Its laughable hearing the so called experts criticizing a ROOKIE QB in the NFL who has 3,271 passing yds, 19 TD's, 5 INT's, 62.2% Comp, 442 rushing yards, hasn't thrown a pick in like 306 attempts. (NFL Rookie record by like a 100) and is about 97 off of the all time NFL record of Aaron Rodgers. Caleb has broken every single Bears Rookie QB records. All this with a team that fired their HC, OC and is 4-11 in the toughest division in the NFL.

I can’t give him the excuse of a bad roster/ organization. Going into the season, the mainstream media was raving about how this is the best situation a rookie Qb has ever gone in to. No one complained about the roster until they started losing. Yes, he’s talented but it takes a lot more than that to be a good/great NFL quarterback. There have been plenty of talented qbs in the league that were trash.
@bigdogstatus8317 сағат бұрын
You’re not too smart. He’s had the most turmoil of any rookie QB in the last 30 years! 3 different offensive coaches in this first season?! Yes … 3!!! And two different head coaches! wtf are you smoking?! No QB can deal with that, let alone a rookie!

It does get to a point though where all of his games lately don’t matter. It’s hard to judge. They get blown out in the first half so then naturally the defense takes it easier and let’s up. When the game is in the balance they look like crap. It is a wait and see situation at this point.
@303offroadКүн бұрын
If you watch Calebs tape in college it was a similar issue. He has a tendency to hold onto the ball and try to make the incredible play rather then play within structure and hit the receiver in rhythm. He obviously has a great arm but he needs to fix his eyes, footwork and processing. These are tall orders for a QB to fix but we have seen it done. This draft is super talented though and when all the experts kept praising Caleb as this generational talent I didn't see it. I thought Jayden Daniels was a better prospect, Maye needed some work with his mechanics which he has made crazy progress on and nix/penix were the more pro ready QBs with how many starts they had. Penix obviously has one of the best arms and Bo was already making adjustments at the line and reading defenses and was sneaky athletic. Caleb has all the tools but theres a lack of maturity. All in all I think this draft has a chance to have 5 incredible QBs who all have different tool sets.
@travisosheaКүн бұрын
I’ve seen his college tape from every game in his last year at USC. His OL was beyond horrible at USC and could get after him with 3 down which then had him holding onto the ball longer. This was not a tendency. Riley has a lot of Air Raid and spread offence concepts to get rid of the ball quickly. It’s more of what was said in this video as to him being a more anticipatory thrower and in my opinion I think it’s more of a confidence thing with Caleb and not a talent issue or that he cannot do it. He’s done it this year and at USC, it’s just not consistent
@travisosheaКүн бұрын
Also, can you elaborate more on Caleb’s footwork and Mayes mechanics?
@robertsnow4909Күн бұрын
I wanted penix but caleb with a good coach will be one helluva QB.
@303offroadКүн бұрын
@@travisoshea holding onto the ball is the antithesis to an anticipatory thrower. Essentially he doesn't trust his reads which works hand in hand with your evaluation of less confidence. As far as footwork he doesn't have smooth drops and sometimes it looks like he hasn't been coached up on how to make a 3 or 5 step drop he's just stepping without intention leading to bad rhythm/timing on the play. Caleb has the talent in his arm there is no doubt about that he makes ridiculous plays all over the place but he needs to fix the easy plays and inconsistent play. To be successful in the NFL you have to execute the easy stuff 90 percent of the time and then the other 10 percent is the crazy mahommes/Allen esque plays which Caleb definitely has. For Maye he had some odd footwork and a weird release coming out of college which led to inconsistent accuracy which he has made incredible strides on this season. Both guys have the talent to be great QBs I think it's just going to depend on whether Caleb has a good coach to help him fix these issues and whether he will be coachable.

This whole Caleb season has been funny to me. Before the season when pretty much everyone was syakfn that Caleb and the Bears were going to be unstoppable and a playoff team I said differently. Reasons were because of what system he ran in college with Lincoln Riley vs what he was going to do with Waldroun. No he did not hold the ball too long on college. There is plenty of tape to support this and he was for the most part the best player on the field and many times just had to make plays which he did. Now fast forward 5 months later and everyone is saying “you could see this in college” which you couldn’t and most people said he would be a bust because he painted his nails or crowd to his mom after a loss. No one was talking about him holding onto to the all in preseason and in training camp and even the first month of the season. I’ve now become the Caleb defender because soo many people have to be so far on the right side of a take.

That game winning Hail Mary from Jayden Daniels and the Commanders really hurt the bears lol. Just give Caleb some time to develop, but that won’t happen unless the bears bring in a good head coach like Mike Vrabel. Or go the other route and bring in an offensive mind like Ben Johnson. Or even better bring Ben as the head coach and offensive play caller and bring Vrabel in as your Defensive Coordinator. The bears need leadership and discipline on that coaching staff that will wake up that bears locker room! And Mike Vrabel is that guy. That’s my thought, bears have so much talent being wasted because of the lack of Coaching and discipline. But at the end of the day it all starts with the bears front office, and this is coming from a die hard Redskins fan. We finally sold the team, got an amazing GM, brought in a cultural changing and player first Head Coach DQ, and drafted a franchise QB. And now we our 10-5, in the first year of rebuild! The fact Caleb doesn't get fooled and throw to LBs on blitzes and instead throws it away or gets sacked is not a negative. Most sacks he does take are for a couple yards and no one is open. Does he miss deep, yeah. He has weaknesses but to disregard all the context and his actual tape vs. TV copy you have to just be a Caleb hater. Which is fine but don't pretend you are unbiased.
