First fish was a beauty, hey you can’t land em all, just goes to show that you are human and not the fish catching machine we all thought you were. 🤣😂🤣. I miss a lot of hits on the frog but hard to comprehend how a bass hits a treble hooked lure and doesn’t get stuck. Gotta love the top water bite though. Good stuff Dana.

I should have replaced the hooks on my topwater bait, I got lazy and it cost me some fish. I replaced hooks on a bunch yesterday and didn't lose many today.

@@FCPFishing I usually use either the Mustad KVD Short Shank Hooks, the BKK Short Shank Spear Treble Hooks, or the Owners Short Shank ST-35’s, try them 🎣

great vid! summer is tough on me. how far does your e pop move with every twitch? medium/fast rod? don't have a lot of confidence in an e pop and never caught on it but i want to keep trying it since you have good luck with it. usually i get some good bites with a heddon bone spook jr for topwater early morning.

The key is to only move it 3 or 4 inches on every pop. I did a video explaining how I fish it last year. You should look for it on my channel. I use a 7 foot medium heavy rod and 14 lb Gamma Fluorocarbon line. The fluoro is important. I did another video recently explaining why to use fluoro when everyone says not to. There is a technique to it, but once you get it figured out it works every time.

Thanks! I replaced all of the hooks, so that should fix the problem. I'm pretty calm these days, I do like seeing the occasional tantrum on your channel though. Always makes me laugh.

Fun stuff Dana. Do you ever throw a follow up bait like a fluke when they miss the E-Pop? Do you think the top water bite lasted longer due to the overcast skies?

The overcast definitely helped the bite last longer on that day. I do throw a follow up bait sometimes, but I'm having so much fun with the topwater that it's hard to throw anything else. I just keep going with the topwater. I replaced all of the hooks so I shouldn't miss so many from now on.

Man you and John at MOTM had about the same day of fishing. I hate when they just swipe at the lure, it's very frustrating, but it's all in fishing and man I have had those days before! You still ended up with some great fish. You can always send that old beat up Spro over to Don at Ragged Edge and let him put you a new pattern on it!! I think I'm going to send him a few and let him work his magic on them. The man it an artist with an airbrush!! Great video Dana!!

Me and Don support each others channels, but I honestly think sometimes they work better with some of the finish worn off. I got lazy and didn't replace the hooks which cost me some fish. The factory hooks aren't very good on any bait you buy. I know better and have replaced them for the next trip. I caught another Catfish today, they are just waiting for you.

I’ll start checking out air bnb and vrbo to see what’s available and when. I really want to fish that lake. Been missing a few myself. Still using the fluke on top and doing good till around and 11 am. Fishing brush piles on south end near the dam. I just can't catch throwing to points and banks like you. Is the south end that much different from the area you fish

Yes, it is completely different. The north and south end might as well be different lakes altogether. I need to get back down to the south end for a video soon, but my old truck that I pull my boat with isn't very trustworthy at this point.

That is something I may do in the future. I have t shirts, but didn't sell enough to make it worth while so I don't promote them. I need to find someone to design it and it all costs so much. Maybe someday.
