The Hasselblad 75P is a new lens in the "P" or "Portable" series that features a lightweight and compact design. The tradeoff is a smaller maximum aperture, but at f/3.4 it still delivers exceptional image performance and gorgeous bokeh. I've been using this on the Hasselblad X2D as well as the 907x and have been very impressed with the image quality. This is a welcome addition to the XCD lineup and works great with the mirrorless XCD Hasselblad Camera.

Just ordered mine today after a long search for someone who actually had it in stock. Santa is coming early this year for me. I love everything about this lens and the sharpness is outstanding. I have been holding off on getting additional lenses - I have the 45 P and the 90. This completes my kit. I will be happy for a long time to come since it definitely fills my photography needs.

I now have the. 75P. At the same time I also ordered an extension tube for the X system. This really yielded unexpected benefits especially with this lens. Just opens up additional capabilities that are amazing with this lens. I love this lens and it is on my camera as my go to lens. You may want to consider doing a short video on the X extension tube and what it opens up as possible.

I really wish that they would have a roadmap. I literally paid about twice as much for the 90V just 2 weeks ago - which I probably would not have done had I known that this was just round the corner.

Fully agree. - I have the 2.5/90V also, it’s not as portable but it has the push/pull manual focus ring, a shutter speed up to 1/4000, that’s quite handy making portraits using strobes against the sun.

Great addition. Thanks too for the tips on crops and buttons mapping. I'm amazed at the image quality - even as an existing X2D user. No CA at all, and nice looking rolloff. Looks APO/Otus level. I'll put in my vote for a 105 or 125/135/150 in the P series, f/4, or at the longer end, even f/5.6 (500g or less target). I have the 38V and 55V, but at the longer end it would be P all the way for me - the difference between packing the lens and not. I loved the images form the 80/1.9, but never travelled with it, so I sold it. If they can deliver another P at the longer end at the apparent quality of this 75/3.4 P, then I'm in for one in the 100mm+ range.

I'm always on the lookout for compact, high-quality lenses. I'm curious to see how this lens performs in low-light conditions. If it can handle challenging lighting situations, it could be a game-changer for portrait photographers.

I love the P Serie : 28P & 45P work great on my X1D2, light & sharp for outdoor work (+ afordable). I already love the 75P. Thank you for the review. I wish we could preset the crop mode on X1D2 like you do on X2D. That would simplefy things so much.

Hi, I know you also shoot the V-series cameras. I use a 500C/M + CFV100 quite often with the 100mm/3.5 CF lens. With the different crop factors this seems to be a similar focal length. Would be amazing to see a comparison with that old lens, or at least your opinion if you have that one, especially for architectural photography.

Just got my first Hassie (X2D) and started conservatively with the 28P to learn the system. This is intriguing but so is the 90V. No rush though. I wonder what the next P or E series might be?

Awesome lens thanks for the review. - On the beautiful image like at 8:50 it’s not necessary to compensate (rise) the shadows and (lower) the highlights. But if you need it, it makes the image more flat but it can be made crispy again by rising the clarity and/or dehaze slider. Adobe’s development module introduces ugly halos. Hasselblad’s Phocus doesn’t. Unfortunately you can’t use it on 3FR raw files and must convert the first to FFF and it’s also slow, even on M3 Macs. I wished, Hasselblad updates Phocus for Mac/PC and makes it as performant as Phocus 2 for iOS, make it 3FR compatible but keeps the additional functionality of Phocus for Mac and PC such as adjustment layers, keystone, etc. and focus bracketing for tethered cameras. - Using Phocus needs a learning curve, but the results are far better as the results from Adobe’s development engine (the same for LrC, Lr, ACR) and its free.

Well done and images to support your conclusions that were great res. Thanks. Seeking your opinion: 78 years, can't hike distances at this point, have X2D, 30mm XCD,shoot 98% landscapes, 2% portraits or still life. Finding that I need a mid range tele (maybe 70 but 90, 100,?, might work) to bring the "scene" to me rather than I go to it on MANY occasions. Also, I like to take a scene and shoot a pano of 5 across, and then stitch them; a 30mm scene but shoot 4 or 5 across with 100mm. So even a "closer scene" can be chopped up into 5 across, stitched, and have incredible detail when printed. Question: What would be your one and only compliment lens to the 30 XCD given what I described. I'm even open to something like a Hassie 100mm3.5 CFi T* logic that in the past was excellent on the 39MP digital, but no idea how it would fair on the X2D with adapter. Thanks

I think you sold me. Didn’t think I needed it considering the 55 v & 90 v in my bag. But I love my 28p even though I have the 25 v - bottom line is the P and the value. Should compliment the 907x100 setup well. I’ll leave the 55 & 90 on the X2D My favorite combo for streets is 907x + 28p - I’d love a 21p 🤞 something closer to the SWC/CF biogon 38

The smalness of the xcd p lenses together with the medium format hasselblad X1D and X2D camera's has become even more compelling to me. Now to find the funds and probably what to sell what I already own 😅 but not use often anymore.

@rbos6001

@@forgewire who said I wanted to use it for portraits and if I do I always stop down a bit I am not of the 1.2/1.4 generation. Also if you want to have that bokeh fullframe is the platform you need not medium format. Doesnt mean that at 3.4 you cant make beautiful portraits. Also note that the medium format is usually not associated with shallow depth of field and bokeh, but more story driven eg. You see the surroundings of the one your taking a portrait of. Due to the sensor size and the more tele lenses (compression) you will get a look that seems to have more "depth". So still dont understand your remark tbh. Medium format is a different beast then fullframe or apsc you shouldnt buy it if you want to blur the background imo.

75mm a "Telephoto for medium format" where 80mm is "standard...? And, as so often, I learned something interesting even if I will never be able to afford a Hasselblad! ...Or perhaps, one day a used one at KEH, since Hasselblad cares for people with small wallets? To me that makes a camera and lens maker stand out: Do they only make the big "1.2 lenses for thousands of $ or do they also care for the small budget photographer! So kudos Hasselblad ❤️ Incidentally, my condolences to the outcome of the election. It is hard to go on in such dark times. Having good spirits who keep going no matter what to give others something positive to think about is precious! Thank you for that! Have a good day!❤️

Depends on which "medium format" you're referring to. 645? 6x6? 6x7? 6x8? 6x9? 617? All of them have very different diagonals. 80mm diagonal sounds like 6x6 film, which this camera's sensor is far from. The sensor here is 44x33mm, so the diagonal is 55mm, making a 75mm lens technically a short telephoto giving an angle of view comparable to a 58mm lens on 135 format (where the diagonal is 43mm).

@ Yes, I understand, Ted explained at the end. But come far more from film times as I like to admit, I had the 80mm in mind you'd found then labelled as "standard" in the catalogue. Thank you for sharing!

I always value your thorough reviews, especially when it comes to the XCD lineup. I also think you're a talented photographer who has the ability to produce beautiful images with any lens. That said, my eyes tell me that the 75P doesn't quite match the same level of image quality as the 90V or the 80mm f/1.9. The difference in image quality between the 90V and the 80mm f/1.9 feels smaller in comparison. I genuinely appreciate that Hasselblad has introduced this much-needed lens at a lower price point, with the added advantages of portability and compact size. However, I can't quite agree with many KZbinrs who claim that this lens delivers "the same sharpness, overall image quality, and rendering" as more expensive options like the 90V.
