According to Hershey's website, there are 2 factories in Hershey, PA as well as 5 other factories across the US

Hershey’s chocolate is still made in the US, both in town and in other places around the country. There are international plants, but they largely produce for their own domestic markets.

Russell stovers does too. We had a local one called ceros candy that made the best chocolate i ever had but they kept moving like once a year snd eventually went out of business

Also also: it's free to enter and wander around the Hotel Hershey. It's one of the last Grand Hotels to be built. It's worth looking at the fountain lobby, restaurants, and grounds. The Hershey Gardens are also extensive and charming.

I remember back when the factory was still there in the early noties and you could just roll your windows down and smell the chocolate when you drove through Hershey. This we did often to visit my great grandma. Good memories. Sometimes you also could smell the peanut butter as you passed the Reese’s place.
@chaotictattoo2 жыл бұрын
You can still smell it

It was lovely to meet you in person Jacob! I was the front desk attendant at the Hershey Story Museum you spoke with briefly on your way out. There are still active Hershey and Reese's plants in the area, the Trolley Tour at Chocolate World should take you past both locations. There's a hidden taxidermy Pelican in the Hershey Story if you ever decide to visit our museum again!

I grew up near Hershey and remember going on the factory tours in the 60’s the chocolate aroma was incredible
@RubyofTrinity2 жыл бұрын
I fear I must gently correct you, my good sir. Chocolate IS still made in Hershey. You'll go past the new factory if you take Hershey Park Drive towards Hummelstown. You'll see another large landscape of barberry bushes spelling out "HERSHEY'S CHOCOLATE" as well as Kiss lampposts at the entrance. The old factory was closed down about ten years ago because it could not be updated to meet modern health and safety codes. Prior to that, the last public tour was held in the late 1980s. They were stopped due to health/safety concerns. Also it's "Ree-sez". ;}

Sorry to burst your bubble but is in fact pronounced Reese-IS! The candy is named after H.B. Reese. It is named in the possessive form of his last name :)

Theres more odd things with Tuckers than just the 'Cyclops' light, they use a Rear mounted flat 6 from a Helicopter and had all the controls mounted to the steering coloum (bar the pedals) to keep the dash area a free space so you could dive into it during a crash, sadly so few were made that it's rare to see one and can be in the Millions to buy.

If you are going through the DC area on the way home, you should really visit National Harbor (Oxen Hill). There is an MGM casino, a Gaylord resort, and a really neat waterfront area with a Skywheel.
