Good point about the 45P. Some of my best photos have come from that lens. I was shocked how good that lens is.

Thank you Hugh ...but these are just words ...love you to demonstrate this with images and comments about each image and how they are different/better. Similarly with much of your other work ...too much details not enough bottom line whys...and comparisons. Too much info about the equipment ...Thank you . But to put things in balance I love how warm and human you are and your authentic and respectful behaviour. Your fabulous relationship with Claudia is heart warming and a good example for us all. Thank you . George

We have the LS60's - the only job I ever had (photography doesn't count as a job) was selling high end Hi-Fi for a few years back in the late 80's Audio Excellence Gloucester UK - Kef has always been my choice - and probably always will - I would imagine the little ones make great studio monitors too - just got our little 75, more useful than the XCD 90v for us - works great.

Today, I secured mine I saw it in stock on-line and had to call to confirm. The clerk went to the back room and secured it, I ordered and when I checked the website after ordering it was out of stock. I have the 45p and love using it, but this definitely completes my bag for the two have to have lenses for my work. I have seen other lab tests of this lens and it is amazing design and image quality that is more than outstanding. It does outperform some of the V lenses in some areas. A budget Hasselblad that performs well above its weight. (sorry about that pun). What I like about the P series is they have given you a great lens optically with no extra controls. It is just the perfect jewel for this camera and shines bright for a lot of people. Santa has come early this year and it is going to used for the annual extended family Christmas dinner event at the family home which has been going on for well over 100 years.

Nice review and I agree with your sentiments wrt the 75p - I'm still going to keep the 80 and 90V. I am simply not convinced by some of the newer lenses 75P and theE lenses -- I want the focus clutch and control ring (which I use to adjust EV or exposure bias if you prefer when no shooting in M mode - I still want to use autoISO with A mode with min shutter speed 3x focal length - unless in low light). That said the 45P is my preferred walk around lens. Yes - auto ISO in M mode would be helpful. BTW - focus of your vid looked like you applied a mist filter in some segments.

I was astonished by the MTF charts and some shots on Hasselblad site, until I noticed in some of them some ghost/doubling of lines in slightly out of focus parts. You’ll have to pixel peep maybe, but that’s the point of a 100MP sensor I think… I don’t know how often that kind of defects appear, but I noticed it in two shots in a row…

Those little runs you do, like the stat and price rundown around 1:30 , are so impressive. I would sputter and stumble. Last time I'll ask (unless something else happens), but how are you feeling? Mended up?

@@3BMEP Thank you Hugh! I get it now. The XCD V-Series lenses: have brighter apertures, more on-lens physical features and are more expensive; assumingly heavier too. The XCD P-Series lenses: have slower apertures, and are less expensive, lighter too and more "portable." i am still using the older Hasselblad film 503cx, and have only ever wanted to couple it with the 907X & CFV 100 digital back. I have never been interested in the new lenses. That said, when your notification came through, curiosity got the better of me, and I had to watch the video. Thank you again. I now know what direction I will head into for my next Hasselblad purchase.

With every photo ever taken on the Moon being shot on a Hasselblad, along with the rest of the space race, and innumerable studio work gone uncredited I think to say that Hasselblad are on par with, rather than second to, Leica in terms of pedigree.

Unfortunately there is a long list of shortcomings in the X system bodies. Everybody will have their own, but for me the number 1, as someone who wants to change lenses in the field, is the complete lack of either sensor protection or sensor dust shaker. The second is the lack of an ergonomic focus point selection tool. Those two issues alone make upgrading my X1DII to an X2D unattractive. Then again, I would NOT want to end up with an industry-standard over-complex button and dial sprouting ergonomic nightmare.

Not sure about you, but the images look very similar to a Sony. Not bashing, just look very similar. I own both Sony and a 500cm and on the fence about purchasing the digital back for my 500cm.
@3BMEP
@3BMEP Ай бұрын
From resolution and color perspectives, both are a function of scale, cropping, and compression of relatively low res 4K video. But the Sony does remain compelling for value.

Hey Hugh - I am big fan of you and your content, but I took your advice and used KEH to buy my "Like New Minus" Q2, which arrived yesterday, and it has clearly been dropped on cement given the scrap/rash on the metal. OK, not sure that qualifies for Like New Minus, so I called... Lionel at KEH told me that I would have to send them pics... of the camera they just shipped to me! I started the call by asking if there was a product specialist I could talk to about the Q2s (they have another one available at the same grade - should I exchange, etc). But he said that wasn't possible. Either way, this is looking like my last purchase from KEH. I know that you can't take personal responsiblity for their performance, but I also get the strong sense that you are very ethically grounded and would want to know this kind of thing. It is a $4,200 camera, after all, a very big purchase for me.

@@3BMEP I am so impressed, but not surprised by your response, Hugh. And now I want to take one of your symposia more than ever. Thanks again for your help, but it seems KEH are only willing to send another sight-unseen replacement without letting me see pics to determine if it is any better than the first one they sent - meanwhile I am spending all of this time dealing with their issues. It just brings into question their whole claim that their products are thoroughly checked before they resell them.

I love so much about the X2D, but I found so many issues that would make the cameras unliverable on a daily basis. The most frustrating is the EVF sensor, which I found to be terrible. It was so frustratingly unreliable. I played around with the short and normal setting but neither worked well. The second issue is the LCD, it just makes life so much easier, when you can both pull out in Landscape and pull up in portrait. Fujifilm, Nikon and Panasonic all are able to do it. This really needs to be a part of the next version.

The one thing the X2D lacks and why I'm keeping my SL2 for now is in body perspective correction. Trying to justify the 75P as I already have the 25V, 45P and original 80/1.9. But as it mimics a FF 50mm that might not be difficult.
