I was absolutely *obsessed* with this aircraft as a teenager, and it's still one of the most beautiful machines I've ever seen. It will always have a special place in my heart.

Congratulations to all concerned. A very well made and produced piece of film, re-enforcing public confidence in The British Royal Air Force, and those of other nationalities, to resist and hopefully overcome any enemy action around the world. A fine illustration of successful international co-operation in the design and construction of superior armaments that will remain in the forefront of military fighting equipment, for at least the first quartile of the 21st century. One cannot fault the technical and engineering excellence of this project, and all those involved in bringing this project to its current situation, have every right to feel proud of their joint achievement. The one sad aspect to this homage to the incredible success of this technical, engineering, and collaborative venture, is that the end result should be an immensely powerful killing machine. An instrument of war. Rather than some practical, useful, and peaceful devices, that would support and assist the human race, to resolve some of the natural and man made destructive forces, currently facing our world and its occupants. Whilst no one should in any way detract from the success achieved by those involved in the Tornado venture, one can only hope that a similar measure of effort and resources is devoted to more peaceful outcomes at some not too distant point in the future.

It's still pretty, unlike the replacement. Kind of our version of an f1-11 or perhaps an f14 tomcat. Love this plane.

Anyone have a link to a documentary about this plane .... I don't know how it is I've never seen this plane before !
@vinniechan8 жыл бұрын
+coojsta69 it was the mainstay muti role aircraft for European air force (The RAF, Luffwaffle and the Italian AF) with variants for interception, ground attack and electronic warfare. Consider it was designed in the cold war it's remarably durable and handy tho doesn't have a high profile like the American made aircraft

I seem to remember the mission around the early 80s , flying to Libya. Anyway they are good, reliable and worth keeping in reserve now that Putin is withdrawing from agreements and China now has medium range missiles in the north west. Cant have enough firepower.

Just don't speed up jet videos to try to make them look more impressive....brakes release at 0:34 for example. Look at the oleo bounce...nah. Otherwise a great documentary film.

Don’t tell the Germans or the Brits but this planes heyday sunsetted two decades ago! You have F-15’s, and Typhoon’s now, why keep this relic flying?
@dave47286 жыл бұрын
The F-15 is older than the Tornado. If it's capable of doing a job why get rid of it?

Because it is simply the same shame, as it has been updated so much, particularly by the RAF... From GR1, to 2, but to 4 is massive
