"THE twigs which N'Longa flung on the fire broke and crackled. The upleaping flames lighted the countenances of the two men. N'Longa, voodoo man of the Slave Coast, was very old. His wizened and gnarled frame was stooped and brittle, his face creased by hundreds of wrinkles. The red firelight glinted on the human finger-bones which composed his necklace.
The other was an Englishman, and his name was Solomon Kane. He was tall and broad-shouldered, clad in black close garments, the garb of the Puritan. His featherless slouch hat was drawn low over his heavy brows, shadowing his darkly pallid face. His cold deep eyes brooded in the firelight."

The narrator is Robertson Dean. I have the 'Horror Stories of REH' and this is on there. He is one of the better readers out there, for sure.

I remember Solomon Kane stories in Conan comics. The artwork was terrible, the worst but the stories were great.

This is good yeah the brazen racism is awkward but unfortunately you can't Change history

Is it racism really? It’s just an archetype after all, and it’s not like it was fabricated from nothing. I think people are just too scared to tap into African native lore. There is tons good stuff there.

@@scottydu81 Obviously like most of the stories of it’s time such as the Edgar Rice Burroughs stories etc tapped into the stereotypes and fears of and around black people simply because it made good imaginative reading by perpetuating “the myths”! Doesn’t make it right but it should be kept in the context of its time and not celebrated as some archetype for black people and some monumental great work of literature. Its like saying Mein kampf served as an archetype for Jews or that Nat Turner was right for beheading white babies (although revolution was needed for change!) I would like to think we have evolved as human beings and do not need to keep perpetuating myths and or stereotypes of any race or colour. We currently see what this does in a certain part of the Middle East where those native to the land are being displaced.

@@scottydu81 and your what’s WRONG with the world today my friend. In your case ignorance is bliss and as long as your archaic kind continue so will the problems of the world and it’s lack of understanding of different cultures and beliefs.
