Good evening sir, as per my previous commitment, today I watched this editorial session as your organization usually closed on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Today's motivational quote is from my side "A little progress each day adds up to big results." Editorial is concerning to the crime in politics across the country. In editorial:- The Supreme Court has taken a decision, agreeing to hear a plea from the Election Commission of India (ECI), directing the political parties to not field candidates those who have criminal backgrounds. The 46% of members of parliament have criminal backgrounds due to which such actions have been taken by the concerned authority. The number might be increased as some of the members have involved in minor offences like Unlawful assembly and defamation but the real worry is that approx 20% of the members have involved in serious crime. Experts have found that such participants with serious offences seem to do well despite their public image due to ability to finance their own elections and they arranged resources for their parties. Some voters have tendency to see such candidates through a narrow prism. Others don’t want to punish such candidates due to the similar record of oppositions. These inappropriate tendencies show bad impression of the nature of India’s state institutions. The SC has come up with a series of colossal judgments to sort out this issue. It removed the protection immediately those who have convicted and also directed to complete the trials as soon as possible. The SC asked the Centre to establish a special court to monitor these cases and also directed political parties to intimate the pending criminal cases. But these have not restrained the legislators and still quite far from the result. A rule should be made to cancel the candidates those who have serious offences, but it is related to parliament to consider an amendment to the representation of the people Act, 1951. However, the conclusion is imaginable as many representatives of the Lower house have serious cases. Eventually, it is a result of structural problem of India’s democracy and the nature of the Indian States. In my notion:- There can be no denying that most of lawmakers have criminal cases due to which they never raise their hand to amend the Representation of the people Act 1951. Sometimes, it has also seen that when a party comes under power they usually try to hide offences of their leaders due to which several cases have been pending since long time. Some of places where people are forced to support those who have criminal backgrounds and when any honest man try to contest the election, they use all the powers either taking law in hand or intimidating him. Somewhere, these things may be happening due to the drawbacks in previous policies which need to be amended on priority whereby people can choose good candidate and development of country can be grown well. Besides, the SC which has given direction to the Centre to establish a special Court where hearing of only these cases will be done and also directed the political parties to intimate the name of leaders those who have involved in criminal cases whereby appropriate action could be initiated on priority. Other than this, it is also true that the leaders follow the nepotism formula like when he is going to retire from the politics his son or other relatives work as successor which is unconstitutional and somewhere it stops the talented candidates those who have capacity to work for the development of the country. ■ COMMON ERROR # Mr. Johnson will be the first head (a)/ of government to VISIT India after (b)/ the spread of COVID-19. (c)/ No error (d) # In what he called a “ten-year” road map for relations, Mr. Raab discussed with External (a)/ Affairs Minister S.
