Flora being the bride's middle name and the conversation Jamie has about how you won't be able to find a "Bly Manor" in England is basically just their way of telling the audience that Jamie changed some of the names and details in the story that she was telling to the party.

I don’t remember where I saw this but I believe in an interview flannigan said that when Dani found out the kids didn’t remember she felt anger and envy that they got happy lives at her expense, which speaks to how Viola was creeping up on her. Because Dani would only feel love and relief for them
@falsenostalgia-shannon4 жыл бұрын
Oooh, that’s cool. I noticed that she didn’t look happy about it, and wondered, because Dani would definitely be glad.
@raynushine37964 жыл бұрын
I picked up that as Flora forgot, Viola got stronger. Danny realized in that scene that that was the reason why Viola was coming back. I actually thought the reason why she was telling the story was to help Flora remember slowly in hopes Danny could come back. But maybe not.

It lacked the teeth of Hill House, but was good in its own right. Intelligent, heartfelt and brilliantly made.

Coming on the heels of Hill House & audience expectations, it suffers a bit. IMO MF's Netflix shows have been a rollercoaster in that I loved Hill House- felt ok about Bly- loved Midnight Mass, and was really let down by Midnight Club (one that had the least of MF's involvement). So... House of Usher should be a banger, fingers 🤞.

Jamie changed details of the story as to not make Flora & Miles remember. Hill House was a family horror about grief. Bly was a Gothic Romance about love in brief terms. You guys should do more horror stuff.

Its a representation of degenerative disease, knowing someone’s on their way out and still embracing the love as they fade away. One day at a time. Its more than some of us ever gets. Hill house gives you scares. Bly Manor gives you an existential crisis.

@@Zombiebadger67 ok if there is a record of failed exorcisms. though they might have to research that before dani's death to not to try one before. anyway there is another thing. jamies's obsession with ghost dani after death, sort of negates the point the story, if there is a point .

This episode is a story about something bigger: how people live on after they die. Viola became a monster. Hannah was a saint in Owen's eyes and Dani was a loved one and savior in the memories of Jamie - and now, thanks to the story Jamie tells, she will live on in Flora's memories. Hopefully she won't fade for a while longer.

Clay hit on the solution for getting rid of ghosts: tell them to get a hobby! 😄 I liked Bly Manor but I thought Hill House was better. Amandathejedi does a really good review of this series where she rightly points out that where Hill House was a horror and suspense story, Bly fits more into the tragic Gothic Romance genre which people weren’t expecting. So as a result Bly is kinda unfairly judged by Hill House genre standards. Which is a shame because I think the story is just as solid.

Pedro Alonso Nino, a Spanish explorer was the navigator. 😊 I believe the Priest tried to exercise Viola, and she killed him. And in the basement, it was the little boy. Also, it’s like Flora said, a love story with ghost. And showing two women in love and selfless, a man not knowing what love is, because of the abuse he endured; then choosing selfishness, plus the immoral way. What happens if your not honest with yourself about who you love. Hannah.

There are a bunch of gothics they could use to continue the series - The Woman in Black (most recently adapted in a movie with Daniel Radcliffe) would be good, but also almost any book by Victoria Holt or Phyllis A Whitney among others who were huge in the 60s and 70s. Eve Silver is a modern author who does gothics in the same style, but I assume they'd want to stick with more known classics.
