I just finished the series on Prime. Needed a ‘fix’. This movie was a disappointment. I could tell the actors have moved on. Their lines seemed forced and voices sound different. I like the characters based in Colorado Springs better than stuffy Boston.

Obviously, one of the best family shows to have come our way and none since the End of Dr. Quinn. What a shame it had to end. That show ran throughout the 1990's and I cant think of any family show since. What a shame but I guess everything finds an end. Congratulations Beth Sullivan for her hard but rewarding work. It Blessed a lot of homes! Plus, I personally miss the ongoing love between Michala and Sully.

Well, there is Outlander which is similar. It’s just more steamy with the romance, and different part of the country and different time period. Also comes with a fantasy element of time travel. But it’s not that too different compared to Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.

In a sense that’s true, it’s a quality family show on one level. However, after watching it again 25 years later I now realize how political it really was. More subtle than today but clearly it pushed an agenda. I can only imagine what the same writers would do with a reboot.

"Little House on the prairie" and "Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman" are my favourite all times TV shows and I found many similarities between its characters, in my opinion: Laura Ingalls Wilder vs Doctor Michaela Quinn, Pa Charles Ingalls vs Byron Sully, Harriet/Nellie/Nancy Oleson vs Loren Bray/Jake Slicker/banker Preston A.Lodge III, Nels Oleson vs Dorothy Jennings, Carrie Ingalls vs Bryan Cooper, Albert Ingalls vs Bryan/Matthew Cooper, Mary Ingalls vs Ingrid/Colleen Cooper, Ma Caroline Ingalls vs Cloud Dancing, Reverend Alden vs Rev. Timothy Johnson ! But the main character Laura Ingalls Wilder cannot work separately, without Pa Charles or later her husband, Almanzo Wilder as Dr. Mike Quinn cannot go without Sully !

This episode was very well done. I was telling my wife the Federalist Architecture of the main residence was breath taking. 16' high ceilings and furniture way to familiar with me. My home is from 1883 and furnished with Victorian era furniture. A good wholesome show where you can sit back and enjoy without pretense. This episode was political having just come out of a civil war and the early beginnings of the BLM of which Teddy Roosevelt used to build the National Park system. Our country has such a beautiful heritage that way outshines its shortfalls. We must embrace beauty and glory of which we all can enjoy.

Even though this movie wasn't completely like the series, I still liked it. It had most of the same characters, the same feel, the same music, the same spirit in dr Quinn and her daughter Colleen. It was funny to see Dr Quinn's mother act more like her and her wanting Colleen to stand up for herself and dr Quinn seemed to be afraid of challenging the status quo, now that she had 4 children. Andrew's dad was forgetting that his son's mother in law taught her daughter to be the best. Those men were pathetic to be afraid of her beating them. Andrew was unusual in seeing his wife as his equal. It was funny to see the rally about women's rights but as a black woman I know that didn't equal my race. I'm not American but I do stand up for them as we have the same history but we were also discriminated against. I liked the different stories, Colleen being the only woman doctor and Sully protecting his family. Men talk about women being too emotional to lead, have bank accounts, divorce, be in charge of their own children if they divorce but it was men who were threatened by a female doctor. Their egos overshadow any smarts they usually have
@Skye_Writer4 жыл бұрын
Micheala's voice sounds so wrong in this...higher than usual. I can't figure out if the playback is a little bit sped up, or she's been dubbed. Everybody's voice is slightly higher than normal, so maybe it is the playback. Since it's a 2 hour movie and the playback time is 1:23:00, that seems like the most likely answer since it SHOULD be running for over an hour and a half without commercials.
