On Her Majesty’s Secret Service definitely had the best one! Lazenby does it so quick and casual, a Bond with confidence and precision. And pretty sure in No Time to Die, the ID badge toss was a nod to these classics.
@Rhubba7 жыл бұрын
I never drew the link between the hat toss in Moneypenny's office and Bond throwing Oddjob's hat at the bars. Bond prides himself on never missing the hatstand...could it be that he was always intending to lodge the hat in the bars? Goldfinger's script was already great, it might have got greater!
@janicecampbell42126 жыл бұрын
A better scene would have had Bond striking Oddjob with the villain's own hat; hoisted by his own petard! I mean please we've had worst clichéd villain deaths through the years...Hell the series is practically known for them! Then again I wish Jack "McGarrett" Lord would have stayed as Felix. There was such a strong chemistry between him and Sean. But yes Oddjob's hat flying through the bars and landing on the ground behind them would have been OH so much more satisfying than the hat getting stuck...Although it being stuck did lead to Oddjob's demise so maybe...just maybe that was Bond's plan from the beginning. The metallic sharp blade frying him just like the fan in the bathtub during the pre-title sequence. I don't know how many times I've seen Goldfinger, it's one of my all time favorite films. I can't believe I never made that connection before! What a great script!!

It's just that a hat stand wouldn't duck but Odd job did.

of course he did. if you watch, Bond sidesteps so that oddjob backs up to the bars.

The first half of Goldfinger is good but after that it becomes really boring and laboured, and I can never get over Bond properly forcing himself on Galore and thereby changing her sexuality too...the suggestions and implications of that are absolutely bizarre, and creepy doesn't even come close. That being said, Craig in Spectre forcing himself on the woman who's husband he's just executed is a very very close second.

I think with Lazenby, it was like a son and a mother figure especially at the end with the wedding. It felt like a son going off. With Moore, it felt like Connery’s relationship but aged. They both grew up as an aged couple.
@frankie39874 жыл бұрын
Moore's Bond and Moneypenny is especially disappointing because Moore and Lois Maxwell were friends offscreen. The writing never translated well with the two until the last few entries in the Moore era but they aged so much at that point.
@M1tjakaramazov3 жыл бұрын
That’s because Connery’s bond was a more aggressive kind of womaniser and he seemed genuinely into her. In the later instalments the women mostly fell in his lap with zero effort…

you missed one! In "Moonraker", Bond is wearing the hat of his dead gondolier, while paddling a gondola in Venice. When he gets out of the boat (to sneak into the glass factory) he tosses the hat onto an oarlock of the gondola, in classic Bond fashion. It's an obvious reference to the hat toss tradition.
