Bravo! Great info, great delivery- Not a bunch of “ums” and “ahs” with awkward pauses

Another fun and interesting video. Thank you! As always, they are well-researched, well presented, educational and interesting. I bought a modern rig finally - so this winter I'll do a complete restoration of my SB-101 with removal of all PCBs. 73...

I remember my HG-10B and what a drifty, mechanically finicky, thing that was.

For some strange Reasons I really like watching Videos about those old external Heathkit VFOs.. But I do not know why. However this Video really is perfect for me.. :D

Had one of these that i used in the late 1960's. I drifted and chirped up and down the band with a lot of other hams. Better have it powered up a long time before you wanted to begin transmitting

Licensed at 13 in 1974 I bought a used HW-16 and a VF1 VFO. It chirped and drifted like crazy but it was better than being constrained by crystals LOL I thought my setup had a problem but it sounds like it wasn't just me. :-)

Thanks for making and sharing this video. I just picked up a very clean VF-1. The chassis is not copper plated, so I'm assuming this is a later model. The VFO cable has an RCA jack. I'm busy undoing some mods such as a pair of 10K 15W resistors in series on the 300v line. I'm hoping it works, as I plan to pair it with my Drake 2-NT for straight key night.

they dont make this any more , but i do see how this as a signal source wouldnt be ideal , i would always go for transistors , maybe not even FETs , but BJT, far as i know BJTs are the cleanest when done discrete and proper . FETs are clean but not linear due to Capacitance Gate Drain , or what not . Not sure tho

Great video. Any videos on the DX40?

Nice job. Would be nice to mount the code keyer on a nicer piece of wood.
