I've noticed that almost all of my favourite games have a good and memorable sountrack. I think a good track at the right moment can make the experience exponentially better, it can give you so much emotion that it can change how you play completely. Payday is done so well that depending on what music is playing i change my playstile, something like death wish track makes me want to stay back and rambo, something like death row makes me cautious, stuff like evil eye makes me want to style, and then full force forward makes me concentrate to max level...

When you've known how it works after a while, it's easy to forget how well thought-out this is, and it's nice to take a step back and appreciate how much effort went into making the music fit with the gameplay. Also it's always been satisfying hearing an alternative version for an assault track. Even years later me and my friend still get surprised and a bit hyped when we get the vocals for "Break the Rules", and I'm very glad they kept using this feature later on, even recently with Deadeye.

This is an amazing video, from such a small, underrated creator. Wish I found this sooner. You deserve more recognition this is fantastic content dude Fanboying aside; I've always wondered if the music in payday 2 plays in the Heister's head or if its like in some sort of headphone device thing, like how Bain's communication is probably only heard from the Heisters and not the enemies or civs, since having Bain's assistance be heard by everyone nearby wouldn't be good. Perhaps the music may just be a sign of how immersed or focused the Heisters get when things get loud, or stealthy Funnily enough, the game's soundtrack is what actually got me into the game. I Heard the "No Mercy - Blood Spillage" track on youtube from a video, and thought "isnt there a *second* payday game?" Then I then found Code Silver 2018 of which I, of course, instantly fell in love with, which lead me to watching videos on the actual No Mercy Heist, most notably GeneralMcBadass' video. After countless more listens and videos watched, I played the heist, loved it, and then played it again. ...about 17 times. The soundtrack just doesnt get old, or the close-quarters combat too, the throwing of grenades at shields out of my reach, the accidental slaughters of civs, and the many failed attempts at the beginning stealth part still get me jumping in my chair giddy with excitement. I've heard the second assault in No mercy on several different occasions though. But I really won't forget how the soundtrack and robbing of a Hospital was what got me into a Heisting game, and not a bank or jewelry store of which are the most iconic and popular just shows how unique and diverse Payday 2 is. It's a concept I didn't think twice about trying. Despite its clunky engine, its questionable realism, and other things, I cant believe I just turned a small thought about the music into a whole paragraph about how I got into the game because thats exactly how I found interest for the game in the first place. Thats how you know a game is just *that* good. Thanks for reading (or not reading) my large block of text, hope someone sees this (lol)

I’m pretty sure it’s just a small chance. I’ve gotten the 2nd track before the elevator.
@walale123 жыл бұрын
I think that's because you're likely to encounter more assault waves whilst waiting for the elevator, as it's the longest section of the heist, especially if you're good at stealth. So you'll hear the assault portion more times, and therefore will have a higher chance of hearing the alternate version at least once.

Love the video, just wanna throw my two cents in with “bridging”. Sometimes desynch could happen so badly that the assault “never” happens, what I mean by that is that the assault is happening but somehow it skipped over actually starting the assault music, meaning the control version could be playing over it, or worse, the anticipation version and hear and endless 3 second loop.

the desync thing isn't actually desync and it's actually the assault being delayed so anticipation gets lengthened because of the number of hostages/heist triggers/a lot of other stuff. it seems to vary quite wildly but the music has nothing to do with being sync'd on your end, you can be offline and have this exact thing happen. this is however what I believe to be true. it might also factor in desync as well but idk completely. and yeah it's roughly 10% for the alt track to play
@Mot-dh5sx3 жыл бұрын
The watchdogs escape video can actually be killed before he arrives because it’s stationed so close to the map before it arrives. Killing the escape driver was a common tactic for old challenge runs, which in turn has been made more difficult by ovk patching it slightly, so now you need a gl instead of an rl. Killing it early will proc the helicopter to come early, meaning you can escape with 0 bags and softlock yourself out of day 2.

Ive heard somewhere that its not actually random but its a bit more counter intuitive, there has to be lots of cops on the map for it to play the alternate version, i believe this to be true because sometimes the lyrics of ode to greed play in the middle of an assault, and i usually just hide in a corner while kingpin recharges so i dont exactly go on a rampage so theres usually lots of cops on the map, which might be a bit of bias on my part but i always found it to be above 50 cops or so

4:39 I have confidence that its not the case, I got alt soundtrack at literally first assault, so yea, those are completely random with, I think, better chances of happening during their deafult heists

I don’t use professional coding language, I use scratch. But I can explain the basics of what peer to peer is. In most coding languages there are these things called “variables” which just keep track of a certain number/phrase. Some variables can be linked to the internet itself, not a server. If an internet variable is set to a player’s xy and z positions and then sets those variables to their corresponding coordinates, that model’s positio. Is saved to the internet. Detecting certain online rooms to enter those coordinates into.

I'm sorry, but i'm playing right now death wish Diamond Heist, and have Deadeye as music (last played this music a 2 months ago). It's second wave, i'm in the vault and i'm hearing the Mexican version. I'm incredible lucky, or you are incredible unlucky sir.

@@GameRevo I didn't even know it was special. I was like, "Oh, this is neat." And went on my session. XD

I would like to add that I have gotten the special vocals of break the rules almost once every heist and I am certainly concerned that the chances for that were rare

Break The Rules does it for me when I'm the last one standing. In that moment, it's just me, the cops, the LMGs on my shoulders and the music blaring at 200%

After 500 hours on PD2 I got Ode to Greed alt assault TWICE. 1st time was after breaching the vault, 2nd time was before I found the correct PC to hack.

Wow, that is... seriously unlucky. I wonder if the chances are the same for all songs.

Going from someone who spends way too much time listening to Payday's soundtrack compared to playing the game, a bit more elaboration on the specifics I've seen people annotate the stages the music work with. Most Payday tracks follow a select handful of stages, though not every song uses these stages. I'm gonna use Payback Roulette, the soundtrack of Black Cat, as an example/excuse cus that's the one I'm currently listening to in another tab: Stealth Intro: The very start of the heist, has a bit more flourish than you'd get by the stealth part just looping. Basically plays just at the start of the heist. Stealth: Self explanatory. Plays before the heist gets hot, basically all you hear in Shadow Raid. Control Intro: This usually plays by the time the cops are called, and acts as the bridge between Stealth and the Control phase, the game begins swapping to Loud Mode. Control: Control is the in-between phase where the assaults aren't happening and most the objective playtime's going on while the cops are a minor threat. Anticipation: The point where the assault's about to hit and the music starts to ramp up and ready for it. Anticipation End: The 'lagtime' part of the track brought up above as well. For Payback Roulette, this is simply a short jingle reminiscent of Gun Metal Grey. Assault Intro: The non-looping final ramp before Assault really starts up and signals the assault phase proper starting. Usually synced up with Bain saying something like 'NOW GIVE THEM HELL!' or similar. Assault: The really heavy hard part of the music. Shit's going down, bulldozers are banging doors in, good times had by all unless your kit isn't set up for this heist. Usually when Assault ends, we hit back to Control Intro, keeping up some of the previous tension of Assault but letting it wind back down to the Control phase.

Payday 2's multiplayer is actually not peer-to-peer. It's client/server, with one of the clients (the host) acting as a shared client/server instance.
@gabrielandy92723 жыл бұрын
i think due to the fact the game have a system to send data trough other clients in case of issues to connecting to the host it could be called peer to peer, ... for example if theres 4 people in the game, player A host, and players bcd if player B have connection isssues to the host, the game will try to make player be send the data to player C to send to the host, to send back to C to then send to B just to keep the player connected.....

0:36 I know you're talking about functionality but I like to think that break the rules with lyrics is the best one

There's nothing better out there than going nuts with your LMG while "Give You My All is blasting" . Try it out yourself if you don't believe me.
