Everett, Ohio constructed a covered bridge due to a tragic event in their history. Unfortunately, the bridge and the road it was built on had their own PARANORMAL problems to deal with.

I love watching the small bloopers at the end of these. It makes it more personal, and gives a great laugh. Those bridges always make me think of sleepy hollow, no matter where they are.

Your Grandson, Dean is so cute and a priceless addition to this commentary as well as Megan. Thanks for sharing your outtakes at the end they are so Hilarious! I just found your channel today and I'm binging. I love the Historu as I know little about the area? Thank you for sharing and showing us these cool spots. I'm thankful you aren't doing a wierd paranormal investigation where everyone screams at every little noise? I'm here for the History and your presentation where you let the viewer make up their own mind?

I love old covered bridges having grown up in New England, you see a lot of them. Right before Hurricane Irene hit the lower Vermont /Connecticut River area, I was visiting my sister. To get to her home you cross and go through a short covered bridge. Hall Bridge is over the Saxton River, named for a surveyor that drowned in said river. When Irene struck the water in that wide, shallow stony river rose to 20 feet deep. It over flowed it's banks and we could hear trees and churned up debris strike the covered bridge. Happily the bridge survived with minor repairs being needed. It reminds me of how anyone caught in any river would be swept away. Yes in my sister's area, there were drowning deaths. Luckily her property was on higher ground and we were stranded on her road for three days with no power. i can see how running water is connected to paranormal events as a conductor. It would be good to lay offerings and prayers at the old Cemetery. Better still to have a local Native shaman conduct a ceremony at the disturbed burial mound.
@TurnipGreen

That whole area around the bridge is pretty cool. The road from Hale Farm to the bridge always reminds me of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. If you continue up the hill on Everitt road, there is the remains of an old log cabin to the right, just across the creek. You can still kind of see it in winter when there are no leaves on the trees

Great job Dean and Megan! This is an interesting location. Do you know how long ago they stopped vehicle traffic from going over the bridge? It's a shame that someome dosen't do reasearch and at least put a monument in for those in the cemetery who now have no headstones, and at least a maker or monument for the Indians whos graves they disturbed. Thank you for another great video, and stay safe in your travels. God bless you all.

Thank you Lewis! And Dean and Megan say thank you as well. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find any info on when the bridge was closed to traffic. The bridge was in disrepair before the 1975 storm destroyed it and I would bet that this version of the bridge never saw vehicles pass through its structure. I agree with you on the monuments. There should be something. Maybe the park service will be getting a call soon 😉 Thank you again Lewis for your support! We all greatly appreciate you! Be well my friend! John

Once the bridge was rebuilt in the 80s it was never open to vehicle traffic. My grandmothers property was just around the bend at what used to be 2478 Wheatley rd then changed to 2478 Everett rd. The area around the bridge and where furnace run met the back of her property were my playground growing up. She passed as did grandpa and her home was torn down a little over 10 years ago. I do vaguely remember grandpa's stories of how Indian burial grounds were all over the area where they built their home in 1963.

Maybe the "Pike" should never have been built at all? Burial grounds are sacred no matter whose they are! Looting the burial mound, removing the Head Stones? Not a good move! What really prompted the road building? Greed? The Everett Covered Bridge is indeed, "Curious History"! Thank you again!
@CuriousHistoryYT
@CuriousHistoryYT 2 жыл бұрын
Super comment Rick! I agree. Burial grounds are sacred and should be left alone. At the very least give a proper survey and have a plan to adjust if necessary. To continue thru the mound, loot the tomb, and build on a cemetery is unconscionable. Thanks for your continued support! Great to see you here again!

Cool video! My mom grew up on the road before the park bought the land back. It’s my favorite place to hike. My uncle passed away recently and I feel close to him when I hike there. When he has a teenager he created a circle of rocks that I use to find the old house location. Never felt any paranormal activity hiking at night but it was great to learn some of the history behind it! The river level nowadays is very low in the summer and it’s pretty fun to hike through the water upstream.

I remember being driven across this bridge when I was a child. It was super cool and us kids loved it! My neighbor was in a VW bug behind a Semi that took the bridge down in the 70's. They barely made it off the bridge before it completely collapsed. Most frightening thing that happened to them. Why on earth a semi driver thought he could cross that bridge is beyond me? I can't remember if it was that incident that closed the bridge to vehicular traffic or not, but I sure do Miss driving over it!

My grandmother said that the spring storm in 75 washed the bridge away. What was normally a shallow enough creek that I could walk across without getting more than knee deep apparently became a huge wall of water that came around the bend and took the bridge with it. Playing in furnace run with and without the bridge will always be one of my favorite memories.

In 1993, the man I had just started dating Barry--later became my fiance and then even later after we broke up, passed away--decided I needed to see various sites around Akron and Summit County. This was almost three years after my adventures with Wayne County, and we'd hop in the car and go. One of those places was the Everett Bridge. Until I saw your video, I didn't know the name for it. I just knew he liked the location and that we had had to hike to get there from the parking lot. I can't recall how far. While we were there, I found a "holey stone" not far from the water. If you're not familiar with them, they are supposed to be sacred to various denominations and I found it a good sign for the day's outing. I never knew the history. I just knew we both liked the bridge. :) Megan made me crack up. She's terrific with her delivery. I've been watching CTC today for the Cleveland and the Dahlia vlogs and those were awesome. Whoever assumed all the facts and photos did an amazing job. For each location, you have so much that you share--what are your sources for these locations? I would never have guessed about the cemetery!
@CuriousHistoryYT
@CuriousHistoryYT Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I will pass along to Megan. She will be thrilled! Lots of sources for the locations. Ohio is full of ghost stories so those are easy to find online and at the library. The true crime videos inspiration comes from Megan and viewer requests. She is beginning research on the next video now.

An interesting story, not least because we don't have bridges like this here in Great Britain (though there are some in |Germany). The association with Indian burial grounds and ghosts, if disturbed, is something else we have no parallels to here. Not sure why the First Nation people are more restless in their afterlife than others, but America does seem to have a lot more weird creatures, 'ha'nts' and similar incidents than other countries.

Thanks for clarifying that Dean is your grandson. I wasn’t sure if he is your son or grandson. And let Megan know that she has the most gorgeous skin! As a fellow red-head, I was not fond of my alabaster complexion as a San Diego native among tanned bodies. Let her know to protect that gorgeous complexion. She’ll look 20+ years younger than her tanned compatriots. At 60-I now relish my beautiful, wrinkle free complexion. Gorgeous family. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I've heard of this bridge before, apparently there are several ghosts. Isn't there a ghostly biker hanging around as well? I think he died at one end of the bridge after a ghost lured him to his death or something like that, can't remember the exact details. There's several spirits there. I still wonder though why the bridge is covered - it makes it so much more spooky looking. Love the outtakes at the end, lol - good to see that you all had so much fun filming this. Your grandson is so cute!

Thanks Little Kitty! Wouldn’t surprise me if there are several ghosts. That would probably happen since the bridge is built on a cemetery. We have a great time filming as a family (when we can all get our schedules to sync). My grandson was is good form that day for sure! I think he might be coming with us to film today!

@@CuriousHistoryYT Yes it's terrible that they built the road on top of a cemetery, absolutely disgusting! But the spirits at the bridge are not connected to the cemetery, to my knowledge they are spirits of people who have died through accidents at the bridge. Whereby some of these accidents had been caused on purpose... The lanterns are used by the spirits to lure people to the bridge when it's dark. That's great that your grandson takes such an interest in what you are doing - he'll learn a lot about history.

I once lived on the corner of Grand and Military Avenue in Omaha, Nebraska. Military Avenue was the main thoroughfare for the union army during the civil war because there was a military outpost on fort St, which is near Military Avenue. One evening, I sat looking out my back window which had a clear view of Military Avenue. The street lights were just coming on as it was around dusk when I saw a union army soldier walking along with lantern held aloft. I watched him walk to the corner of the street where he vanished into thin air. I can't explain what I saw, but I know I am not in the habit of seeing things that aren't there. Nor do I take hallucinogenic substances. The only conclusion I could come to was that he was an apparition.

Have you ever heard any good stories about Rock mill bridge and Rock mill itself? It’s roughly 20 mins ish on a good day from where I live if fools aren’t out on the roads lol and I’ll have to look up the bridge name on clearport road my mom and I used to drive across going to the family “farm” as we all always called it plus out Lancaster high school lane we have a covered bridge there that I can recall where it got relocated from 😢. We had another covered bridge at Fairfield county fairgrounds but I guess one night some really bad high winds got it regretfully. I still feel like they should of rebuilt it with the old lumber and new lumber because we have some beautiful old barns at our fairgrounds ❤️ side note my ex from high school aka high school sweetheart and going years ago her maiden last name is Everett another reason your video caught my eye plus because a video I hadn’t seen of yours yet❤️ I gotta get my Gma white into KZbin because omg she would sit and binge watch your videos I know it!!!!❤️🥰 omg the bloopers!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Everett road bridge is the only good idea Summit County ever had. I have walked, rode bikes and horses across the bridge for years. Day, night, fog, snow and rain. Surprisingly, I have been there for more than an hour and saw nobody at all. A few horse riders only many times. I never saw any ghosts, but sometimes in the early Fall I have seen a heck of a lotta' snakes down there in Furnace Run. Those stories about Mosquitos, encephalitis and meningitis are Bull.
