This is a beautifully crafted show. The acting, cinematography, dialogue etc is all A grade thanks to Flanagan & the excellent cast. To me this is the Shawshank of Horror.

I AM SO EXCITED!!! I'm really not good with horror or spooky stuff, but I ADORE Hill House, Bly Manor and Midnight Mass. Hence, Mike Flanagan is my only exception haha I'm really looking forward to more of your reactions for this series.

The younger father is played by Henry Thomas who played Elliot in ET. In the treehouse Luke has an ET lunchbox to hold his crayons. When Nell is dancing in Hill House she passes by a mirror which was a prop from the film Oculus, also by Mike Flanagan. The original book was written by Shirley Jackson.. The character Shirley is named after her. Steve is named after Stephen King who said he was inspired to write horror after ready her books. The other kids and other characters are names from the original book. The Dudleys are direct characters taken from the original book.

Theo was the one Steve saw on his way to Nell & Luke's room. Shirley was the one talking about dancing in the red room and Panda's not eating macaroni in her sleep. It was Shirley with Nell when they tried the key. Theo was in the car with Steve, Shirley, Luke, Nell, and father Hugh when the escaped the house, leaving mother, Olivia behind.

Totally 2 different shows but this will have you feeling for this family just as much as squid game had you feeling for Gi-Hun and all the connections he made in the game. Great show! I didn’t know this was something I needed from you haha

I love a good Gothic tale and this has all the right ingredients. I really enjoyed watching along with you for this first episode and I can't wait for the next one! Oh, and the dad wasn't on trial. He was going to family court where they were going to decide if he could keep his kids.

So, this is one of my favorite shows of all time, and believe me, you are in for a ride. The cinematography, acting, storytelling...It's just a masterpiece in my eyes. This is a family drama mixed with horror in the most beautiful way possible. By the way, I am sick of people judging Steve for every single thing he does. Because he's a little rough on his siblings - i don't blame him because there are 25+ years that we didn't see - they always side with the little ones and it's just pissing me off. So, I don't know what you think about the characters yet but I hope you try to understand where he's coming from :) I am curious about what you think about the characters :)

Well, I do understand where he’s coming from, it’s pretty easy to see things through his and Shirley’s eyes. Getting fucked over by their brother countless times, anybody would feel like them. But I can also hate their guts at the same time. Plenty of time their mouths needed a good slap throughout the show okay.

This is my least favorite of the 3 Mike Flanagan Netflix shows and it’s still one of my favorite shows ever. You’re going to love this show and the other 3 if you watch them.
