The Hindu Temple in Neasden

Ever been to the stunning BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in north London?
It's built from carved marble, shipped over from India and pieced together like a 3D jigsaw puzzle. No steel or cement was used.
You can visit the temple for free, and take part in - or observe - Hindu ceremonies.

I Visited the temple two or three years ago. A fascinating place with a welcoming community. As I left on foot I asked a member of staff for directions to the nearest tube station. He insisted on driving me there in his car. He chatted to me about his work there, his family and how life has been for an Asian man living in London since arriving in the 70’s. I learnt a lot on my visit to the temple and possibly even more during that quick lift to the station. #community #respect #understanding #hospitality

In November 1992 the temple recorded the UK's largest concrete pour when 4,500 tons were poured in 24 hours to form the foundations and floor pad.

I went to this back in school many years ago a very palatial structure ! I also remember travelling there on an A stock and then changing for the Jubilee at Neasden !

Where I live is essentially the birthplace of religious freedom. We have Catholic, Baptist, Temples, Islamic centers etc. but no Hindu Temples of note that look that good.
