"The Heller Approach" is an acting technique that gives actors a simple yet practical and solid foundation so that actors are ready and empowered with reliable and easily accessible tools to work in any medium. The technique and it's application is based on muscle memory and not on past personal experiences.
It truly frees the artist to access feelings and thoughts that are universal to all humans. An Amazing technique born from working actors and directors.
"The Heller Approach" is taught exclusively by Brad Heller. Group classes are available every Thursday night and Tuesday days in Los Angeles, California. Private lessons are also available via Skype or in person.
Professor Heller taught for 5 years at UCLA before going private. He is an actor, director and teacher. Heller's teachings are based on the works of Don Richardson, who Heller mentored.

Objective is a nice way of adding dimension in expressing why an emotion should be a burden to add conflict to a story for any driving character. If my story is to be normal and I'm in a casual day with no burdens either externally or internally, then I will play a normal life with no reason for the audience to be pushed or pulled. If I have a normal story, but today my coffee has spilled because my desk buddy was talking longer than usual then my emotion is anomalous to having a normal day therefore my objective is to remain normal so nothing changes over a long period of time by being an enemy. This takes the dimension to a further playing plane. That's the genius of The Heller Approach in that this minor tweak in experiencing normalcy is enough to convince a viewer that the person going through a story is worth watching no matter how normal or real the scene may seem.

Could you explain that with a real life scene or a scripted scene

So playing a conflict means the objective is in contrast to the emotion Is that what it means to play opposites

Hi @arfenmalik1717. When playing a conflict, choosing an objective and emotion that are in contrast can heighten the dramatic tension of the scene. For instance, pairing an emotion like PANIC with an objective such as 'to stay calm' creates an intriguing conflict for the character. This internal struggle adds depth to the performance and engages the audience as they witness the character grappling with conflicting desires. By embracing this technique, you can enhance the complexity of your portrayal and deliver a more compelling performance on stage. Hope this helps!

Hello, Brad! how are you? I have a question : I'm kind of confused about the objective and the emotion. For example : If the scene has many different objectives and also different emotions through it. How do I do that? Should I practice this objectives and emotions in each part of the scene while I'm studying it? Or should I establish just the first ones and let them go? I dont know if I made myself clear. Thank you.

But what about if you really have to convince someone to do something in a scene then you can't play the objective in contrast of emotion.
