The Hidden Risks of Backing Out ServiceNow Update Sets

Do you like chaos? Do you like causing all sorts of problems? Do you enjoy breaking stuff? Well, who’s ready to BREAK ServiceNow!?!? …*ahem* ok, well, you may not actually break ServiceNow…so that was a bit dramatic…but…when backing out an update set, you do increase the chance that something else could break or lead to potential data loss, and if you ever plan to reintroduce that development back into the platform, you’ll come across a few conflicts.

Thank you - this is solid advice and should all be considered for the official documentation. I can understand data protection as a feature, but there are situations where the platform needs to do better with update set management. Example: deleting certain tables (especially tables extended from core tables) can leave “residue” in system tables which not even an admin can clean up. I would like to see this rectified, as it is a blemish on an otherwise great platform.
