My father went to work in the oil fields of South Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico after Vietnam. He would often tell stories to my mother of the crazy singing helicopter pilot (A former Vietnam helicopter pilot) who would fly him to and from the oil rigs, And speak of his dreams to go to Hollywood and become famous. One day the pilot up and left South Louisiana. Years later my mother talked my father into going to see a love story called a star is born starring Barbra Streisand and who else but that crazy singing helicopter pilot Kris Kristofferson. From the Vietnam helicopter pilot to standing on stage performing one of the greatest country songs of all time he has truly lived the American story.
