, the engine and transmission should be painted black so the Bronze Ceramic pops a little more, also wrapping the first 2 feet of exhaust with Design Engineering DEI 10129 - DEI Titanium Exhaust Wrap with LR Technology would look sweet.

Robby, adding oil to 40:1 mixed gas will actually take it closer to the 20:1 ratio. When the Rokon was new, two stroke oils was more like regular engine oil so you would have to use a lot more oil to achieve the right lubrication. 50:1 actually has less oil in the mix than 40:1 mix. With modern 2 stroke oil, the mix ratio doesn’t need to be as extreme because of the lubricatjng capability of the oils being way better than old oil was. So no need to add oil in the future! Of course, as long as you don’t go crazy with the oil mix it’s not gonna hurt a fresh engine to have a little extra oil!

The pine on that trailer is the perfect touch! I rode a Rokon in the swamps in the 70s and it impressed the heck out of me. I found the foot pegs to be poorly placed but other than that it is a slow beast.

I had 4 lovely girls and that 1 of yours is a beautiful little doll. Dont blink too many times because they grow up way too fast. The Rokon is not all that big in the large scheme, so the gold has to be broken up with other colours. Black is always a good option.

When you hear a whistling sound coming from the engine, that’s 40:1 instead of 20:1 about to seize up that cool old motor. Huge risk on an opinion about synthetic oil.

No it won't. It's not an opinion either. AMS oil will tell you the same thing about their oil lineup for older stuff used to call for 32:1 you can now run a 50:1

Current Rokon manuals call for 40:1. Rokon owners (old and new) run their mix with regular oil anywhere from 16:1 to 40:1, and with synthetic anywhere from 40-50:1 up to 100:1.

ROBBY! The ramp on the trailer NEEDS to be full width. I couldn't begin to count how many people I've seen stop part-way up a narrow ramp like that, try to put a foot down, find nothing there, and end up on their side with a wrecked bike. Ed isn't nearly as coordinated as you young guys. I know this because I'm old too. He WILL drop that bike off the side of that ramp if it isn't widened.

@@SksYugo I don't know if you ride or if you've loaded many bikes on trailers or lifts but I started riding in 1969 and have loaded literally hundreds (if not thousands) of bikes on or in trailers, service lifts and trucks/vans. The ramp isn't wide enough for him to walk up next to the bike or sit on the bike and "crab walk" the bike up. That's the problem. Even though the trailer is pretty low, if he stops when the front wheel is on the ramp and the back wheel is still on the ground, his feet won't be able to reach the ground and he'll go over. A guy would think "well he just shouldn't stop then" but it isn't nearly that simple. What would be simple is to widen the ramp. They could even widen it with wood on each side to match the trailer deck. Either full width or just one plank on each side. The extensions could be completely finished and then bolted to the trailer and the existing ramp so as not to harm the existing paint or stain. That would seem a lot better than even taking a chance on Ed getting hurt or the Rokon's paint getting wrecked.

@@danmoore6107 What he's saying is that the trailer is low enough to the ground that you can walk beside the bike ON THE GROUND while it's going up the ramp in gear, and then step onto the trailer for the rest of the way. This isn't a 70 ton harley with a tall 1st gear that high centers on a short ramp. Having a full size ramp on the rear will require additional support built for the ramp to stow against, likely making the trailer tail heavy. Not to mention the fact that it's going to be more difficult to stow and deploy, all the horrible aerodynamics involved with an expanded steel wall the size of the trailer itself, and they'd probably have to redesign and repaint most of the trailer, just because you have different experiences with different trailers and different motorcycles.

And why on Earth would you NOT make it as easy, as safe, and as simple as you possibly can for Ed? Robby, as an FYI, if you did not know, Chrysler owned Evinrude. The motor is an Evinrude 134cc from the 1960s, with a transmission. A source of info on the motor would be old time kart racers. In the day they loved the Evinrude motor. Also, if you know anyone that subscribes to Motorcycle Classics magazine get their copy of the Nov/Dec 2021 issue. It has an article on the Ronkon.
