2022 Update: Hey folks, just to clarify that this video is A YEAR OLD now and as one of my first videos on the channel, my audio is very loud and unbalanced in places, if you check out my latest videos you can see this is something I've hopefully improved over time. Thanks for your comments though, I always appreciate feedback.

I'm so sad that the some of the Bratz Rock Angelz re-release Dolls had awful face screenings. In my opinion, MGA Entertainment is doing the Bratz legacy so dirty right now, and I think, they're putting way too much focus into L.O.L. Surprise! and Rainbow High Dolls. Don't get me wrong, both L.O.L. Surprise and Rainbow High Dolls are fantastic, but Bratz crawled so other Doll Lines could walk. We wouldn't have all of these companies trying to be so diverse, fashion forward, and unique if it wasn't for Dolls like Bratz.

I personally think they are putting more time into their collector and designer dolls then the repros. Which makes sense but still, I can’t even find the the rock angelz or the girls nite out dolls in stores where I live so idk. (I don’t think that correlates but whatever lol.)

i feel weird being in my 20s now and wanting to buy bratz again but they have been gone for sooo long. I had so maney bratz dolls as a kid and i stupidly gave them away lol. Bratz was deff superior to barbie. They had diversity and it wasent super girly. my fav was yasmin lol

So I was born in 1991, and what I can tell y'all as an Afro-Latina about Bratz. Coming out of 90s and begin exactly the demographic they were targeting. I was 10 when the first Bratz came out. They were so ahead of their time and I didn't even realize it. Coming out of the 90s, these were the first dolls that truly gave young girls a choice about what they liked. Having played with Barbies, a lot of the times Barbies just produced the same doll with just a color change (for clothes and skintone). Bratz however each one had a different outfit, each one had a different personality, and MGA never pushed you to just buy a doll based on your race. But rather on which dolls clothes or doll itself spoke to you and your personality. Til this day I can't get over how much having a Jade doll meant to me. I just want MGA to treat the re release of the dolls right and then give us older crowd new dolls that fit with us in modern times

Bratz was a guilty pleasure of mine. I remember being a huge fan of My Scene. It was created to be the Bratz’s rival. I like both. I remember I used to own notebooks with the Bratz pictures on it.

I really dont understand the "brats are bad influences on children" argument because barbie also has unrealistic beauty standards for children and I feel like she's supposed to be more "realistic" but the bratz are very obviously stylized caricatures of humans! As a child I understood their proportions were unrealistic while barbie I thought was more human like! And cabbage patch kids as an example are supposed to be babies and im sure nobody every thought they were the beauty standard for babies? Like obviously dolls are human like characters but are always far from human proportions and I feel like even as kids we understood this!

I am beyond upset at myself for giving away my whole Bratz collection to my neighbor a while back. I had some of the og first edition dolls as well as the spa, the blue convertible with FM radio, and the prom collection dolls :'( I was on a nostalgia binge some months back and found myself missing my beloved dolls, unfortunately my neighbor ended up donating the dolls elsewhere.

As a 30 something hearing that the adults at the time sexualized Bratz so much is so weird. I never had anything akin to a sexual thought about them bc it's just weird. That was the style back then. This goes back to parents being parents. If you don't want your kids to wear makeup, be a parent and don't let them. If you don't want your kids to wear certain clothing, be a parent and don't let them. But kids aren't stupid. Just because they like a doll it doesn't mean they will become a doll. Bratz were whole entrepreneurs while going to high school. They were true friends supporting friends which is so rare in teen media. I can't tell you how many shows I've rewatched as an adult and I'm like they are frenemies at best and outright hostile at worst. My brother got me Sasha last year for Christmas. Bratz is a great property. I'm disgusted with the adults that made them something dirty. And I love your accent by the way.

I never really had a "side" I loved bratz just as much as barbie. And my scene and liv dolls. I played with all of them together. They all existed in the same world for me. I loved how barbie had sooooo many girly glittery things, I loved the barbie movies and pc games, I even had barbie decor for my room. The bratz had a different style of clothing, but I loved it too. Especially rock angelz! I loved their movies and TV Show too. Even had the rock angelz pc game. I loved the my scene dolls cause they were a perfect blend of barbie and bratz. They usually had bratz style clothing but being barbie size I could swap clothing between them all, which was awesome. The livs usually were dressed in pretty modest clothing which was more my style, (they also are barbie sized) plus I loved their inset eyes. They were so striking. Sadly they didn't last very long so I didn't get much from their line. I'm still growing my bratz collection as they were pretty hard to find in my area at the time. I've got hundreds of barbies though due to her being so popular and easily found. And as my friends "grew out" of dolls they would give me their collections so I've amassed a huge collection over time. But i love all my dolls. I don't prefer one brand over another, there are certain dolls I favor more than others but they're all different types. I also agree with what you said about not comparing yourself to the dolls bodies. I never did that either. Whenever I wanted to look like someone else it was always a real person. Never a doll. As much as I love my dolls and as much as I spent time playing with them and pretending they were real people I never once wished I had their body style. The first time I ever heard that there were people who wished to have a dolls body I was just in shock. It had never occurred to me that that would be a thing. Also the personalities bit is so me as a child. I would create a personality for a doll and that would be how they were played with and dressed accordingly forever afterwards. Even as an adult I still see those childhood dolls in the same way and still create personalities for all my new ones too. I have never understood the hate towards one doll type over another. The whole "bratz vs. Barbie" war is ridiculous. They are all awesome and different in their own way. Just like people.

I 100% knew people who just all of the sudden one day weren’t allowed to play with Bratz OR Barbies, because “they could give boys bad thoughts” which made me feel rather uncomfortable because…they’re just dolls?

As a former noughties child (b.1999), I can see in hindsight that it was arguably the best time to be a kid in all of history. The toys were of insane quality despite mass production and it was the Golden Age of Cartoon Network and children's television. I spent as much time watching the TV ads for toys as I did watching the actual shows since it was the only way for kids to see what they could get in Toys R Us without buying a catalogue, and holy shit it was such an exhilarating experience when you saw a new toy ad on the TV. Something I'll never forget doing was frantically calling mom into the living room when the ad for a toy I wanted came on the air - way before live pausing was a feature of TV sets - so as she could see exactly what I wanted for my birthday or Christmas. I feel sad that kids these days won't know those little joys because for me at least they were very formative experiences.

I just got into collecting bratz because I was never allowed to as a kid. So I got some og dolls from the early 2000's and accidentally got one from 2015 and *HOLY SHIT THE QUALITY DIFFERENCE* Not just the differences in the doll's appearance but like, the accessories were obviously just cut of of plastic or rubber. Such a difference in quality of hair, clothes, and accessories. It's appalling and if I were a longtime bratz fan, I would be really pissed off.

Bratz could’ve had an amazing legacy especially on the diversity aspects if it didn’t all feel just like a marketing tactic and not actual consideration with MGA’s (bratz’s head company) total lack of the same consciousness when it came to other of their lines, other than bratz and OMG nearly all of their other lines have had massive issues revolving diversity and representation having predominantly all white dolls with straight wavy hair and maybe one tan character in initial releases and putting darker characters and different hair types as afterthoughts, on top of countless happenstances of their CEO being incredibly racist calling a black creator a “disgrace to black people”, slamming the BLM movement in his personal accounts, etc
