Btw in payday 2 the music is split between Stealth (the least intense bit of the song) and once stealth is over the Anticipation (the build up), the assault phase (where the most intense bit of the song) and fade (where things calm down) and it constantly cycle between the last 3. Reason for it is because the music signifies the current phase of the most intense bit of Payday 2. The assault waves. Razormind has all of them the more quiet tense bit, then the build up, then the intense part, then the calming down which will then reset back to the build up Edit: there's also a control part of a song which is a transition point between the stealth and the build up in the anticipation some of the tracks also has an alternate bit thar occasionally plays. Like Deadeye and its mexican theme bit with a trumpet and other instruments (its very different from the normal electro theme one) or Break the rules and it lyrics. At times you won't even hear these parts of the song in a heist.
@Schizoknight3 ай бұрын
Lionmight, ^^^ THIS IS A MUST-SEE ^^^ Also, you can choose to play a mission either in Stealth or Loud in Payday, so it's like "do stealth, mess up, go loud with banger music" (at least that's how developers intended), so that's why 1st stage is called "Stealth".

@@Chitlar_1939 control/recon but yeah the music will start to ramp up once both of those phases starts. Sometimes that phase is skipped but that depends on the drama mechanic. Speaking of which i should also mentioned that some track like Deadeye has an alternate bit that plays everynow and then

the music is one of the big reasons why payday 2 is one of my fav games of all time
@KessokuBassist3 ай бұрын
Payday 2 Music is usually separated into sections based on the intensity of the current game. As you can see with Razormind here: 4:06 - This is what's known as the 'STEALTH' portion of the song and loops as long as the heist is going quietly with no police involved, this underlying tension and danger stems from that. 5:05 - This is the 'PREPARATION' portion of the song and loops once police have been alerted of the heist and first responders are en route, the main rhythm of the song finally makes itself known here. 5:35 - This is 'ANTICIPATION' and will loop to indicate that first responders had failed and they are now sending in SWAT, which is typically accompanied by that buildup. 5:56 - 'ASSAULT' this portion loops when SWAT has finally arrived with all their force, typically accompanied by a rolling banner in-game marking 'POLICE ASSAULT IN PROGRESS', whenever SWAT has been repelled, the music loops back to 'PREPARATION' then builds up once again as they regroup themselves to attempt another go at stopping you.

You might as well just watch the entire playlist, the soundtrack just is that good. :) The way the soundtracks are designed, they often start off with the "Stealth" phase, followed by the "Control" phase (when it's transitioning from stealth to loud) then the quick "Anticipation" phase kicks in before it finally leads over to the "Assault" phase when the swat team finally arrived.

You _may_ have seen all the other comments about how tracks are divided into Stealth/Control/Assault (with Anticipation and Fade being the intro and outro to Assault), so I'll add some trivia: Simon explained that composing for Payday is quite challenging as you basically have to make 3 tracks in one + actually implementing the differents loops in the game and having it sounds good was tricky. Make sure to listen to the full track, as one labelled (assault) are just that loop. While the most important you could be missing on some gems for stealth tracks ( _Shadows And Trickery_ as well as _Utter Chaos_ comes to mind). Songs labelled with a year are remixes of tracks from the first game, so feel free to also listen to the originals as they are also technically part of the second game's soundtrack. Finally, at some point Simon decided to mix it up, so the control/stealth part comes after the assault in the official arrangements for a couple tracks.

Without going into the in-game reasons behind it, almost every song in the Payday 2 OST has a set progression of the tone of the songs. They typically have 4-5 different tones throughout the song and it frankly gives each and every song a very good flow/pacing, making it an overall very enjoyable listening experience without any game context. This is why I love the composer, Simon Viklund.
@L4ZY21373 ай бұрын
The music needs to be loopable, so each song is divided into [optional]( stealth and then detected part next is troops incoming) then is preparing for assault, the assault and break between assaout. Thats why some tracks are shorter, because in those heists you can't go stealthy, so it is just the assault parts.

In game the first part of the music (the “chill” or more suspenseful part) of the music loops when you are sneaking around, but once you go “loud” (you get seen or shoot or throw a grenade, something like that) then the next 2 parts of the music play while the police get ready (control and anticipation) and then once the police start coming the beat drops (assault) so the assault version of songs are the part that loops when you are blasting a bunch of enemies. You definitely need to check out “Use of force” next btw!

i dunno if you already heard it but Mark, PAYDAY from Alesso and a few songs from Le Castle Vania for Payday 2 are some of my personal favourites but one i really like above the rest is White Collar Crime which is i believe one of the few stealth only songs that are interactive with the game, the more objetives you complete the more instruments are added that gives this old jazz club vibe to every heist

I really like your videos, I would love to see you react to the XCOM Enemy Unknown OST, my top picks would be “Combat Music 5” and “Mission Control” my favorite tracks out of the entire OST. As a bit of context, you’re basically fighting aliens in the game.

I've stopped playing payday years ago. But it's ost's still in my playlist for workout, and youtube still recomends me reactions for those tracks. And yes. I'm really enjoying them 😂 As they say, you can leave heisting behind, but you still need your payday. I really hope you will react to some more tracks from that game.

In Razormind if that is the song that plays during a heist, I like how the quiet part loops if you go stealthy and then the drop happens and the song goes crazy when you do the heist loud. I used to do it loud to hear the rest of the song.

best part about payday 2 music is the modularity of it during assault There's different stages so during full on assault theres the epic part and during assault downtime theres the more chill part so its really atmospheric during gameplay

forgot to mention each map that you play has a pre determined song attached you can play a custom one or random one but you can also listen to hot pursuit during a literal hot pursuit situation i like those pre determined ones

Hey Lion. Despite the wishes of wanting to be musically talented but since I'm not it's still very nice and refreshing to hear a professional input on the shows/games that people like such as this! While Payday 2 has A LOT of kickass music and I'd be very keen to hear your input on that there's also Made in Abyss (anime) that has a very beautiful, mostly orchestral style soundtrack like "Gravity" and "Pathway" if you'd be interested to look into that too.
