@@Rcschim yeah i only planned to do 6 miles to the castle, which isnt too bad, couple of hours, but after the castle it was all beach walking which is a bit tougher, but i still didnt get too tired till about 10 miles, then i sat down out of the wind and had some coffee and choclate and a long rest, it was a long day but i didnt feel bad the next day, not like glencoe, that destroyed me a bit hehehe, i went 3 times and the last time was the toughest and it took 10 days for my knees to stop complaining hehehe. the trick is, go slow, i mean super duper slow, look for small steps and avoid the big ones no matter how silly it looks or feels, use a walking pole, i mean really use it deliberately to pull yourself up, and try to rest before you get muscle tired, lots of little rests and a few big ones, you can make it up almost anything.

@@Rcschim hehe, i prefer the camp for a few days at a spot, i'm looking at a mountain called suilven in the far north of scotland, people camp on top of it but i dont think i could carry all my gear up there, but it would be so cool to fly both sides of the mountain at sunrise.

@TheMadmacs
@TheMadmacs Жыл бұрын
thanks, yeah i'd need to get clearance to fly over ayr, and even then it would probably be straight up and down. even at the heads of ayr i'm super cautious and only go up a couple of hundred feet at most with the airport only 7 or 8 miles away, any small planes who have a problem would try to get back along the coast, its legal after 5 miles, but its always sensible to know and understand the landscape around you when you fly, i actually got lost last night in old vids about ayr, its a truly ancient place and some of the footage from the last 100 years was fascinating to see.

Brilliant video never walked around the Heads of Ayr and the castle on the cliff was a bit of icing on the cake really enjoyed watching it ,but would be hard going walking any distance on the sand👍🌞⛅
@TheMadmacs
@TheMadmacs Жыл бұрын
hey thanks bill, when i reached the castle i suddenly realised that i could be cut off by the tide where i was sitting, a high sandbank, but around the heads its more obvious, i only did about 4 or 5 miles on the sand and a lot of that was damp compacted sand but it was still a big relief to get onto the path again. 13.5 miles, even though it was flat it was a long day, got really lucky with the weather,

need to add notes on the tide, that particular bit the tide can blcok you going north very quickly, to the south too but youhave more time to get to a beach which has a road leading to the top, and dont be fooled these cliffs are not climable even the less steep bits.

@@TheMadmacs are you able to program the flight? that would help smooth out some of the transitions. When you find the cash to upgrade buy a i5 Mac, and FCP has a pretty good auto stabilise. But yes your work is looking like it is almost animated
@TheMadmacs
@TheMadmacs Жыл бұрын
@@julesdingle hehe no i can't prgram it, its all live and completely manual, the software most fpv quad pilots use is betaflight, it has some basic ability with gps but i dont have a module fitted for gps. there is a system for dji, two ground stations i think that can fly either a programmed or a manual flight and repeat it over and over with programmable variations etc, for movies. i use free software called gyroflow or reelsteadygo which is now owned by gopro. both very good, but i tend to use it on low settings. i do a lot of twitching hehehe but i do try to fly as smooth as possible, these quads are made to be very fast and are a handful to fly slowly like this, there are quads made especially for flying smooth and slowish called cinewhoops, they are also safe to fly around people. the other issue i have right now is i can't afford to replace anything, so i'm flying a bit scared, which doesnt help with the smoothness hehehe.
@TheMadmacs
@TheMadmacs Жыл бұрын
@@julesdingle heres some raw footage and more extreme flying in a practise session, i could program the quad to be less reactive and smoother responding to the stick inputs but i kinda prefer the twitchy feel, feels more connected, and sometimes i do fly silky smooth, but not often. wind, and mistakes, or nerves catch me out. ... there is also a video, i think its my 2022 year round up vid that i show some raw footage of me flying out to an island beside the forth rail bridge, then compare that to the vid i posted, had to stabilize and use horizon lock to get any footage from that day hehehe. anyway this is raw, kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4qqioKPnN-lsLs
