The historic Huguenot houses of London's East End

French Protestant refugees fled Catholic France in the late 17th century with some settling in London's east end. Their skills as silk weavers soon found a ready market in nearby Petticoat Lane. The houses that were built for these Huguenots still remain, surviving World War Two bombings and urban redevelopment.
