Love the content, Alp. Thank you. Lange is my favourite watch-maker, and I think that their 1815 thin honeygold (ref. 239.050) is one of the greatest dress watch ever. Hopefully, I can find and purchase one in the near future. Looking forward to future episodes!

Thank you, Nikhil! Thrilled to hear this. On the 1815 thin, I completely agree. It is one of the best value watches Lange has put out perhaps in the last 15 years. Brilliant watch. Please feel free to email me if I may be of help with anything at all. Many thanks,

I had the pleasure of a few days in Dresden with a visit to Glashutte. A brilliant few days. The German watch Museum in the centre of Glashutte is well worth a visit. Dresden is a beautiful city too. The Lange boutique in the centre of town is to die for. If anyone is in Germany - take a detour!

Love the brand, but hate their barriers-to-entry. I am a one piece owner, but can’t even get on a waiting list without owning multiple pieces. The brand sacrifices newer and growing customers for the sake of taking care of its VIP’s.
@laurencefahey20852 жыл бұрын
I’m new to this brand , but sad to know like Rolex my money is not good enough, I’m seriously thinking about purchasing an ALS , just trying to decide which one , I love the datagraph but boy is it expensive but I also like the chronograph which looks better value for money , as it’s half the price
@dsvillalva2 жыл бұрын
@@laurencefahey2085 all their models are for serious watch collectors so you can’t go wrong. You’ll be staring at the movement all the time. If an owner wants an Odysseus, they won’t even put you on a waiting list unless you first have at least two Langes in your collection. Frustrating considering the high price point of all their models.
@brpugonlatour16362 жыл бұрын
@dvolla depends on which 2 pieces you are keen in. I think they also profile their customers.. so if they have record that you maybe a flipper, they wouldn’t allocate you a more limited piece. Great watch and looking forward to the day their more common pieces actually retain value…
@dsvillalva2 жыл бұрын
@@brpugonlatour1636 excellent point. Plus, they seem to be moving away from Authorized Dealers and more towards a Boutique model, which again is a higher focus on their existing VIP’s.

So will we find out about Glashutte Original - the real successor company to ALS? Tim mentions this all the time in the review videos. ALS benefits from the "aura" of its' hyper watches - those above say $75, 000, of which relatively few are made. At the more "modest" price points, GO, and a few others are more than competitive and frankly offer better value. At the very least you will get a 4Hz movement versus ALS's 3Hz...
@alpsever52792 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what a "real successor" means here. Walter Lange is re-registered the trademark in December 7th 1990 once again as A. Lange & Söhne, therefore, I think we don't need to look somewhere else. It is true that A. Lange & Söhne was expropriated and merged under GUB, which later was Glashütte Original; alas, it has nothing to do with the brand Ferdinand Adolph Lange founded in 1845, even more so, when there's a modern founder. I simply see them as two very different brands. GO offers brilliant pieces at different ranges, no question on that front.
@willseeya71342 жыл бұрын
@@alpsever5279 I think B Munson means that the assets/business of the original Lange creation were incorporated into what is now GO; hence GO being the successor of the original AL&S. Although the name of AL&S was re-registered and today belongs to a different company, that company has a far lesser connection to the original business/assets of AL&S than GO has.

Like all Swiss watches - produce less watches and jack the price up astronomically .
