TW rape and child abuse: SPOILER WARNING: . . . . . . . One of the storylines I was upset they brought up and didn't follow through with was with the confrontation with Peter and his mother. I thought that the writing and acting when he confronted her about letting his father assumedly sexually abuse him was one of the most touching and well done scenes, but it was brought up so briefly that it felt like it was thrown in last minute. It kind of felt like it was reinforcing the stigma that those who are abused will become abusers. It's a trope that's been disproven in reality (statistically low) and causes stigma for those who are abused. I think it was supposed to make him a bit sympathetic, but he never really talked about it, or how he could manipulate Miles and take over his body in that way if that was done to him. There are a lot of similarities between possession and rape (ie: the feeling that your body isn't yours anymore) that I think they were very vague about and they could have used his backstory to explain that and make it hard for him to manipulate Miles but they just made the abused kid evil like we've seen on too many crime shows etc.
