Dunlop Wah Wah pedals have an electrical trick installed in them which makes them dependent on the Dunlop rotovibe pedal to activate their true sound. They can't work by themselves. For example that jimi Hendrix pedal won't actually activate the true sound without without the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz, octavio and rotovibe pedals.

This is pretty interesting, do you have a video about it?

Another great vid with the simple things missed by manufacturers. Top work bro! Off to get some copper tape for my JD Cry Baby. Still got all its feet too:) What is the meter you use?

Hahaha I just bought some new feet for mine because they are probably in a stinky tour bus somewhere. lol. ... materials all linked in the description: - KAIWEETS Digital Multimeter - amzn.to/443ChTx - Adhesive Copper Foil Tape Double-Sided Conductive - amzn.to/3KBSvMW

Awesome, I’m going to do that to my noisy Wah pedal, thank you. Mine is a Vox battery powered pedal, is there any way of wiring it up for a mains 9v feed?

Awesome thanks for the comment. Yes you can, just solder in a power input and you’ll need to drill a hole to mount it. There is a tutorial I’ve seen on KZbin. Try a few searches. 🤘🏼👍

great!!!!!!!!! subscribe!!!!!!!! Hi, I have a second-hand wah pedal that I bought that was completely destroyed. I had to open the pot and clean it and it was also making noise. But the problem came when I took it apart completely to clean it inside because it was very dirty. I removed the ground screw that screws the PCB to the pedal and since then I don't have to use the radio at home, since the wah pedal already comes with a radio included. I'm going to try with the shielding to see what happens. Thanks a lot for the video.

@@abril8596 Thanks for the sub. Hope shielding works for you. ✌️

What is the pedal case made of? Is it plastic with metal coating? Or solid metal with paint?
@RisingSunGuitarMods Жыл бұрын
Hey John, they are a type of alloy cast, they do have some conductivity but very poor. You would think it would be enough, but seriously this works so I do it. The newer pedals don't seam to be as noisy though.

@@RisingSunGuitarMods Would be interesting to see if the reflowed solder joints were enough without the copper tape shielding. Still, the operation was a success and the patient lived :-).

@@JohnShalamskas Yeup good point. I have tried it previously and it does help but the shielding reduces the noise even more. 🤘🏼👍

I was wondering the same because my thinking was "its inside a metal enclosure already, why shield it?" I learned today, and not from my own mistake, so I call that a win!

Interesting. Just found this video trying to troubleshoot a noisy 70s Thomas Wah. I thought about shielding, then dismissed it as the enclosure is metal. Maybe I’ll give it a shot
