On the drive to check in for your Havasupai Falls permit and hike, you might be surprised to find yourself driving through flat ranchland in Northern Arizona and on Hualapai Tribal land. This is historic Route 66.
For info on how to get permits, see:

Near Peach Springs, Arizona, you’ll come to the Grand Canyon Caverns Inn, a hotel and diner.
You’ll find plenty of signs leading you to the Havasupai check-in area, which is usually open until 5pm.
After filling out forms about the vehicle you’ll be taking, you’ll present your reservation number and get a pack of things to take to Havasupai Falls.
Check the boards in the office for information on the helicopter, and the hours the Supai Cafe and market will be open.
At the end of the check-in process, you’ll have a parking pass, an orange tag for your backpack and tent, and an entrance permit to show at the checkpoint as you drive in. They also give you a map of the campground.
Plus, they'll give you color-coded wristbands to wear during your time at Havasupai Falls.
It’ll be a one-hour drive from the check-in site to the Hualapai Hilltop parking area to begin your hike.
