Wow, great video! Thanks for posting, and thank you for including the bit about how we managed to get the word "an(d)" into the game. Memory was SUPER tight back then; we literally would trim sounds down byte by byte.

The quality of the research is amazing, I didn't know how they got the "and" sound effect and I didn't know wreck n ball had video footage, absolutely stunning video

great recap! something i noticed when watching the Wreckin' Ball demonstration myself - after the Williams suits see the cloth taken off, the first clear remark made by people in the room is "this is fifty-cent pinball." i think that's a very telling sign of how concerned the industry was about the shift from 25-cent pricing to 50-cent pricing, and how the playfield extending into the backbox could be seen as *a gimmick that was interesting enough for players to accept the higher price.* (i hadn't heard about the dollar-bill acceptor before this, but i'm guessing that Pat got hold of one for Wreckin' Ball just to reinforce this very point during the pitch!)
@KevinCarrington Жыл бұрын
Thanks! That’s a very good observation. This game really does feel like a shifting point into the 90s golden age. Technology and innovation was being pushed like never before. It still feels like a lot when I have to put a dollar in for a single game 😅

You beat me to the punch! I've had the idea to film an informative special about Banzai Run for a while now (I'm lucky enough to own a nice example of the game). But... your video covers everything! And what a great video you have made. Very informative. Very well researched, written and edited. This was a joy to watch. Thank you. Ps. Big chuckle when you said 'Bram Stroker'. :D

Actually, there are two ways to beat the King of the Hill: You described the first way: Lock one of the two balls into the Time Lock(similar to Road Kings). Shoot the other ball up the Banzai Hill. Shoot the ball to the upkicker, then use the flipper to hit the Captive Ball. If you collect the A-B-C targets during Multiball, hitting the Captive Ball scores 1 Million plus an extra ball. The other way that you didn't mention: During Multiball, light the Red Hot, Blue Beard, Yellow Belly and the Green Machine targets, then shoot the Ramp to collect 1 Million.
