Disagree. Brainwashed and overly obsessed. Typical religious person. Care more about the afterlife and a place within it, than the gift of life that's already been given....WHICH IS TRUE WISDOM. Valueing what is, not what might be. How many people upon thier death bed have regrets, because they didn't live life to the best or the righteous way within the moment and PRESENT. Hense why life is a GIFT. How you appreciate it MATTERS and only that.

Save me Jesus. I said it, and in less than 3 heartbeats, a pair of hands, and then a second, grabbed at the tire attached to the axle they was coming down upon my chest. I had been running cable underneath a cement truck and got trapped as those extra load bearing wheels, and it's axle suddenly started coming down and pinned me to the creeper that I was laying on. I was seconds away from being snapped in half, and if I believe anything in this entire cosmos I believe that my mother loves me to the galaxies, and that Jesus Christ, my Lord and my Savior saved me that day. Those guys weren't there a minute earlier, and I kinda whispered the words because I thought I was alone at the time. I didn't realize that there was anyone around to help me so I called out to my God. And he got back to me in about 3 heartbeats. I said the words, 1,2,3, and the axle was yanked up, and I was saved. You all can question God's existences, but the question that I have is why me?

I love the way people like yourself ‘Thank god’ for saving your life. Yet you never question why god put you in that position in the first place. In other words, as that axle was laying on your chest why didn’t you shout out ‘What the fuck you doing god?’ It’s like why when people recover from Cancer and thank god for curing them, but they never blame god for getting it in the first place. I just find that very convenient.

When you see a young man like this putting in the time, and educating himself to learn about Jesus in both a spiritual and historical context, it brings joy to my heart. I've always been a God fearing man, but I have a very scientific and curios mind to know the truth, so I was worried that by doing research on the truth of Jesus, it might put me at a crossroads to my faith. But I prayed, I knew Jesus would not have put this curious mind in me, unless it was for good. For years as I went through my journey, what I found was that my faith became stronger and my finding were reinforcing my beliefs, which made me a stronger and more passionate Christian. So bravo, I hope other young men and women watch and follow this young man's example, God Bless him.

Could you please explain to me what the " historical context " of Jesus is ? Why is he not mentioned anywhere else, except the bible ? If you can believe in a virgin birth , or people walking on water, you do not have " a very scientific and curious ( spelt incorrectly) mind " , and the " truth" is something you have no interest in.

@@StevenBrown-w5b Jesus is recorded in Tacitus biography of Pontius Pilate. Tacitus was a Roman historian- Tacitus was not a Christian by the way. Ancient historians of the time were very few. Josephus Jewish historian did not mention Jesus, however, his accounts confirm Tacitus account. It is very likely that Jesus existed but it is not possible to confirm it scientifically for historical records This is why Christians believe by Faith. Faith is belief in the absence of evidence

You can and should research - the bible also encourages it - for my people perish for lack of knowledge. The reason I am a Christian today IS because of the research I did. I have no choice but to believe. The evidence can't be refuted, never has been, never will be and more evidence comes out every day proving it again and again. I would be actively and intentionally lying and denying the truth if denied Jesus. I literally have no choice. I encourage everyone else to set about finding the proof. And be intellectually honest. Know when people are telling you what they believe to be true and then research why and set about proving that wrong.

I studied The Bible in secular academia that by default accepts many of the arguments that Ehrman and other agnostics/atheists make. I learned there that the linchpin of the gospel dating is 70 AD, because that was the year that the Temple was destroyed so that had to be the earliest possible date that what was determined to be the earliest gospel-by textual criticism-i.e. Mark was written, because Jesus prophesied the destruction of The Temple in Mark, and so it is assumed that the words or the prophecy were put in Jesus’ mouth after the fact. They assume that Mark-or at least that prophecy- was hastily invented and written immediately after the Temple’s destruction, the same year. It can be argued that the traumatic catastrophe of the Temple’s destruction-for both Christians and Jews-triggered the determination to write the first gospel because it occurred to the surviving disciples that Jesus predicted that-and got in trouble for it-and made sure that Mark knew that. But it seems to me that much of the material in Mark suggests and even indicates, as evidence, a much earlier date for its composition, but the daters, when pulling back the gospel earlier in the 1st Century to conform to the suggestions and indications of earlier composition come to a screeching halt at year 70, because secular biblical scholarship cannot in good conscience entertain the possibility that Jesus actually prophesied the destruction, even if he really did but because it’s disqualified by the premise of godlessness it’s just a coincidence. The entire dating system of the gospels is based on that premise.

Do the math.. ____________________________________________________ You were taught by Paul that there's no remission of sin without shedding of blood. You were fooled by him. The purpose of the sacrefice is as a peace offering after forgivness was already given by God because the individual has already repented. God would not accept that sacrefice any other way. It's like bringing flowers to someone that you've hurt. The flowers themselves won't mean a thing if you did not show repentance and apologize. *Psalm 40* 7 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire-*but my ears you have opened- burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.* *See how Paul changed that as he did many other texts:* “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, *but a body you prepared for me;* You really think God cannot forgive without shedding of blood ?? It is not impossible. ____________________________________________________ *See how Paul distorts the words of Isiah.* *Romans 11:* 26 The deliverer will come *from Zion; *he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.* 27 And *this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”* (?????) *Isiah 59:* 20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion, *to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,”* declares the Lord. 21 “As for me, *this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants-from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.* ____________________________________________________

@@jaymzonionwell you you can’t deny this one though: ~500 years BC in the “Jewish bible” aka Old Testament, had predicted many things accurately: read the verses carefully when going through the information below 👇 Daniel ~500+ BC, Daniel 9:24-27 is 70 weeks each day for a year. Prophecy is 1 day = 1 year in prophetic language as stated in the scriptures 👉 Numbers 14:34 “In accordance with the number of days that you spied out the land, 👉forty days👈, for every day you shall suffer the punishment for your guilt a year, that is, 👉forty years👈, and you will know My opposition.” Numbers written ~1400 years BC Daniel 9:24 | 70 weeks = 7 days X 70 weeks = 490 days. Daniel 9:24 “Seventy weeks are 👉determined upon thy people👈 and upon thy holy city” (70 weeks are determined for the Daniel’s people (Jewish nation at that time) for something to happen, details in the verses) Ezekiel 4:6 “...I have appointed thee each day for a year.” Written centuries before Daniel. Therefore 490 days = 490 years. Starting point: Daniel 9:25 “…from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem …” 👇 The decree/commandment to start rebuilding the city was done by king Artaxerxes I in his 7th year or 458/457BC historically confirmed (look it up) and in the Bible Ezra 7:7,13,21. Also Daniel 9:25 “the street shall be built again, and 👉the wall, even in troublous times.” Ezra 9:9 “…to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a 👉wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.” Ending point: Daniel 9:25 cont “…Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks” (7 weeks + 62 weeks = 69 weeks) Therefore 69 weeks x 7 days = 483 days = 483 years. Until messiah which is 27AD (confirmed in Luke 3:1) 15th year of Tiberius Caesar (12AD "co-Princeps" took place in the year 12 AD, after Tiberius' return from Germania.) (according to secular history as well). This is the baptism of Christ (Anointed by God through the Holy Spirit) Luke 4:18 “Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has 👉ANOINTED👈 Me...” (anointed definition is messiah) Going forth of the commandment: Ezra 7:7 “...in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.” 7th year of king Artaxeres = 457BC 15th year of Tiberius Caesar = 27 AD Luke 3:1 “Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar...” Luke 4:18 “Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has 👉ANOINTED👈 Me...” fulfilling the prophecies of Daniel 9:24-26... 483 years later. 457BC + 483 = 27AD (no year 0). When doing the calculation. 1 BC then 1AD. Also confiming that the time prophecy was fulfilled, Jesus said it himself after being baptized: “And saying, The 👉time is fulfilled👈, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:15 Furthermore: Daniel 9:26 “And 👉AFTER👈 👉threescore and two weeks👈 shall Messiah be 👉cut off👈…” not AT 69 weeks. So sometime AFTER. Clearly his baptism is in 27AD based on Luke’s historical dating. Messiah arrives Daniel 9:25 “ ...UNTO the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks” which is 69 weeks EXACTLY on time in 27AD from 457BC which is 69 weeks or 483 years. Daniel 9:27 “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the 👉midst of the week👈” (***3.5 year ministry Jesus was killed and the scriptures states sacrifices cease accordingly to his will, as Christ was the final sacrifice for all***) “he shall cause the 👉sacrifice and the oblation to cease👈...” l the last 3.5 years after Jesus died, however Israel rejected the new covenant Jesus was confirming Luke 22:20, finally by the stoning death of Stephen at the end of the final week to complete the 70th week or 490 years from 457/58 BC, Acts 7:54-59 (~34AD), Acts 8. The covenant was then given to the Gentiles to spread to the world, Acts 13:46 “Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but 👉since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, 👉we turn to the Gentiles.” Romans 2:25-29, Galatians 3:26-29.

1. Is there only one god, or are there multiple gods? If multiple, how is a person to choose which deserves obedience? 2. Would you agree that before anything can exist, something has to create it? Did your god create everything? If yes, who/what created your god? 3. Is your god infallible? 4. Is your god omnipotent? 5. Is your god omniscient? 6. Is your god benevolent, or malicious? 7. If your god cannot make mistakes, then it follows that everything it creates is either perfect, or that your god intentionally makes things that are flawed. Would a benevolent god intentionally create something likely to suffer because of its flaws? 8. If your god can do anything, and it created the universe, why didn't it simply create a perfect world inhabited by perfect beings? If your god wanted obedience, and god is not malicious, why did god make disobedience possible? If a parent had two little children, and came to them with a plate of cookies and said, "These are the best cookies in the world, and I'm going to put them where you have to look at them all day every day. You are NOT ALLOWED to eat these cookies, ever~!" The parent then deliberately lets a crony into the house to mess with the kids. The crony tells the kids "Eat the delicious forbidden cookies and you will turn into grown ups!" Then, of course, the kids eat the cookies. The abusive parent storms in, enraged. "How dare you ungrateful children! I am now physically throwing you out of my house. You will live in torture for eternity as punishment, and all of your children will automatically also suffer torture all of their miserable lives". Wouldn't a parent like that belong in an insane asylum, or at least in prison? Suppose the parent had the ability, at any time, to bring the kids back to paradise.....instead, he says, "well, I'm going to TORTURE TO DEATH my favorite son, and THEN, if you obey me like a zombie slave from now on, you can come home" Wouldn't that parent deserve only HATE, not obedience? 9. If your god knows everything, does it already understand every thought and feeling you have? Does it instantaneously know everything you say and do? If yes, what is the point of religious rituals, such as prayer? 10. Why would an omnipotent and omniscient god not communicate directly and unambiguously with individuals, with no need of books, churches, prophets, signs, miracles, etc? If a person is not intelligent enough, or not "worthy" enough to speak directly with god, whose fault is that? Who made the person in the first place? If a person is unworthy or incapable of directly communicating with god, how can that person be capable of recognizing a valid spokesperson for god? 11. Think about the person/people who convinced/persuaded/ordered you to believe in a version of god. Are they infallible? Is it at all possible for them to tell you something they sincerely believe, but for that thing they tell you to be actually incorrect? 12. Are feelings reliable tools to guide actions? Suppose I hear a person in my neighborhood talking a lot about the presence of violent break in robberies nearby, and I get apprehensive. I am convinced by the passion my neighbor puts into this story, even though I've seen no tangible evidence. That night, I hear a noise. I FEEL certain that it is a robber breaking in to harm my family. I get out of bed, pull a pistol from the bedside table. Without opening the bedroom door, I shoot through it to get the robber. When I open the door, there is my son, lying dead on the floor from my bullet. I was sure. I relied on my feelings. My fear of a robber. My hope of being a defender father. Feelings, not facts. Was that a good way to live my life? 14. Do you deny that religion (superstition, irrational behavior) is the root cause of most human conflict in history, that for centuries millions have been tortured and murdered "because god told me to do it"? 13. Suppose a person has a book full of maps to guide a group journey. They rely upon it, but the group is perpetually lost. You question the map book, but your friend insists that the map book is flawlessly accurate. "How do you know?" you ask. They reply, "I know that this book is accurate and perfect, because it says so in the book." Your friend insists that the map book is information from god.....but some other people wrote the book, based on their interpretations...why? Why didn't god write the book personally? How could information possibly become more accurate and truthful when filtered thorough con men?.....but that is okay, because of how passionately they shout about their version of the book, and how strongly it makes your friend feel. When you show them hundreds of self contradictions in the book, they get upset and say that you are just not reading the book correctly. Which person is messed up? You, or the book fanatic? How do you justify cherry picking which parts of the bible to follow? Leviticus? Jesus clearly stated he is there to uphold ALL of the law. Do you obey it all, or dodge and rationalize and ignore the insanity and vicious hate that makes up most of the bible? 14. If the point is to die and go to heaven, why not simply commit mass suicide and get it over with? Christ was quite literally a kamikaze; is that what you preach should be emulated in daily life? 15. Why is it necessary to use superstition and irrationality to justify your practical principles? Why treat humans like a donkey in need of the stick of hell and the carrot of heaven? If you want positive secular behavior, why not justify that behavior in practical terms? Why do you need to use HATE and FEAR to get people to OBEY your literally INSANE beliefs? Wake up. Reality is OBJECTIVE, not subjective. Religion is a SCAM used by con men to exploit the weak, the desperate, and the stupid. Use your brain, not your feelings. What kind of organization calls itself loving and benevolent while calling you disgusting sinful and vile? What kind of organization requires your UNQUESTIONING obedience and GROVELING submission?

Who Moved the Stone? by Frank Morison (Author) First published in 1930, WHO MOVED THE STONE? analyses texts about the events related to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. Frank Morison was skeptical regarding the resurrection of Jesus, and set out to analyze the sources and to write a short paper entitled JESUS - THE LAST PHASE to demonstrate the apparent myth. In compiling his notes, he came to be convinced of the truth of the resurrection, and set out his reasoning in the book WHO MOVED THE STONE?. Many people have become Christian after reading the book, and some have used the work as a reference for more work on the subject.
@conradbulos61644 ай бұрын
One answer is that the temple guards sent by the Sanhedrin removed the stone, found the tomb empty and quickly reported their discovery to the high priest who confitmed their suspicion that Jesus' body would be stolen. Did they believe that Jesus was resurrected after they hear of him walking around? No! They believed he was revived and once again plotted to kill him.

I always liked Dr Gary H when he speaks about the time these books were written. The skeptics that say the NT books were written in the 2nd century and Jesus deity was formulated or made up are so far off with what simple history says. Gary brings up many times the destruction of the temple in 70 ad and how it’s one the most biggest events in history and those wars started in the late 60s. This isn’t mentioned in any NT book other than Jesus prophesying it and it’s simply because they were written beforehand. That temple being destroyed would have been written in the text somewhere and we have tons of evidence of it being desolated. It’s not like historians are working their lives to form up biased lies. They know and understand well what happened.

Of course that also means that the dozens of other heretical gospels that don’t mention the destruction of the temple were also written by eyewitnesses before 70AD. Historians call that an argument from silence… one of the weakest historical arguments. Also… it can be argued that Mark mentions the destruction of the temple in the parable of the fig tree and also provides an explanation for the destruction… he even connects it to a prophecy of Jesus.

Great summaries. My senior essay in HS-way back in 1983-was titled “Jesus Christ: Man or Messiah?” and my strongest argument was what the disciples, apostles, and many other martyrs were willing to undergo rather than lie and save there skin-literally, as some martyrs were skinned alive to encourage them to renounce Christ. The martyrs who came later were not eyewitnesses, but they testified and held firm to the belief that the transformative Presence of the Lord in their lives and the miracles they beheld were real.

I became frightened in the moment and surrendered the moment after which I returned to myself on the bed. I am now 74 years young and a seeker in the school of life. No more or no less. That I wasn't able to live this life without my Lord and God Jesus Christ. It is because I wanted to be saved from this horrible world, I wanted to feel safe. And the Bible says if you search for God with your whole heart (that is better translated as your emotions and thoughts), you will find Him. I searched and I found Jesus. Not just that but the gospel message itself is unlike any other. We're evil, but the God of this universe loved us so much that he entered into His own creation to take the penalty for our sins upon Himself and offer us eternal life. So that all we have to do is repent of our sins, and trust that He paid for them. It was prophecied in Isaiah 53, Psalm 22 and 300+ other places throughout the Old Testament as well.

It's been a few years and I'm looking for it now that I see the debates on this channel, the translation of the Roman text where there own historians wrote about the time of Jesus. The Roman's kept meticulous records. From the records we've found, the Rome's recorded over 500 people, Jews and Romans alike witnessed Jesus Christ on the third day. Willing to bare witness at a time when both the Jewish leaders and Pontius Pilate wanted to put the whole thing to rest, finally. And under the threat of being crucified themselves or being thrown into a pit of wild dogs. The Roman's rule was ruthless, crucifying people almost daily, throwing people to the Lions and wild dogs. They would slash people with their short swords if they didn't get out of their way. And it's not like today, people get infections and lost limbs, lost their livelihood. You really have to take the atmosphere of brutally of that era. Brutally to obtain power. Yet, despite all of that, people were willing to bare witness. This is more profound to me than anything in the Bible, but reaffirms the Bible for me.

Nature and the universe did not just pop out of nowhere. There is no life without life. There is no life from non-life . Nature and the universe in itself are complex in nature. From this, we could argue that there is a greater intelligence behind all the wonders of the world. For, plants and stars do not have minds , but instead are designed to act a certain way and serve a purpose. Even though we may not understand the purpose of other creations. My point here is that there is an intelligence behind all creations, including nature and the universe. If you and me did not create all these wonders ( nature and the universe) ,then who did? And let's not forget that supernatural things like witchcraft can not be explained in regards to the way they come to life. This is not just a mystery but can also serve as a testament that the supernatural does exist , may it be evil or good .

An if God came down and in his own voice told me he was real I’d follow his commands to the ends of the earth but he won’t come down and common sense would tell you it’s silly to believe in something without evidence just because most people in the church fall into two categories 1 you were raised in the church as a kid or 2 you were in a vulnerable state of mind when the church came to you some one you loved died or something tragic happened to you and your looking for answers to something you’ll never understand. I was raised in the church and in my opinion if you put all of the evidence for and against God logic and reason says the probability of God existing is slim to none . @nickhall100010 ай бұрын
My belief is that if Jesus did not rise then his apostles would have said: He was a great man, but he was delusional! The end! But they didnt. They all spent the rest of their lives spreading his message and his resurection. They only did that because it was true. They all spread the word. No one does that, knowing you will be persecuted and killed unless they knew it to be true. They were also given further information and teaching from the holy spirit and that enabled them to do what they did. This is documented in the new testament.

Even if we all agree that people were making claims that they saw the risen Jesus. That in no way verifies that they actually did. People make up experiences all the time for attention. We see this human characteristic everywhere. The fact is that anecdotal evidence is not evidence.
@tripwire845710 ай бұрын
Those people, are they willing to die for those false claims? All of them? Even one of them? No, not when one. Yet in this case, dozens and hundreds said the same thing and were willng to die for it too.

You’re sapping all of the context out of it. Believing in Jesus for first century jews was like walking in the middle of the Kremlin and shouting LONG LIVE DEMOCRACY. There not only was no incentive to do this, but a very, very, verrrrry strong incentive not to. If you don’t believe me, ask more than half the apostles, who were literally hacked apart with swords, crucified upside down, and beheaded. You signing up for that lol?
@anti-christ.66610 ай бұрын
@Papa-dopoulos martyrdom is literally written into the faith. Jesus told his followers that they would be persecuted just as he had been and it doesn't matter that Jesus wasn't real as long as people believe he is or was.
@Papa-dopoulos10 ай бұрын
@@anti-christ.666 this makes no sense for a group of people who were alive exactly when he was killed and allegedly resurrected. If I martyr myself 2000 years later, then we shrug our shoulders and say “maybe he was right, maybe he was wrong” But if the first century martyrs and alleged witnesses did this, they KNEW it was a lie. It would be the absolute peak of insanity for one person to claim/do this, let alone hundreds. That’s the major difference. They would have 100% known that it was a lie

This whole video can be rebutted with one sentence. Because you believe something the truth doesn’t make it so. We don’t have any solid evidence anybody died because they believed Jesus was resurrected and was god. Even if we did, the fact they believed they saw a risen Jesus can be explained by other plausible reasons. If they defended this belief to death, it doesn’t mean what they believed was actually true, only that they actually believed it true.
@Bombcart50210 ай бұрын
Christians were executed historically, there's plenty of evidence, thrown to the lions, boiled alive, etc. Christians believe Jesus was resurrected and was god, so is it so hard to believe the apostles weren't executed for this same reason? or what are you arguing here?

When one person is delusional it's called insanity. When several, many people are delusional and in agreement then it's called religion. It's strange how people can recognize a fairytale when they hear it and know it's a fairytale, but when it comes to religion all logic and reason go out the window. And they actually want to justify it! When I observe life closely I realize that there's nothing supernatural about it at all. With that, there's more clarity and understanding of myself and the natural world we live in, and much less fear of it, without the ancient and mystical biblical misinterpretations of the things we now know and understand.

@@PatchesOHoulihan-hi2tb I like how Carl Sagan put it: "...we are the eyes and ears of the universe aware of itself through us..." It's not magic but natural evolutionary growth over millions of years through the processes of adaptive change. The universe is infinite energy, everything is energy, we are also energy from out of this universe. Given the circumstances of life sustainable possibilities; being the right distance from the sun ; the earth being mostly water; etc. nothing just magically springs into existence. We need to look and study the quantum level of physics. The universe doesn't have a "purpose" but only a direction. "Purpose" is something that has evolved in us through eons of time and purpose is something different to each individual. Why does the universe exist? Where else would it be? Energy cannot be created nor destroyed it only cycles as it expands, which is what the universe is--energy--and energy becomes physical matter through subatomic particles that are energy vibrations and not solid particles actually. Everything is energy. Energy moves forward.
