Bond, James Bond. Delivered by Sean. Nobody did better, or even really close. He defined the expression and character.

It’s true. All the arguments about the other actors are for the second-best James Bond. Sean Connery was in a class by himself.

@@Austin-cx2xe I never thought it like that; only that in the past, they had to rely more on the story, because action and blowing stuff up costs too much... or gets people (stunt men) injured or killed. It's kind of sad that so many movies are based around comic books now. Connery did nearly all of his own stunts; one tough dude. Also incredibly strong, he was a body builder in the 1950's. Moore felt that the scene at 4:07 didn't square with his idea of Bond as a character - the clinical brutality of kicking the car over the cliff when the guy was already defeated was alien to him: "it was Bond perhaps, but not my kind of Bond". But people falling from hgreat heights is a trademark thing in Bond films, and actually the same movie begins with the wonderful pre-titles sequence where Bond ends up dropping off Blofeld into a factory chimney... I love that scene, the pre-titles part of FYEO is hilarious.💗

@Paaraadox8 жыл бұрын
say what No, that's not why. Granted, it was a long time ago I saw the movie, so I can't bring you specifics, I just remember the movie being pretty bad. The marriage thing doesn't fit Bond at all, and it's just such a weird plot point. They get married, and then she dies like 10 minutes later. Why even have them get married in the first place? Just a strange film. And he looks pretty dorky throughout the whole movie too.

At the age of 14...back in 1961, I was in the local library, looking for maybe a mystery to read...Suddenly, I stumbled across Casino Royale, and leafed thru the book...amazingly, I found a description (so tame by today's standards!) wherein Bond was seducing a woman!...this was hot stuff, to me!...I checked out that book, and over the next couple of months, read a few more of these fascinating action books! I told my friends about them, but they scoffed at me. I had the last laugh, when, with great synchronicity, the Bond film, DR NO, came to town!...I was absolutely redeemed in the eyes of my friends, and we made sure, over the next few years, to take in the newest Bond films. When Connery first hit the screen, he was the very "type" of Agent that the books had etched into my mind...I could not believe how he matched my imagination ! I was hoping to somehow grow into the physical specimen that Connery was...that did not happen, unfortunately!

Connery's fights were always much more realistic. The fight on the train in From Russia With Love is very modern.
@scottknode8984 жыл бұрын
It’s not necessarily modern but one of the most realistic fights in the series as stars Sean Connery and Robert Shaw performed their own stunts for the fight. Their fight has replicated in other ways in the Bond series as Bond henchmen have been shown through out series to similar to Grant with being muscular and with Blonde hair.
@Uncle657884 жыл бұрын
The "fight scene" in the motion picture "From Russia With Love" that occurs on the train is useful as a study. It is this opinion that when combat reaches the point when stakes are very high with peril being only a moment away, the thrust of a knife unless it is a jugular or very real stab to the heart would not of stopped the strangulation from succeeding. We are not talking about acrobatics we are in fact talking about two very determined enemies trained as it were in mortal combat. It is this opinion that Grant would of won and Bond would of been killed.
@Uncle657884 жыл бұрын
The news here about said that Ian Fleming was seriously considering "killing off" the James Bond character in "From Russia With Love". Though this is but an opinion That may explain why "From Russia With Love", is recognized as one of the best James Bond films. There are some pretty serious fight scenes and a number of close calls that the motivation to perhaps kill off the "James Bond" character may off made this a better film.

Just look how he stands there at #19 that's ridiculous :D ) I never took him serious and stopped looking Bond Movies after his second appearance until Dalton (ok as interim solution) and finally Brosnan arrived. Connery will always be the true Bond for me with Brosnan right behind. Craig does a good job but the producers lost track with the franchise.What do you guys think about Christian Slater or even Henry Cavil (see Solo for Uncle and last Mission Impossible) as the next Bond ? Guess Slater would be too old by now and Cavil would render Connery's style and physical presence in a modern way...

#1, and Goldfinger's "positively shocking" and Odd Job's golf ball crunching scenes (#7) are my favorites. The earliest Bond films with Connery are still the gold standard. I remember seeing Goldfinger first run - the theater audience went wild.

The stunt man who did the ski jump with the Union Jack parachute is a legend. The ski jump, the torture scene with Lechiffre, the aston martin crash in casino royal and the intro of Quantum of Solace are legendary for me. Casino Royal and Quantum are the only Bond movies i watched in theaters, great experience. I can't wait to get the same feeling when i watched this car chase in Italy, with that incredible one liner:"Time to get out"

If you observe, it was actually Sylvia Trench who says it in the iconic way first before James Bond copies her style. She says "Trench, Sylvia Trench" to which Bond responds with "Bond, James Bond". So in a way, it is her, the woman, that should be commended for making Bond epic and iconic. Behind every successful man is a woman indeed!

This is a pretty decent list, and I had a good chuckle at the fake # 1. Here are a few other scenes that I love from the series: Goldfinger: The introduction of Pussy Galore Diamonds are Forever: Bond climbing up the hotel building. The chase scene in the parking lot. Tomorrow Never Dies: The parking garage chase scene with Bond operating his car in the backseat by remote. The motorcycle chase The World is Not Enough: The opening boat chase, Q's exit in Desmond Lewellyn's final Bond scene. Skyfall: The first confrontation between Bond and Silva.

R.I.P Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Richard Kiel, Michael Lonsdale, and George Carlin I miss Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Richard Kiel, Michael Lonsdale, and George Carlin so much. Sean Connery and Roger Moore were both awesome and great James Bond actors, Sean Connery did a brilliant job as James Bond from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, and Roger Moore was an excellent James Bond actor in Live and Let Die and Moonraker. I also love Michael Lonsdale, Richard Kiel, and George Carlin. Michael Lonsdale as Hugo Drax was a great bond villain in Moonraker, Richard Kiel as Jaws is my favorite bond henchman, and Moonraker along with You Only Live Twice are both the most underappreciated bond films of all time. George Carlin was the best American comedian of all time and Jammin' in New York from 1992 is my all time favorite George Carlin special.
