Can attest to “Laceration Town”. Was cleaning with the back plate off and watching the mechanism. Deployed right into my finger. Pointy and sharp! It’s such an amazing knife. The Hawks are fantastic to boot.

Another great thing about the Deadlock OTF is that it can't be believably cloned or counterfeited since no one else has figured out how to make an otf without, at least a little blade play!

I love the Hawks and have a few knives with their evil-genius touches. I even have an eye out for one of these Model C's, but as an owner of more than 4 OTF knives, I want to know what current Deadlock owners use theirs for? My fancier ones like SE Infidels and Microtechs they are restricted to letter opening because sharpening these on KMEs are brutal. My lesser models like the MTech or NATO I got back in the early 1990's, are beaters or sentimental keepsakes. I understand safe-queens, I even treat my Infidels as SQs, but what is considered work or hard work for a $1100+ dagger point, thick behind the edge and so much the "Pretty Boy" OTF? Nick got me hooked on Olamics and I regularly carry and use my Swish and Rainmaker, so I am not afraid to use expensive knives because they are knives I enjoy for their beauty, ability to cut things and the pride of knowing in any room, I have the coolest knife! (All of which are true for the Model C I know, but that "USE" question is still vague for me.) Love ya Nick! You have helped me get through COVID and rough times! Thanks for that, and the advice of not getting into watches........BUT have you ever looked at smart watches? I have a Samsung and would love to upgrade to a "Special or Custom" smart watch compatible with Android.

My model C is in my rotation These knives are made to be used I know not everyone is going to use a knife at that price point Hawks offer a spa treatment and if anything goes wrong they take care of their customers!! 👊🏼 EDIT: these have a hollow grind. They're really not that thick behind the edge and they're super slicey.

As a general rule of thumb, I would never purchase/carry an otf. I don’t like all the moving parts and if any of the mechanics fail, it’s a huge pain. I would be very interested in the deadlock but for $1k+, I can’t afford that. So yeah, I own zero otf’s.

I am from Idaho and have been to the Idaho Knife Association Show several times. I got to handle a Deadlock and… Ohhh. I get it. Grant and Gavin Hawk are nice, cool people. This review hits everything on the nose about this knife.

I have one, dark matter fat carbon with satin blade and hardware. I have a ti on the way. I am an otf junkie of sorts. I have almost every model from most every brand. The Hawk Deadlock is, by a huge margin, the best available. The only person who even gets close as far as I know is Scott Topper. For most people I recommend a Dirac from microtech, a Dirac Delta if you insist on full sized. I also recommend the Axial Shift. For a bargain basement otf Lightning Elites are 35 ish bucks. Guardian Tactical is a good choice as well, my fav is the 035. Special mention, the shootout from Benchmade is VERY light and full sized:)

Hawks are switching to all Ti models in the Future So the 7075's will be a thing of the past With that said l love my 7075 Deadlock 💯 reliable and absolutely no blade play Glad you got to check one out! With that hollow grind it is definitely the one I carry for boxes and envelopes and it slices them up 👊🏼

That is a sweet knife but tight tolerances in the blade would equal misfires. Without a lot of routine maintenance, pocket lent and dirt are always an issue. They actually recommend on their website not to use any oil if I'm not mistaken. So few guys would buy this as a daily carry that the problem would never come up though. It would definitely be a safe queen if I ever were to spend that kind of coin!

Nothing personal, but you're wrong. I carry and use mine daily. It doesn't collect pocket crud, lock up doesn't get compromised by small amounts of crud. I've had mine a couple years.

Since mastery of ones craft is what you value, check out the Shrike by Scott Topper. He makes custom otf knives with zero blade play and beautiful action with fit and finish that blows away the Hawks and Marfione. I’m surprised no KZbinrs ever cover his work.

That's the problem with a knife like this. It's internal construction is so precise and complex that a production company literally can't make it at a lower price and make a profit. It's internal design is also genius. For the complexity of it, it can be user disassembled,. It even comes with a wrench

yeah maybe, but i guess not. my most expensive knife is a heavily customized olamic busker, but tbh: when i compare it to knives that aren't even half the price i see not much of a difference. infact i have kizer knives that cost 1/15 of the price and have a better action. for $1800 you need to be impressive like crazy to well..impress me and make me feel that i've spent my money wisely. i doubt that a lack of blade wiggle, a nice grind & action and a ti-handle will do that.
