It's quite astonishing that the idiom "Eyes bigger than your belly'' is similar to a Vietnamese idiom ''con mắt to hơn cái bụng''! 😄

Eat to your heart's content is a good expression as well. When I get invited to a buffet I don't pile up my plate but take bits of the things I like or I want to try. I can't finish a plate full of food.

You have explained about Indian buffet System in an incredible way.I am an Indian I experience it a lot. People prefer to have caterers in wedding because they are strange. People get upset and angry if relatives or acquaintances do not serve them as much as they demand, usually they don't do so with caterers due to unknowing them. These days catering System has increased a lot in India. As far as All-you- can- eat restaurants are also available in many areas. They give four pieces of chicken with rice and salad at about 1 dollar. you can ask for rice with gravy as much as you may eat freely.

As the economic growth goes higher, desire to eat declines. Interests shift. In the less affluent societies, eating is a big issue. They stuff themselves at parties and gatherings. The purpose of gatherings is eating, while it changes to good quality conversation with more affluent societies.

I am more interested in what they do with the left buffet food. In India, it's still allowed to give left over food to the destitutes. In Africa, the guests to gatherings with food bring doggy bags. They take the left over home. Gate crushers are often found, too.

I'd like to refer something about this topic. In old times there was not such a habit and slmost all hotels in Japan, which is small or mini hotels, provide one plate and a cup of miso soup and a rice. So so previous days, Japanese people don't eat well in like a hotel. And I want to tell you listeners that an old style hotel is called as "Minshuku". Okay, check it out, bye.

Minshuku=Home Stay or Guest House. Nowadays in Japan, travellers pick where to stay depending on the quality of breakfast. They prefer buffet style breakfast. Things have change a lot.

I used to love buffet but now I am not. It's cuz we need to eat an awful lot of food otherwise the money wouldn't be well spent, right? However, normally I don't have a big stomach to digest huge amt of goodies in short period of time. Further, this way of eating is probably not healthy at all
