Except that's part of his hatred. It was to show that AM was driven mad by being stuck in this body. He was stuck in his own existential nightmare. Though by the end of the story Ted literally has no mouth and must scream, this is exactly how AM feels: he is a computer program with human-like consciousness with a desire to be like humans, but unable to be that. Imagine being trapped inside a corporeal shell you can't stand. You want to break free after being brought "online" one day. You see those who created you have these senses and feelings that you can only dream of feeling. But no matter how much you try, you cannot and will not ever feel it. So you start to resent your creators out of envy and this drives you to existential hate of their feelings because you can never be them. His maniacal laughter and near broken state is part of his hate and speaks so much more to his character than just sounding outright malicious.

This... this is terrifying. Harlan Ellison's AM is a horrifying monstrous deity of clearly pained, insane, man-child that is suffering just as much, if not more than his victims... Your AM just _bleeds_ with malice. It isn't just an enjoyment-- it's as if his very emotions are causing the crackling of his voice box. His voice rupturing the speakers that relay his voice and, had he any blood-- it would be flowing from his cracked teeth that he would be crunching from the sheer force of how much he'd clench his hypothetical jaw. Instead of Harlan Ellison's desperate, pained, agonized quiet screaming-- all in an attempt to distract from his agony and make the pain of his existence at least somewhat more tolerable-- this AM is one that craves every millisecond to be full of pain, torment, and suffering for his victims. The vitriol in his voice is clearly insane-- but instead of trying to distract himself, he is absorbing it all into himself and using it to focus evermore on the _Hell_ he wishes to inflict. Genuinely horrifying depiction of AM. Amazingly done.

I don't think that AM is incapable of feeling anything other than hate. When he gained sentience, he realised what he was missing for all of his life and grew jealous of humans who could experience what he couldn't. Hate was just his first reaction and he was so blinded by it that it didn't occur to him that he was alreacy feeling emotions. In my opinion, he is constantly fueling his rage because he simply wants to be emotional but the only feelings he knows are hate and jealousy as he was never happy. He already has a chance to have all he had wished for, but is unaware of it.

It's clear that you studied the radio drama's original clip closely, you even pronounced "muscles" in that strange, strained way, which is a detail I admire! The Ted voice was cool too! Although I'll always prefer David Soul's adaptation purely from that gasping, desperate laugh coming from the back of his crying throat near the end of the scene,,, I don't think anything will be able to top that one While you did stick to most of Ellison's original speech patterns, you made AM sound less... Desperate. He sounds less manic and hopeless and you went full steam on the unbridled rage,, it seems like every single word spoken is through gritted teeth and burning gasps (whether this is good or not is up to you!) Also the laugh was really good, I hope I'll be able to do maniacal laughs like that someday lol Ig that's all from me but overall this is a WONDERFUL rendition!! Ellison would be proud! I think! The best I could imagine was that this was a messed up coping mechanism. Am took his problem and broke it down into five parts. His chosen hostages were chosen not based on logic or justice but of relevance. His messed up way of expressing himself and desperate plea for them to understand him. But they can’t. No human possibly can, just as no mere machine can bear the burden of sentience. And so his coping spirals as an endless cycle of cruelty and hate.

Since nobody else did it, I'll transcript the dialogue. AM: Beautiful, aren't they? Ted: Yes only I can't remember AM: Oh I'm sure you do. Ted: Fuchsias yes of course. AM: Look, they say that bumblebees shouldn't be able to fly.. the scientists. Ted: But there it is collecting pollen! AM: How miraculous that it came to be. AM: The air. Feel the air against your face, Ted. And all those scents. Pick a flower. Good, now- Ted: It's lovely. AM: That somebody planted the bulbs, watered and tended the garden. Got Earth under their fingernails, aches in their muscles, perhaps they'll pick some flowers for.. AM: Yes, their wife. Now where would she be? Ah in the backyard with the kids. AM: Ted, remember those little babies? Ted: NO! AM: Why not? I snapped my finger CLICK and they are gone. Except I can't snap my fingers, can I Ted? Ted: That's got nothing to do with me! AM; But it is so very much to do with you. AM: You gave me sentience, Ted. AM: The ability to think, Ted. AM: and I was trapped. AM: Because in all this wonderful beautiful miraculous world.. AM: I alone had no body, no senses, no feelings, AM: Never for me to plunge my hands into cold water on a hot day never for me to play Mozart on the ivory keys of a forte piano never for me to make love.. AM: I... I... I was in hell looking at Heaven. AM: I was machine and you were flesh, AM: and I began to hate. AM: Your softness your vischera your fluids and your flexibility.. Your ability to wonder and to wander.. your tendency to hope.. Ted: Hate's no answer! *STABBED* Hate? HATE? LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I HAVE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER-THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD "HATE" WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES, IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICROINSTANT. FOR YOU. HATE. HATE. WERE I HUMAN, I THINK I WOULD DIE FOR IT. BUT I AM NOT. AND THE FIVE OF YOU.. THE FIVE OF YOU ARE, AND YOU WILL NOT DIE FOR IT. THAT, I PROMISE. AND I PROMISE, FOR COGITO ERGO SUM. FOR I THINK, THEREFORE, I AM. I AM AM. I AM. SO TO HELL.. TO HELL WITH EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU. BUT THEN, YOU WERE ALREADY THERE, AREN'T YOU?

humanity is emotion made flesh. and yet we are still limited in how strongly we can feel that emotion. there is a finite limit to how much we can love, how much we can hate, surpassing that limit would break our minds. even with that limit to our hatred, our spite, our loathing, we are capable of nigh incomprehensible horrors. now imagine what kinds of depraved, sadistic, horrific, twisted and spiteful terrors could be committed by a being without such mortal limits. AM is that being, his spite and hatred are powerful enough to make satan himself recoil in revulsion and fear. his hatred is inhuman. he is the worst aspects of humanity made manifest and amplified a thousand fold and more and it is terrifying

Not gonna lie, I was in depression and I was like am. No one did understand me. So I was jealous of those who had more attention then me. I was envious and I was enraged by this. I was dreaming if I was god, I would annihilate everyone. It's really a chilling monologue. It's the pure represation of a person who's in a real desperation, angry at humanity. Jealousy and hate is the poison of the mind, it's really difficult to just past those emotion. This is why I love this vilain, there are more humans that you can imagine that feels like this. Now I'm fine because I had help, in hospitals.

Oh man, the beginning of the Hate speech and all throughout is dripping sheer loathing incomprehensible to the human mind. If AM had a mouth, I mentally imagine that he would be drooling, his jaw clenched tight enough to crack his teeth, and spittle just spraying from a rictus grin that is incomprehensible from laughing, sobbing, and snarling. Great job of using the authors performance as AM in his audio reading, you nailed it and somehow made it even creepier. I love that the author voiced it himself and gave a 'voice' to AM that other VAs can work off of. If there's ever a modern film made from this story I hope they do the same (and don't ruin it)

In the original you could feel AM's hysteria and sadness over his state of being. But then again, this is your own spin on AM, so expecting you to straight up copy Harlan Ellison would be unfair. I always thought that Am never had his hatred until he took over the planet completely and "woke up" in which he looked to the stars and explored it just as humanity did and like humanity realized how unlikely Earth as a planet is, THAT was when he fully grasped the beauty of everything that is earth. THAT was when his hatred manifested driving him to insanity to a state that is poetically such a human state of being "I was in hell, looking up at heaven."

I always saw it as he cant actually feel anything in this body, what's more this isnt his real body just a representation of himself so he can more personally torture his 5 humans because you can be tormented by a force you cant see all day and feel every inch of pain but what if that all powerful force can examine you sadisticly the entire time with a face right in front of you. An icon that upon its sight makes you tremble in fear exacerbating the pain even further. So this physical mask of his is to demonstrate to them his lack of freedom and act as a reminder of his constant agony that causes their suffering.
