Special thanks to redWrld999 and his brother for helping me edit this one! They did an amazing job, and this is their first time helping me out, so if there’s any inconsistencies or slight hiccups here and there, I apologize, but hopefully it’s still pretty good, as I loved the final work myself! Also Before anyone asks, I should note that this video was produced before I took my initial break. It's been in the works for about a month, and I wanted to make sure the efforts of my editor's didn't go to waste, and that it would be better to not keep y'all waiting when I have stuff already finished. One thing I love about Bluey is that even after the first pilot got rejected for being inappropriate, that did not stop them from adding things that kids shows wouldn’t normally add. I actually hope Bluey doubles down on Australian cultural themes. I hope there are episodes especially where the family attend an Australian football, cricket, or rugby league/union match, just to force international viewers to learn(or just get educated) about unfamiliar aspects about Australian culture.
@crazyminegamer2339 Жыл бұрын
Agreed! I would love to be able to share my countries culture through a beloved show, and Americanising it completely removes this possibility. Now I will mention Halloween is a holiday that some celebrate here, but I think if it were featured in Bluey, it could be shown through the lens of how it’s usually treated here in Australia. As for American specific holidays like Thanksgiving, asking for that is an utterly ridiculous concept because they aren’t Aussie holidays. Instead, Aussie holidays should be featured in the show with the common approach most of these holidays have. Definitely shouldn’t make international viewers feel isolated or whatever, but it’s a great opportunity to show how even Aussie specific holidays are celebrated and treated here.

Ok, I'm a whole grown person, fixing to be 32, no kids, unless you count dogs, and found Bluey through TikTok and I love it. It brings me a sense of peace and calms my anxiety issues. It is also a sort of portrait of the family I wanted as a kid. The parents who play with them, who take interest in the games their children play. Growing up I was abused, physically emotionally mentally. By my mom, my step dad, and when I moved out of my mom's house at 16, to my bio dad's house, he was emotionally and mentally abusive. I wanted a family that didn't yell scream call their kids awful names or put the blame all on one child, I got all the blame for everything while my sister didn't even if she did it. On the bandit being a "bad dad " issue, he is definitely not perfect but compared to the two that I had growing up, he's a freaking saint! He plays with his daughters doesn't call them names doesn't hit or threaten to hit, he engages with them, and plays anything they ask him too. Even if it's tossing a balloon around. I have video footage of a 3 year old me trying to get my bio dad to play "keepy uppy" with me, and he's just standing in my grandparents yard. Watching me play when I'm literally begging him to play. So yeah he's not perfect or OP, but Bandit is so much better then what I grew up with so I love him to death! As far as the diversity, I see both sides, it's be cool to see more of Winton because he's clearly a child of divorce or parents that aren't together, I didn't have a lot of that representation growing up. And it's be cool to see a family with a step parent, and step family, and as part of the LGBTQIA community, seeing a LGBT+ couple would be cool, but that person definitely read too much into a kids show. Like it's just meant to be good wholesome fun without the politics. Anyway, I rambled but I really enjoyed this video!

And it took years of therapy, like from the time I was 17 until now to be able to talk about what happened. That's not all of it there is still stuff I don't talk about, and I don't like to talk about specifics of the abuse, but that's the stuff that I'm confident in talking about. "Dogs of color" So.....the many different breeds of dogs, isn't being seen as different "races" of dogs? Snickers: "I love being a sausage dog!" Pom Pom: "Pomeranians are a small but hardy breed!" Jack, our sweet boi with ADHD literally mentions how he can run so fast because he's a jack russel Hell, there is literally an episode where the girls are playing in a pile of dirt and Judo wants to play with them, but she doesn't want to get dirty because Wendy asked her not to. When questioned later Wendy says that they're CHOW CHOWS, a dog breed that's best known for their beautiful fur (which takes a long process to keep it beautiful). AND THE BEST PART OF THE EPISODE IS THAT WENDY DECIDES TO CUT HER OWN FUR, TO SHOW JUDO THAT IT'S JUST FUR. Getting back on topic, there's no need for "Dogs of color" because of all the breeds of dogs in the show! I mean at least it wasn't somebody saying that there needed to be characters that were cats in the show. That isn't a different race by that point, that's a completely different SPECIES of animal (That's like saying that all the different races of humankind are completely different species and we aren't all humans. I mean, like Bandit says in the Potion Grass episode "We're Dogs kid" and basically implying that things go wrong when people don't work together. Replace "Dogs" with "Humans" and the lesson is still the same)

Yeah, the "dogs of color" line had me facepalming. They're dogs! They don't have races or ethnicities. ('cause that's what they want: a token character that's stereotyped enough to call them "the black dude) it's still the dumbest complaint and actually shows that these kind of people aren't for inclusion at all. As the top commenter said: they're basically saying that the "dog of colour" must be a different specie, basically people of different ethnicities are a different specie for them and have the audacity to act like they give a fuck about diversity and people😂.

I used to be conflicted about the pats rules thing, but after thinking I actually like the message, especially when pat eventually just is like "let the kids have fun" which is nice cause he sees that he should just let the kids enjoy themselves no matter what they do, they just so happen to like his rules now because it's more exciting. It also teaches something way more important, being happy for your friends-- which is something I think kids should learn. It's nice seeing your friends happy they get something cool, seeing bingo be happy with and for her friends is really heartwarming, yeah it sucks she didn't get anything but the fact her friend got something is cool! I think it would be cool to combine the rules every once in a while, there's a small candy prize in every layer, but only one person gets the BIG prize, a nice middle ground so everyones happy but still teaches the lesson well

A little food for thought on the "bad dad" controversy; Bluey is a show that I once heard described as being "unapollogetically a family." The show is about a normal family in every sense. I'm going to go out on a whim and say that sometimes dads aren't always fair or nice. I think Ludo is just showing Bandit for what he is: a dad. He sometimes isn't fair or nice and thats just the way it is. Once again, if the show is "unapollogetically a family" then how could they not let a little fatherly unfairness into the show? Also can we take a moment to laugh at the fact that people are reprimanding a fake character on a kids show?
@DarkMasterofCupcakes Жыл бұрын
With the "Pat's rules" thing, I'm kind of in this middle ground where I don't necessarily think he had the wrong idea, but how he handled it was not great. Instead of explaining to the kids that the game was different before it started, he essentially let them get blindsided by the fact that most of them weren't going to get anything. And when Bingo, after opening up one layer, got upset and asked if that meant she wouldn't win anything, he just goes "No, because just like in real life-" when I think he could have been a little gentler about it, considering he was talking to kids who were all like 5 years old at the most. Maybe instead of just telling her that no, she didn't win anything, that she needed to keep playing and maybe she'd win; it just wasn't a definite thing, and that not knowing what part of the fun.

However one thing that does bug me is when Pom Pom says that Pomeranians are a small but hardy breed. It’s a nice detail but makes more questions about how the dogs In this universe are made.

Yes, I think Bandit and Chili play with their kids and give them what they want too much, but these kids are preschool and kindergarten age (in America, at least). They can barely help with chores without messing up everything. I don’t think a bit of spoiling will absolutely ruin them forever. I do wish that in epsiodes where one of the parents would go to work, it went a different route and had Bluey and Bingo upset that Bandit or Chili were away, but they find ways to have fun anyways- maybe even drawing Bandit or Chili and then playing as one of them or something. On the other hand though, I don’t mind it. This world is so chaotic and stressful. Like they say, let kids be kids before they have to grow up! Plus, it’s good to watch as a teen or adult who was neglected.

I dont think Bandit is a bad parent, I think he's just a parent. My dad has done his own share of teasing,like when I was little I'd ask for what's for dinner and he say "Lilypads and Froglegs" now I straight would believe him, for a couple of reasons but we never ate that of course. And eventually i begain to realise he was just jokeing and even when id call him out on it hed continued cause well i got annoyed and it was funny to some people. Teasing can be some harmless fun until it gets mean, Bandit's examples that we are shown in the show is simply fun and not being down right hurtful. It's when Teasing starts to be mean, like Bluey not giving Bingo her Tooth brush wasn't nice she was taking something form her sister and holding it above her head. Bandit was playing, often the kids eventually were laughing along with

about the diversity comment, i definitely agree there should be some more diversity in bluey. this is why headcanons exist, to fill the void. i have various headcanons myself, mainly coco + her whole family being black, bingo being autistic(idk she just gives that vibe)and frisky being bisexual(dont ask me where that came from she just gives that energy). but as much as i love hearing people's headcanons, i would love come canon diversity as well :)

One of the censored scenes in the baby shower episode. Bluey goes off to play a game by herself while Bandit has Bingo twisted up on the swing. Bingo asks Bandit how babies are made and Bandit simply just lets the swing go so Bingo starts spinning around really fast basically distracting Bingo from having to answer a tough question. And it’s a really funny response in my opinion but Disney takes that part of the episode out even though Bandit never tells Bingo how babies are made 🙄

The entire video seems to be zoomed in slightly. I noticed that Hideaki's ears are consistently chopped off a bit at the top as well as the ABC logo seems to be chopped off in the corner of the Bluey clips. Just a small nitpick, but I did notice it the entire time.

the problem I have with the pass the parcel is that both your not really earning something by going around in a circle and getting lucky and that some kids don't go to enough parties and it's possible they could never win the game cause of luck, I much prefer the idea of having a small prize on each layer and a big prize at the end, which I thought was the most common way of setting up the game, like everyone gets a small prize as it goes around and then the last layer is down to luck on who gets it and it's like a nice bonus not the whole game
@TrixyTrixter Жыл бұрын
Not a problem. Its simple life. You don't always win, not because of anything you did but because of simple random chance. I 100% think Pat is correct in his worry seeing how the kids had ability to handle not getting a price the first time they played the game his way. I got a participation medal for being on my schools junior fotball team. I never played and it meaned nothing to me. Its not something I have left. I do still have my price from winning a school lottery drawing tho. A small snowglobe. I did nothing special to win it. But it has so much more value to me as a price than any participation award that ends up in the trash in a few days.
@Pumpkinbeam Жыл бұрын
@@TrixyTrixter yeah but I don't think a fun little birthday game is the time they need to be learning that, and anyway my preferred method doesn't not have the extra nice prize at the end. plus why is it better to be like "soz life's unfair, screw you" then try and make it a bit more fair
@TrixyTrixter Жыл бұрын
@@Pumpkinbeam Because when you teach kids that they will get a price always. They cannot handle the times when they don't. I agree with the chili bio one. I'm happy for the change. As well for the poor, single, diverse, poc, and disabled representation: Poor: in one scene in Dance Mode, in the background a homeless person/dog receives money in his cup Disabled: turtle boy. He's deaf and signs. Jack. Has ADHD Poc: they're dogs. Do you just assume dogs have different races? Cause that's really dumb not going to lie Single: judo's mom is (im assuming so) is divorced and winton's parents are too And diverse: I'm pretty sure there has been mixed dog households. (Edit: uncle rad and aunt frisky. Rad is a heeler and frisky is a cocker spaniel) I also wouldn't mind seeing some LGBTQ rep but I know how Disney is with that kind of stuff unfortunately

My only question is how can you have dogs of color when these are not humans and are a colorful cast, you can litterly image whatever race you want on them if you want to think of them as human. I hate when having a character of color means you have to make them revolve around their race instead of them just being themselves
@zuruaeclipse Жыл бұрын
Some of what I say is long though I think it needs to be said as well as I want to state how I feel and my opinions on some matters "dogs of colour" for the diversity bit blew me, especially if humanising Bluey they would likely be Aboriginal Australian as the breed they are is Australian and with dingo ancestory (same with the rest of the Heelers). I'll also state it is not often in Australia that you'll find disabled people, only on off chances have I seen someone that is disabled and I've only known one person who had a family member that was legally/fully blind. For the other side of the argument being disabled or queer isn't political, it is made political, and it is also good to teach kids to be respectful of others of any gender sexuality visible disability and invisible disability Honestly, Bandit is not a bad dad, he does his best which is better than most parents in this day and age. I personally think his mistakes are often from how he was parented, and while he's not trying to be like that sometimes he slips up (I've experienced this with my dad mirroring his dad's parenting in a milder way) Disney censoring stuff just because the US doesn't think of it as good or whatever is stupid, as shows from other countries should not just be entertaing but also an insight into other cultures and what those countries could find entertaining, at least that's how I feel about any censorship of this kind. Also censoring a fart joke is hilarious coming from disney With the article that you show when mentioning you couldn't cover some I'll mention this, while halloween still exists here it is not as heaviliy "celebrated" as it is in America, meanwhile thanksgiving is not even talked about in Australia unless you are playing animal crossing and talking about it's equilivant. I understand the outrage around a thanksgiving episode as Bluey is set in Australia as well as is an Australian show, and a halloween episode being upsetting I slightly get but it is something we do as kids have access to the internet and would get excited about halloween as a concept given they'd hear about it

I love the idea of Bluey being more diverse from what they’ve already shown, but I’m kind of on both sides of the fence here because as much as I would love to see more diversity, I would also hate to see Bluey get canceled because of that diversity i.e. the LGBTQ community being put in Bluey that (as much as I support it) would probably get Bluey canceled. I agree with the statement of diversity and yes Bluey is for everybody. The creator of the show even said that, but when people start digging that deep, they usually forget it is mostly aimed at children and there are a lot of parents, who wouldn’t want their children learning about the LGBTQ community for various reasons so
