I was visiting my brother's home in 2006 when those episodes of Fullmetal and GitS aired and the fart sounds were so excessive that we had tears in our eyes from laughing. This was before the Farting Preacher stuff, too, I believe, so having something completely dominated by the sounds like that (especially on television) was not as stale as it nowadays. What made it funnier was how many other fans of both anime at the time got super upset by the fart noises. They re-aired both normally afterwards but there were still a lot of angry dorks afterwards having their little arguments online. The mustache event was great to watch, too, as it would also have floating mustaches in some parts and the characters would just run into them or inanimate objects taking up the screen with them and, again, like with the fart sounds, that sort of randomness hadn't been ruined yet by today's level of internet nonsense. If I were to see something similar to either event now, I would feel nothing and I'm sure that'd be true for most other chronically-online losers, as well. Stuff like that only worked because of when they aired.

To better explain the Perfect Hair Forever portion of the 2007 April Fools Day prank: the bad video quality and badly written subtitles is meant to be a spoof of VHS anime fansubs and the poor quality of some of them as a result of the decrease of quality each time it's copied from one tape to another.

I remember my family were out one faithful April Fools as we usually were on weekends. That night we got back so tired because it was past midnight and we likely had school the next day. My brothers, sister and I turned on the TV in the living room and were met with old anime and I remember us distinctly going "Whooooa :o" my brothers recognized more anime than I did (they are the reason i got into anime on the first place and are older) so they recognized that every episode down was the last episode. I didn't want spoilers for anime I was going to watch one day so we decided to DVR the entire reairing of the block on the West channel. We never did watch then and they say in the DVR for years. ANYWAY, when it finally came back for good, I was the most excited because when Toonami ended in 2008, I literally had no idea. I kept coming back week after week, waiting for Naruto and after about 4 weeks, I finally gave up. I didn't know it was cancelled until I saw the goodbye message from Tom on KZbin years later. I never did finish Naruto and I know exactly what episode was to play. It was filler but I didn't care. Now here I am, watching Toonami every single week since 2012. I even left my senior prom early to watch it. (only because my friends and I had nothing planned after so we all just went home) Ever time April Fools lands on a Toonami night, I just 🤦🏾‍♀️ because it's always fun and stressful to see what they do. That year with the subs didn't bother me too much except that the Stardust Crusaders episode with Avdol and Joseph was stressful in case a family member came in and saw it and that the episode of HxH where Knuckle explained interest to Gon fried my brain in Japanese. THEN THEY PLAYED ALL THE EPISODES AGAIN THE NEXT WEEK IN ENGLISH😂

I was so mad about the 2006 prank ngi I was watching Ghost in the Shell and FMA and Inuyasha for the first time. I stayed up and tried to watch Inuyasha but it was the Chuck Norris thing so I recorded SAC and FMA in TiVo thinking it'd be fixed and woke up early to watch them and it was fart noises. It was a good joke I guess but I was pissed I was just starting to get into Anime at that point. Obviously 2012 was my favorite April fools.
