Thank you for bringing realism to the economic discussion. I am please that you invite comments. Pro-growth policy is needed to boost the economy so the huge deficit can be addressed. Cnertiinly the socialists think they can tax, spend and confiscate wealth. Negative prosperity is our legacy unless policy can be changed to free market capitalism.

I like your prospective Mr Forbes. It’s amazing to me how things have changed in media and I am able to actually speak to someone I have watched for years and they might even read my comments. You should do these videos more. This is where people are getting information now not the national media.

I agree, Steve, but basically killing off a healthy (that is, not totally indebted) middle class has removed the most important component of demand, and stimulus, that our economy has traditionally relied on and which temporary actions by the Fed can never fully replicate. As long as ordinary Americans are unable to provide a spending cushion under the economy, it will continue to tank. Maybe special interest money influencing our politicians to divert funding from education, healthcare and financial security for the middle class into tax cuts for the very wealthy has a taken a toll on our economic foundation, not to mention our democracy, after all.

Trump is not even close to being a conservative. Yes with the help of so called deficit hawk Paul Ryan they delivered a great tax cut with a corresponding increase in spending. Did not have political courage to cut any spending. Our grandchildren will pay a very heavy price for Trump presidency.

When Steve Forbes speaks he's worth listening to, his business IS business! My best economic indicator is a personal one. I quit smoking in the Summer of 2023. By all rights I should be seeing an additional $250 in my wallet each month. Guess what? I'm not seeing it. Other rising expenses have eaten it up. So no "talking head" is about to fool me (or you) into believing how great things are. My wallet doesn't lie.

Government spending on infrastructure education and healthcare pays off, it’s an investment. Giving more tax breaks to corporations (trickle down economics) does not work, it just moves more wealth to the top. Regulations are necessary to protect people and environment from the rapacious greed and self interest of Capitalism.
@wisenber8 ай бұрын
Few that pay taxes like taxes, but the current rates are around where we need to be. Revenue is up by 33% since then. The problem is spending is up 50%. Cut spending and reform regulation to at least reduce the growth rate of debt. The Treasury Department was asleep at the wheel when they didn't lock in longer term lower rate debt like every homeowner with a mortgage did.

I partly may agree with the concept Steve Forbes express that "...the Federal Reserve does get understand the true nature of inflation....". They certainly understand the true nature of inflation, but they may not know haw to solve the challenges the economy has and they use old practice to discharge the economic downturn to inflation which force peoples to pay the consequences. With inflation a country get the money from production sector and pay for military expenses and for other government sectors who do not produce anything.

Economy has had ups and downs for decades. Spending in times of Trump’s debt increase was never commented by you , right? It will go down in some years to come due to banks gambling, or some other reason. You are cheap: it’s an easy shot to predict risks for an upcoming crisis, when the economy is doing well!

All with new cars quality clothes , gold chains and a map. Many taking photos of welcome to south Australia. Toyota,Audi and range rover and BMW doing well with these imported buyers. But the housing and rental sector is near impossible to get. Banks won't lend and rentals are thru the roof $ and un available. Overall it's a similar circus tested in all corners of the world and were watching the Muppets show

Then, there is no world war but there is the Latvian war. It is funny how things don't get accounted properly, painting a picture...

I suppose it depends on what the government is actually spending money on. Often when a government creates a contract there are lots of middle men (and women) who don’t create any value but siphon off the taxpayer money (consultants, the people who create rackets, people who overcharge and under deliver). I’m not saying this doesn’t happen in private industry but. On the other hand when I visited the USA (wonderful country) its roads and infrastructure is almost that of a third world country in many places.

Only Forbes informs. These evil overlords keep their power and wealth while they deliberately sacrifice the lives of millions of innocent people on their godless altar. "The books of heaven" record it all, and every sin involved will meet its recompense, which again shows how Satan rules "the wickedness of the wicked." It always gets back to Luke 4:6 where Satan determines who holds both the money and the power. Daniel 2&7, and Revelation 13&17 confirm. People need to dust off their Bibles; study history; and pray to the LORD to know what is true and what is not. Let them begin with Isaiah 24: the plainest chapter showing the conclusion of sin on the Earth. That chapter needs to be settled in everyone's mind.

How long has the US had a national debt and kept adding to it? It dominates the behind-the-scenes picture and has for a long time now. We have a collective ignore-ance of the gravity of it, the delusion of it. But someday it will matter like the Emperor Has No Clothes story. It’s the same attitude we have about our carbon emissions as well. But, until then it appears we are going to party like there is no tomorrow playing our dangerous musical chairs game and hoping that the music doesn’t stop while we each are still alive. So Steve is right, as are all doomsayers, but the when of the matter is anybody’s guess. I’m guessing it’s soon and will unfold as a series of cascading catastrophes, collectively known by archeologists as civilization collapse. Humans have done this many, many times in the past. But don’t ask me what soon means. Guess for yourself.
