What is the benefit to having the smaller type cows vs normal beef cattle . I live in Panola county (east Texas) and have a herd of 20 Hereford cows I was breeding with a Brahman bull and was getting F1 Tigerstripe calves . But I recently sold my Brahman bull and bought a 2 year old brangus bull because I’m to the point I’m needing to keep some calves to replace my Hereford cows because they are getting up there in age and I’m wanting to replace them with their offspring and the F1 tiger stripes was to wild so I decided to go brangus and get black baldies to use as replacement because they will be a lot more docile not being 1/2 Brahman

Smaller frame cows have many benefits in my opinion, not as hard on the ground, better bone to meat ratio, easier to handle, can have a larger herd per acre ratio.. Aberdeens as breed themselves are very docile and are easy calving. I suppose it comes down to preference, and i do not have much experience with larger frame cows.. but I am big fan of my aberdeen crosses. I really like the aberdeen hereford cross in particular.
