In this video, we delve into the harsh truth of Jayden Daniels, whose career trajectory mirrors that of the dynamic Robert Griffin III. From their early days as promising talents to their rise through the college ranks and into the NFL, both quarterbacks have faced their share of challenges and triumphs.
Jayden Daniels, a Heisman Trophy winner from LSU, has made waves with his dual-threat capabilities, much like RGIII did in his time. Both athletes have shown exceptional skill in both passing and rushing, setting them apart as versatile and formidable quarterbacks.
But what lies beneath the surface of their success? Join us as we explore the parallels between Daniels' and Griffin's careers, including their high expectations coming into the league, the pressure to perform at the highest level, and the harsh reality of the NFL's demanding nature.
As Daniels steps into his new role with the Washington Commanders, we reflect on RGIII's journey and consider the lessons that can be learned. What does it take to maintain longevity in a league that is unforgiving to even its brightest stars?

In 2012, RG3 was the recipient of one of the greatest offensive coaching staffs of all time. He forced the owners hand to get them all fired. Today, many are head coaches, and two have been in the Super Bowl and one a winner.

I mean Robert has said he wouldn’t have sat on the bench no matter what when he was coming back from that knee injury. He did kind of force their hand. Shanahan made it work RG3’s rookie year. The truth is no responsible adult went to RG3 and said YOUR KNEE IS MASSIVELY SPAINED. SIT. DOWN. That would have completely changed the trajectory of his career.

Robert Griffin was the architect of his own downfall. Roberts ego was out of control. He never put the time into the film room ( his work on his body was epic, but he wasn't a studier) and his early success fed that ego. By year two he was dictating offensive choices to the coaches. You could see how thoroughly unprepared he was at times to the point of not being able to make adjustments at the line . When Gruden benched him Robert didn't seem to even know the offense.

I 100% agree, he lost the locker room because of his ego, he also went over Shanahan’s head to Dan Snyder and told Snyder he didn’t want to run the read option he wanted to be a pocket QB and Snyder forced Shannahan to cut back on the read option which is why he went 3-10 as a starter in his second year, because RG3 is not a pocket passer.

Having been a Washington fan since 1968, I view the RG3 time in Washington, DC, as follows: (A) RG3 could have been a little more coachable in terms of humility and done a better job of taking responsibility as the team leader, regardless of other player's issues. (B) Dan Snyder's manipulation ego and overall sick persona were awful the entire time he was CEO. (C) The coaching staff allowed a hurt RG3 on the field; all players want to play regardless of injuries or pain, and the coaching staff knew this from experience and allowed Robert to play sometimes at 60-80% health. That's 90% on Snyder, 70% on the coaching staff, and 10% on Robert. I was at the rainy Ravens game when Robert hurt his knee. He was allowed to come back and play too soon. This was the turning point of Robert's career. Had Robert's injuries been managed better, he could have lasted longer and become a much better quarterback than the great quarterback that he was.

The scenarios between Jayden and RG3 couldn't be more different. The only thing they got in common are they're skinny mobile QBs. Let's go over the differences: 1. Snyder is no longer the owner. Make no mistake this is the biggest difference. We had the worst owner in all of sports for nearly 25 years! 2. Jayden can actually play QB. He not a sprinter with a hose of an arm like RG3. He's not quite as athletic but his football processing is being compared to CJ Stroud. RG3 couldn't process anything. 3. RG3 had a massive ego and injury problem that both got him kicked outta the league sooner rather than later. From all accounts Jayden got neither of these problems.

Hate to say it cuz I will always love RG3, but he was very cocky coming into the league. He made sure to constantly say he was qb1 over Cousins which everyone already knew. He could go to Snyder anytime and get his way, which he did. He had a gimmick that worked for awhile, the RPO. Do you go after RG3 or Morris? They figured him out, injury plagued, couldn’t slide, and wasn’t a pocket passer. JD is more humble, much more willing to learn new things, and can pass or run better than most. I am very excited.

I do think what is different is that before when we got RGIII we didn't have a good quarterback nor good management. Sam Howell, despite his INTs, is a damn good QB. This time we are making decisions based on team playstyle and drafting BPA instead of filling holes as the priority. I am excited to see what this staff can do over these couple of years. It's clear they aren't trying to just make do with what is available they are go-getters. Making trades and making moves to fit their plan for the future.

The thing that you should note is Snyder went out of his way to make RGIII look like a savior. Peters, Quinn, and Kingsbury all went the opposite direction, even kept him away from the draft parties and interviews so no one got that idea. Plus the coaches AND GM wanted Jayden, neither Shanahan wanted to give up so much to take RGIII, but that wasn't their decision. Times have changed and believe it or not this management group knows what they're doing.

RG3 benefited from Kyle Shanahan play action offense that added option to make it even harder to stop the run, making play action even more deadly when 8 in the box was necessary just to avoid 20 yard runs. Jayden Daniels isn't going to have that kind of breakout first year; but the way he takes hits, as bad as RG3 did, esp in the pocket getting bashed, might shorten his career like RG3.

The line @7:57 "one player no matter how talented, cannot single handedly turn a franchise around" is just unequivocally false. There are TONS of example where the addition of one player (especially a QB) absolutely turns a franchise around. Look at the addition of Stefon Diggs to the Bills, or the most obvious example of Burrow in Cincy. You take away those players from their teams and the overall team performance drops off a cliff. I understand the sentiment of "it take a whole team to win" but that definitely does NOT mean one player cant change the course of a franchise.

Let’s hope he’s nothing like RG3, he didn’t know how to get down and not take a hit, he literally didn’t know how to slide he would just drop on his butt. Not only that when he got outside the pocket he would only think about running, he would tuck the ball like a running back and take off. Also as QB that can run, when you get outside the pocket you need to use your threat of running to bring the defense in and it will open up space for the receiver’s, you shouldn’t tuck the ball right away you should still be looking to throw and using pump fakes to move the defense and if nothing is there then tuck it and run. RG3 sucked at doing this.

He got hurt because he put his body in harm's way as an 175lbs QB. JD is a lot better in the pocket. I will say I'm sorry RG had to experience SNYDER no one should have to be under that REGIME; however, he was not blameless in his demise. If it was just Washington's fault, he should have been able to recover at the other teams he played for. Good luck JD, RG3 let others shine where you failed, it's okay it wasn't gods plan for you!
