To those wondering about the reference to Hinduism and its incorporation of Jesus, this claim is based on several contemporary movements in Hinduism, like the group assoicated with Sri Ramakrishna (d. 1886) who have indeed argued for Jesus as an Avatar. As an atheist, I have to say this was refreshingly balanced, unbiased and well-sourced. I grow tired of videos, articles and books that mock believers with non-stop atheistic dogma, as much as I do those that present atheists as immoral elitists and tout Jesus's divinity as objective fact.

I know that this has been already said a thousand times but it keeps being true: "Atheistic dogma" is a contraction in itself, I think. If I invented and truly believed in a figure, let's say my imaginary friend Charlie, it would be strange to call others acharlieists and accuse them of spreading acharlieist dogma, whenever they say "come on, there is no Charlie". Acharlyism is the default state. If Charlie exists, I must prove it. "Atheism" is a poisoned word, it tries to manipulate the mind by introducing backdoor that there is a god or gods.

This channel is just amazing. Believer and non-believer people comment, and ALL in a respectful and open-minded way, which is SO rare when talking religion. I guess I am personnally still questioning the existence or not of a God and have no clear answer yet, but one reason why I stopped going to church a long time ago was (1 thing of many) the fact that I always felt that churches were teaching what was convenient for them, and were hiding/ ignoring many historical facts, or ancient writings...and so on and so forth. This channel has been eye opening. Always well narrated, and extremely well-documented, and does not lean one way or the other: just gives facts.

@@joshua2400 The bible has been completely debunked by science, archaeology and biblical scholarship, but you can actually *PROVE* the bible is false yourself. The anonymous, biased fanatics who wrote the gospel fairy tales claimed that Jesus promised: "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer" (Matt. 21:22), “Whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you" (John 16:23), "whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:24). So turn on your video camera and pray for Jesus to appear to you RIGHT NOW, and post the result to KZbin! Jesus will never appear because the authors of the gospel tales were proven liars. Praying to Jesus is no different than praying to Zeus, Odin, a Flying Spaghetti Monster, or to any other fictional character in a book. All Christians can do is make pathetic excuses for why this NEVER works, despite the bible’s promises. *FACTS* 1) If Jesus was real, and a god, he COULD appear to you, or to anyone. 2) He supposedly appeared to others in ancient stories that we have no evidence for (Acts 1:3). 3) Jesus supposedly promised that believers would “receive whatever you ask for in prayer” (Matt 21:22). 4) Regardless how much you pray or ask...Jesus won't appear. The most likely explanation for the above? Jesus won’t appear because he CAN’T. Fictional literary characters can't hear prayers or do anything in real life. The fact that so many Christians have to film videos and post comments defending their debunked book of ancient mythology is proof that the bible is false, and that the magic prayer superpowers promised by the liars who wrote the gospel tales don’t work. “Do not put my ridiculous claims to the test” said the liar to the fool.

@Aaron of Ruth Don’t murder any babies ‘on faith’ today just because some member of a death cult claims that God said so. "This is what the Lord Almighty says...put to death men and women, children and infants." (1 Samuel 15:2-3). So you’d murder your neighbor’s entire family, including his infant, if some man claimed that Jesus appeared to him and said you should? If it says so in a book with a talking snake, talking donkey, 900-year-old men, virgin birth and zombies, written by anonymous, biased members of a death cult who thought the world was flat and illness was caused by demons, then it MUST be a reliable source of real history, right?!! *SUCKER* - “a person who believes everything they are told and is therefore easy to deceive” - Cambridge Dictionary

You struggle to get unbiased information as to if he indeed existed like Christians believe, wether he was a wise man who died and rose again? Bit of a stretch of the emagination that one? It seems to me if you're indoctrinated from an early age its hard to be unbiased in later life, teach ALL religions at an adult age and see how many still believe! ...incidentally I'm a critical thinker and consequently an ex Christian, ..

The psychedelic mushroom theory was first popularised by an English academic called John Allegro through his book The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross. It brought him both popular fame and notoriety, and also destroyed his career. The psychadelic mushroom theory is interesting because Jesus is known for preaching love, and people who take psychadelic drugs report having a feeling of love for everybody. Also, herbs/drugs/vegetation also points to the cross, which is a symbolic tree, as well as Jesus' body being bread and his blood being wine/grapes. Other so-called "dying-rising gods" are also associated with vegetation/herbs/drugs, such as the Ugaritic god Baal Hadad being resurrected as fruit; the Sumerian god Dumuzi and the cedar tree; the Egyptian god Osiris and the acacia tree, barley, and wheat; the Phoenician god Adonis and the anemone flower and red poppies (which in turn associate him with opium); the Phrygian god Attis and almonds and pomegranates; the Hittie god Telipinu and the oak tree; the Norse god Balder and the oak tree and mistletoe; the Greek god Dionysus and wine/grapes, pomegranates, and the pine tree; the Greek god Hyacinthus and the Hyacinth flower; the Roman mythology hero Pyramus and the mulberry tree; the Irish god Miach and "365 herbs". There is also the Slavic god Jarilo (although I'm not sure if he is associated with any particular herb or plant).

Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north. In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind" The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun through the heavens. Jesus is a fictional allegory for the sun. Christianity is ancient astrology. It's just fables about the sun. Check out Acharya S aka D.M Murdock for more info. ..

I was raised as a Christian, but im Agnostic now. I think Jesus could have been one person, or perhaps he was a few different peoples stories put together, or perhaps he was just a symbol of faith and a means of spreading a message. Regardless, im a big fan of the New Testament and that Jesus is real to me. Though i might not follow christianity, i still live by what Jesus taught and find so much Biblical teaching to be wonderful as a way to deal with the struggle of being human. Whatever jesus means to people i think how many believe in him in each different way that we do, makes him real anyway. Whatever that means for you. Thats i guess why beliefs are so very personal. ❤

I believe one of the biggest issues that may arise here is that, clearly, the earliest recorded papers we are going to find are only going to be of Christian origin because those are the people who were closest and saw the most of the man's actions. On-top of this, who we can chose as trustworthy sources is very narrowed down by the decision to say Christian views are biased, because if Jesus _was_ the Messiah and _could_ do these actions, _anyone_ who saw him doing them would have, and _did,_ convert! That is a major part of his story, non-Christians being converted by his miracles. So the problem instantly arises: There is no unbiased source. There is either "I didn't see, I'm not a source at all", "I didn't see anything, but I hear this name alot, I just prove he was talked about", and "I saw, and I converted immediately, now I am biased and cannot be counted at all." By these categories, we see that only one can be considered, and it's the idea that he exists at all. Then again, that is the title of the video, and as we see through your well-written explanations we are pretty confident that he did! He was, with a small enough margin for doubt, a person on Earth. For context on my thought process, I myself am a Christian, but only because out of _all_ the Religions, I find Christianity to be rather fair and well thought-out when it comes to the Give and Take of the Religion and it's worship. On-top of that, my family has many... Miracles tied to it that cannot be explained logically or scientifically, despite said miracle-family raising me to be as logical as possible. I have not once been preached to, just gotten simple answers believed to be true when I have asked questions. This recipe makes a very (in my opinion) fascinating outside perspective! I trust Science wholeheartedly... But I trust that ALL Gods and Religions exist wholeheartedly... Because as I was raised, BOTH have made sense and both could very easily co-exist, like puzzle pieces that so neatly fit together. So when trying to consider "Did Jesus Exist?" "Did Jesus actually do these things?" "Was he the Messiah?" "Does Yahweh actually exist?" My answers can very easily boil down to... An unusual bias that... Sort of cancels itself out. In order; "Yes", "Maybe", "He was _Yahweh's_ Messiah! He was intended to be atleast!", "I don't know but I have seen far more evidence For than Against." And even then, all of my evidence For is very easily explained by calling my Mother a schizophrenic that _thinks_ she's translating the messages of gods and misses her wings. She's not a Christian, I just trust her word because I don't understand how my uncle can be permanently cured of his chronic gout in one night by my Mom's healing, or why she is able to be so clear and well-spoken in all of her conversation both in and out of Religion if she's crazy, nor do I understand how you can prevent _rain_ from _reaching a house._ (IT CUT OFF AT THE DRIVEWAY AND THERE'S NO TREES?!) This is not trying to preach to you or something, this is just the crazy shit I've seen so you can maybe understand why _I_ think the way _I_ do. As they say, "I'm not trying to Excuse what I did, I'm just trying to Explain _why_ I did it." In the end, whether I'm insane or not, or whether you're an Athiest, a Christian, or something else, I think as long as you aren't a fucking DICK to your fellow human, then we can all enjoy a great life on Earth and in wwwwhatever comes after. I think that it's _healthier_ for humans to have such a wide and diverse range of things they believe in because it vastly improves the uniqueness of our race and the stories we can share be they real or not. It doesn't matter if they are, that's why _Faith_ is a thing. I chose my beliefs based on the Security of the Deal I got. "Follow this bible- Scratch that, follow these 10 commandments- Scratch that, these TWO COMMANDMENTS shall cover ALL of the bible pretty much and uhh that's it! You go to Heaven!" It's a *braindead simple* Religion! And on-top of that in my personal opinion I think being the first to say he made everything was a smart and funny marketing move by Yahweh lol. Thanks for taking the time to read this wwweeeiird essay all the way to the end! And to LetsTalkReligion, you made a very good video sir!

I've no idea why this comment (replying to a viewer who advanced in some detail the hypothesis that Yeshua (Jesus) was actually Antipater, eldest son of Herod The Great by his 1st wife) was deleted. Yet here it is again anyway!😁 Fascinating conjecture that in purely general terms may well contain a germ of truth, but Yeshua was certainly NOT Antipater (Ἀντίπατρος), who'd have been born around 40 years earlier than he. Remember, Herod The Great divorced his 1st wife, Doris, Antipater's mother, at some point between 43BCE and 40 BCE. When Antipater would already have been a small child at minimum. While the most likely date for Yeshua's birth is c7 - 6BCE. Not too much earlier than when Antipater himself fell foul of daddy. Despite his earlier recall and reinstatement in c29BCE. After mummy's replacement, the Hasmonaean Mariamne, came a cropper (and was alleged to have ended up in a big barrel of honey). Thereby demonstrating that even the most uxorious chap has his limits! Especially if, like Herod, he's also an unappreciated parvenu dynast and paranoid psychopathic familicide on a Ptolemaic scale. Even so, Yeshua AND John (the Baptist) could indeed have been not just contemporaries and reasonably close relatives, but ALSO minor scions of the Herodian (or FAR more likely, Herodian AND/OR Hasmonaean) dynasties. Though (sorry and all that) John was NOT Costobar, who was the husband of Salome NUMBER ONE, Herod The Great's sister. NOT Salome No2, who'd have been the old boy's (what?) great or great-great granddaughter. Finally, w.r.t. what most folk think of today as "Christianity" (namely the Pauline sort), it's virtually certain that neither Yeshua nor John had anything to do with it. Except by serving as subjects the breakaway faction could adopt to hang its odd Judeo-Hellnistic mystery cult upon. Especially as both men were still somewhat recently "expunged" real life historical wannabe-'somethings'. Though NOT wannabe Gods or, specifically in Yeshua's case, a God. John and he WERE clearly Jewish! ...and after all, had Yeshua in particular had to be invented to facilitate Paul & Co's novel theological purposes and so was a wholly fictitious character anyway, they could simply have saved themselves all the trouble of having to massively ginger up his manner of execution and reason for being sentenced to it. Most likely by just having their invented character be cosily 'apotheosised' via a nice, orthodoxy-compliant stoning to death.

One is that there's new evidence that points to the Gospel of Luke being written in the 60s AD by discoveries of it dating from that time in Spain and Mark and Matthew being at the same time or likely earlier. And the earliest epistle of Paul is dated to the mid 40s AD, so more like 10 years after Jesus' death than 20.

I like how the methodology of scholarship and historical writing is explained given available evidence.

Check out Acharya S aka D.M Murdock for more info. . . . .. ....
