Good god, this boss lived up to its name… As for what I used for this boss, my team setup for it was: Rudiment equipped with the Banshee’s trophy set, Duchess (vanilla) equipped with riposte CC set (25% armor pierce + heals when crit), crystalline herald with CC set (permanent riposte), and Lamia with Ancestor’s Scroll and Wilbur’s flag (removes horror with her heal and, when you can, increased crit chance with lowered dodge with her debuff skill). Effective but out of the question for those that don’t grind much. All of them had quirks that buffed their stun and move resist… This barely allowed my team to not get afflicted throughout the fight.

personal recommendations for this fight (only including one mod here) maa with bolster + drugs (dodge + stress reduction to lessen the horror, can operate in most positions in case of movement) grave robber (solid dodge + massive damage with fade + lunge spam as well as armour piercing) commandant with bunker buster (slowdowns + AoE + constant opposition to HPA’s prot bonuses with mild damage on top, able to do something in most positions and even clear stuns if needed) a decent healer (occultist is probably best with his naturally decent dodge and he’s usually less devastated by movement with his curses, heals and even hands usually backing up the commandant and MAA) the drugs are unfair but so is the boss so it’s even

imma be sqaure: This boss's Design and premise as a Doom Wall boss is amazing and the team did fantastic on it. but they clearly forgot what game this is and didn't look at the negatives with a stern glance. I get they wanted to make a boss that was a monstrocity to take on, a real challenge for sure, but what came out was just a head butting contest with a plywood wall now, granted i played this mod before it has some patches done to it to make the fight easier so take it with a grain of salt. the bosses abilities are all in the description so i wont run over what all he does, but ill poke at them a bit. you know that automove at the start? it also cures any blight or bleed (at least it did when i played it). so using any DOT team is fruitless as its resistance changes will Neuter that quickly and his PROT spike makes cannon classes struggle. you could bring a BH to mark and reduce his prot or even HM since Abom is a Beast type, but thats only for 1 round and i doubt they can fight the healing the Abom gets EVERY action he does. doesnt the Massive dumpster health pool not cover the fact its a beefy enemy? no lets have him eat his spawns to gain health and a constant regen. his Plague Flail attack has a high crit chance (or higher against blighted anyways) and he has a Stun skill to apply EVEN MORE pressure on your team. as stated he also has a group wide horror of 8 fucking points of stress per turn and he uses that move EVERY turn so it stacks to a max of 24 stress PER TURN. even if you has it HALFED from stress reduction its still a boat load. and prior to the patch IT WAS UNCURABLE. so yea, im glad you can cure it with Laudenum finally instead of being forced to bring a meek jester (and watching him fail). but given how long the fight is, you'll run out of laud mid way and get stress whooped anyways. so, Staggeringly high HP, Massive Stress, Stun attacks, 3 moves, can overcome DOTs, can heal from spawned allies and has some high crit chances. that alone is enough to be what one would call a Raid boss, but in DD Raid bosses dont work because your party cant realistically (without broken mods) overcome the odds being pushed against them and you can only make them so strong. every other boss was strong but had a weakness: the Swine had massive HP and did Strong damage, but only when someone was marked or when someone killed Wilbur to try and cheese the fight. Countess was hard if you had a position focused party, but if you had a team with good dodge she couldnt throw you around. the point is every boss had their weaknesses, the HPA doesnt because the team figured having a long drawn out slug fest was fun in a game like this. and yes i know, the surprise twist of him healing half his HP after he drops to 0 was complete bullshit. it did nothing but draw out the fight even longer than it already should have been, if the rat spawns came out instead of its 2nd phase of "do you want to feel what Sisyphus feels pushing the boulder?" the fight wouldnt be too terribly bad, or fucking hell, maybe reduce it to 10%? idk, just gut some of that fuckers health already, 460 with constant healing is not a boss fight, its kicking mud out of Pothole. im glad you actually managed to beat it on your first try, and even though you used modded items and characters i 100% dont blame you cause 1. its fun to have more options, and 2. there was no fucking way you could beat the HPA without them. the game strong arms you into a terrible situation in a game where RNG is already not your friend. the Devs of the mod have great ambition and i dont want to shit on them for it but good god man, a boss is suppose to have unique gimick, not be a mountain heap of everything in the boss bin (and yes im aware its literally a heap of body parts but that doesnt mean it needs to be programmed in a way where its not fun to fight against)

i forgot to mention also his Stumble ability. like they seriously just wanted to put every mechanic in a boss fight for the shit of it JUST to ruin any position focused group you had

Just when I thought he couldn't get worse, he just cures the bleed and blight. I am not really an expert on this games balance (especially when it comes to modded content) so I can't really suggest how to balance him, but like you said he is like a raid boss; this fight felt like fighting a long dungeon with no breaks at all. It did stress me out fighting him for so long with a suboptimal team, emulating what it was like playing the game for the first time, the longer you are in the dungeon the shorter the provisions. I can see the appeal to this fight, being constantly in the backfoot, knowing that the longer this fight takes the lesser chance of beating it. But if you ask me, I will not want to fight him again. Maybe, to see how fast I can burst him down, but after watching Cerebral Cloud's clear, even with a Leper and Exterminator, it took him around 16 minutes to beat. And that is without any speed up mods. But yeah, never again.

@@eisen22789 i dont blame you, the Devs could solve everything with removing his 2nd life move and cutting his health to 250 at most, the healing he does alone will make him feel like the 465 hp boss he is. plus since im sure you fought the Plague Priest, he was EVEN WORSE in the pre patch. his 2nd phase got revamped entirly thank god, but he would infect every hero in your party with a disease that NUKED your damage by 95%, meaning everything you did was 1 point. at that point his only attack was just decreasing your disease and blight resistance as he did no damage with it but the last time i fought him pre-patch, it took me to 67 rounds. sixty fucking 7 rounds, because he had 150 or so HP and i could only do 1 per hero.

​@@BoozeGoon Too horrible to die is the HPA's signature ability, they can't remove it. But yeah, they should reduce the heal, even in tabletop it is 8%-50% (for an average of 29%) while in total war it is 20% (bringing it to a total of 30%). So a heal around 20-30% would be more preferable than 50%. Appart from that, the boss focuses on stress, while the other bosses throw out stress as a bonus, this is the HPA's main weapon. It doesn't hit hard, instead it prolongs the combat with stuns and stumbles while being a massive dmg sponge. It doesn't have nukes or cleaves and only the adds have dots, the only death's doors were from hearth attacks. It has no weaknesses, but it only has 1 strength, so stress dmg reduction, stress heals and horror cures would shield you from the worst of it. Still, a long drawn out battle is not very fun in DD, but the fight was close only because it lasted enough for the stress to become a major problem. Although, he did get 2 virtues while the wizard took like 400 stress total and I don't think he would have won with a worse rng, so maybe they should just shorten the fight. Or, at the very least, reduce the health while buffing the stress if they want the fight to be the same while shorter (and by extension less unfun).

@@adisca2k i suppose that makes sence in regards to his THTD ability, it still feels silly that DOT's are useless against him and the passive regen he gets overall (not to mention him healing from his adds as well) and while he may not have any nuke or party damaging abilities, i feel like his attacks have some pretty high crit chance (at least thats what i noticed when i last fought him) as far as that goes, and yea i also get how a boss using stress as a weapon is neat on its own, you said it best, the fight needs to be alot shorter for that kind of fight to work out. having his wizard pop a virtue is nice but this is DD, a game where RNG hates your guts so unless each hero has a Ancestors Idol or Hero Ring and such relying on a virtue is a heavy gamble. so yea, just tone the heal from THTD down, maybe ditch the passive Regen on all his moves, tone the crit chance and the fight will probably be pretty good

Nothing can beat the good ol' god comp + space cocaine. Without it this boss is very nasty when using vanilla heroes

I think you need some massive damage class to be dps like Bounty Hunter, Thrall or Leper. Other are healer and buffer like vestal and jester. Feeling like swine king with regen so I think any mark team with Vvulf's trinket or any attack plus with size 2 will do the trick.

It's not a bug. It's a repeatable quest, the same as the Deathmaster.
