What if the capsular contraction is unilateral and unfortunately did already pull up a bit higher is it possible to do it one sided ? Is a mesh possible to use with every patient ?

9 years ago I had 255 cc Anatomical shaped UBM textured implants placed I had a hematoma one week post op unilateral It got operated again the hematoma was removed and cleaned and a new implant was placed The right side never felt as good as the left but I lived with it because I wasn’t ready for another surgery Now 9 years later that side sits very high and hurts sometimes No plastic surgeon wants to only change one side even though I don’t want to touch my left side The only pc who would do if is the one who messed up the first surgery What would the best approach be in your opinion ? I’m from Europe so I can’t come see you

My organic chemistry professor in college was Dr. David Dolphin and he started all of the Photo Dynamic therapy as he was an expert in porphyrins. But they are not approved for scar therapy.

Strattice, an acellular dermal matrix, has been shown to almost eliminate the recurrence of capsular contracture.

They have a very safe track record but I have never used any dermal matrix product in a patient with Ehler's Danlos Syndrome so I really can't comment. Patients with this syndrome usually have healing problems and are not considered candidates for elective plastic surgery but I would suggest seeing a plastic surgeon at an academic center (University near you) as they would be the most knowledgable about the risks associated with Ehler's Danlos Syndrome.

@@DrWilliamMiamithank you so much for answering! When I got mine done 9 years ago I haven’t had my diagnose yet so I didn’t know I had Eds at that time so I wasn’t worried. Unfortunately I did get the hematoma on one side one week post op maybe due to the blood thinner that they gave me after surgery to prevent a thrombosis (and since I didn’t know I had Eds it may have resulted in additional bleeding) or maybe the surgeons work was more traumatic on that side well never know. The emergency surgery went well tho I took longer to heal that’s actually very true. I wore my bra for over 4 Months post op I was to worried something would happen. Unfortunately there’s not many good surgeons who can perform a explant exchange due to capsular contraction they don’t know about mesh either nor about eds so I’m really struggling. If I had the funds I’d come see you

What if the patient has implants before being diagnosed with hyper mobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrom and needs an exchange due to unilateral capsular contraction??

Ok so this video is exactly what I have been looking for. The part about breast implant illness rates is at 56 minutes. The surgeon says it is a condition that happens in less than 1% of patients. This combined with the less than 1% capitula contracture rate wen placed in the infirmary fold means that implants are very safe. I will state that because my wife has been interested on and off about getting her boobs done, I have taken interest in the safety of this. I am not in the medical profession. The last thing I would want is for my wife to have a high chance of getting sick. It stands to reason that with the many medical devices that use medical silicon, that the silicon shell would not be the culprit, if it was then people that have artificial knees, and other things would be having symptoms similar to BII.

@DrWilliamMiami This may seem a little off-topic. The birth control that goes in the arm, are these made of a medical grade silicone shell? I am becoming of the opinion that people that are having negative reactions to breast implants are allergic to the silicone. If a woman had the in the arm with control and did not have a negative response to i should then breast implants should be largely no big deal?

Silicone is inert which is why it is used in almost every medical implantable device. I have never heard or seen anyone being allergic to an implant or any chemotherapy report or a knee joint etc
