Hi Loren - thanks for your very nice comment. This is the best place to contact me - just fyi. Be sure to watch "Why I Removed Mention of My Higher Education" video (title might be slightly off, but it'll be easy to locate using the search tool on KZbin). Having a paralegal certificate, being certified through NALA, Bachelors degree, etc. doesn't necessarily give you an edge when starting out. What gives you an edge is relaying to the hiring law firm administrator and/or attorney how you are a "fit" for the position you're applying for. Keep binge watching all of the videos on this channel. In Sept. and Oct. of 2017, I taught a private class called "Paralegal Inner Circle". So true. I just declined an offer to work in house for an insurance carrier fondo construction defect where the base salary was $80k plus bonus. Only reason I declined was because the work-life balance at the current firm is very hard to beat.

California has strict requirements compared to the other 49 states. Research what the Paralegal regulations are for your particular state.

I've been told by attorneys throughout my career that they felt I could handle anything because I was an experienced Litigation Paralegal. So, there it is. My litigation experience has opened many doors.

Kimberly - it's the same, whether it's a private law firm or the government. You have to know how to help the attorney in a very practical way (on Day 1). The government seems to like to promote from within, but it's worth applying if you are ready to do so. :) - Leslie
