The Historic Doctor Meade House, Symmes Township Farm Chickens Horses

The Meade house was built in 1906 on an over 200-acre farm for Dr. Charles C. Meade, a homeopathic physician at the Pulte Medical College of Cincinnati. Dr. Meade lived in this house with his second wife, continuing to assist neighbors with difficult births in his retirement. He sold the house in 1917 and moved to the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati.
There are many interesting details about the house, including a brick building located a few feet to the south and west of the main house. This building, thought to have been a privy/wash house, which contained a fireplace facility that not only heated water, but also heated the building. Additionally, in the entrance hall there is a built-in bench with a small room to the side. It has been said that the bench was Dr. Meade's "waiting area" and the small office was his medical office. There is a working windmill out behind the house that powered a well pump and brought running water into the home.
